This will be a live contest with 8 skaters per platform going head to head on the updated 2022 Skatepark Of Tampa Pro course, which will be released soon.

The winners of February’s FakeSkate Open will automatically qualify for the Skater XL Tampa Pro contest, but 7 other spots per platform are up for grabs.

To submit an entry to participate:

- film a 45 second contest run at the 2021 @spottampa map. No cuts, just one continuous run.
- Post the run to Instagram using #SXLTampaPC (PC entries, mods are OK), #SXLTampaXB (Xbox entries), or #SXLTampaPS (PlayStation entries)
- one entry per person
- All entries are due by midnight PST on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022

We will be selecting the top 7 (plus the winners of the FakeSkate Open) on each platform to compete live for cash and prizes on May 7th. Good luck and have fun!

Spectate Mode now available in Multiplayer

As we continue to build out the Skater XL Multiplayer and social ecosystem, we are stoked to add another small but very useful piece with the release of Spectate Mode. This feature allows players in Multiplayer rooms to easily watch other players skate and join their session anywhere on the map.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

To use this feature, press and hold Y/🔺when in Multiplayer and select ‘Spectate’. Once spectating a player, you can toggle between fixed, orbit, tripod and free cam by pressing Y/Triangle. L and R on the D-Pad will allow you to switch the player you are spectating to other players in the room.

Another small addition is you can now switch camera focus between players in replay mode by pressing LB / RB. This allows you to easily check out the replays of friends and strangers as well as your own.

As we all know, part of any skate session involves hanging back and watching your friends and strangers try their tricks, getting sparked, and trying your own. We think the addition of the Specate Mode and replay player switching help to bring this element into Skater XL, and helps to further build an authentic skateboarding experience.

Thanks again for all the support and we hope you enjoy this new feature.

Update notes for Feb 4th

- New Spectate Mode now available by pushing and holding A/Triangle
- Can switch players in Replay mode in Multiplayer by pressing L/R on the Pad
- Various minor bug fixes and improvements

From Brookzee99:
With the introduction of multiplayer to the game my goal was to bring a new element to the game in the form of competitive skating for the community. Inspired by real world skate competitions, this map is completely fictitious and was inspired by real world spots from the skateparks of Oshawa, Canada.

I have tried to capture the essence of competition skating with a course that would be at home in any real world event and lends itself to the games mechanics for both base game and modded players. I have put everything into making this map look and skate to the best of my abilities, using what I have learned from this community over the past year and taking advantage of the lighting guide that was compiled by the guys over at Easy Day.

Whilst I have been proud of every map I have made, this is the one I am especially proud of. I can't believe the support I have received from the community whilst making this map, so I thank everyone of you and the guys at Easy Day for always giving their invaluable advice. Here's hoping this is the beginning of a whole new chapter of competitive skating in Skater XL...

New Map Drop - Industrial Zone by Jean-Olive 🚛

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Just in time for the holidays, we are stoked to be dropping the optimized Day and Night versions of a fan favorite community map, Industrial Zone by Jean-Olive, along with the newly added ability to move some of the map-native objects using the DIY Map Editor Alpha.

Industrial Zone by Jean-Olive is a classic street map from the creator of ‘Streets’, among countless other incredible maps. Industrial Zone is Jean-Olive’s rendition of a gritty industrial area complete with shipping bays, loading docks and construction equipment creating a unique environment designed for piecing together your perfect lines. The team at Easy Day worked with Jean-Olive to visually enhance the map’s texturing and lighting, as well as optimize it’s technical performance on all platforms. Today’s release also includes both day and night versions of the map.

In addition to the visual and technical optimizations, we have added the ability to move certain objects in the map to allow for even more customization and creative options. (*Note: to use this feature you need to opt into the DIY Map Editor Alpha Branch. To do this: Right click ‘Skater XL’ and open Properties, Select the ‘Alpha' branch) Throughout Industrial Zone, you will now find objects like construction materials, heavy equipment, and other environmental elements that are native to the map, that can be moved to any location in the map to create new skate spots. To use this feature, press and hold ‘Y/Triangle’ to enter the DIY Map Editor and then select the objects.

Map creators will also have the ability to tag movable objects in their maps in the near future.

To close out 2021, we would also like to give a huge thank you to the Skater XL community for another incredible year. Skater XL wouldn’t be the game it is today without the support and contributions of the dedicated creators and players and we look forward to many more great years ahead. We hope everyone has a great holiday season and we’ll see you all in 2022 with more new content, updates and features. Happy holidays!
