Root Patch 1.30.3



The Corvid Conspiracy and Underground Duchy have been busy digging into the latest expansion this past week. As a result, we’ve got some fixes to the various gameplay and UI issues you all have reported with our 1.30.3 update.

The new 1.30.3 server update is live now for all platforms and will updates for the following issues in multiplayer games:

  • Fixed an issue where a player could skip discarding to hand size at end if turn if they Exert.
  • Fixed an issue where Harrier could use Glide ability to leave a clearing with a Corvid Snare.
  • Fixed an issue where Sawmills would still produce wood when in a clearing with a revealed Snare token.
  • Fixed a number of issues that could cause the game to hang.

We also have a new 1.30.3 client that can be downloaded through Steam and will soon be available soon through iOS, Android, and Switch. It will have those above fixes for games outside of multiplayer as well as the following:

  • Fixed an issue where the icon for Embedded Agents would disappear from battle results.
  • Fixed an issue where cards revealed through Exposure would be revealed to all players.
  • Fixed an issue where rejoining a multiplayer match while the Corvids are revealing a Plot would leave the icon on screen.

Root: The Underworld Expansion Now Available!



Root: The Underworld Expansion is now available on Steam, Google Play, the App Store and Nintendo Switch!

The fourth expansion to the award-winning digital adaptation of the beloved wargame from Leder Games, Root: The Underworld Expansion introduces two new factions and two new maps to conquer. Advanced Setup rules let you customize the battle ahead. Prove your right to rule with new challenges and achievements that test your tactical mettle!

And, as always, you can play where and when you want: purchasing The Underworld Expansion on any device unlocks it across all platforms via your Dire Wolf account!



New Factions!




  • Underground Duchy – Sway your ministers to lead a righteous expedition to the Woodland, bringing order to the unending war and chaos above.
  • Corvid Conspiracy – Use cunning and trickery to hold the Woodland hostage, instigating plots to seize control through terror.


New Maps!

Trek across outcroppings, clear blocked routes, and hold the mountain pass to show you are an effective leader.

[h2]Lake Map[/h2]

Whisk yourself across the map by travelling on the ferry, meeting new friends and allies along the way.

Advanced Setup!

Advanced Setup is an optional way to draft and set up factions. Bring balance to the woodlands with new setup buffs and give your playgroup more control over their starting locations and hands!
  • Advanced Setup games can be created by players who own 6 or more factions.
  • All players can join an online Advanced Setup game, even if they have not yet purchased expansion content.


New Challenges & Achievements!
  • Record your heroics with ten new Challenges and Achievements!




But wait, there is more! We’ve also been squashing bugs quicker than the Eyrie can swoop down and eat them.

[h2]Now Available in Japan![/h2]
  • Today’s release brings Root to Japan! 森へようこそ!


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Undoing Dominance will no longer result in inaccurate relationship levels
  • Undoing Sanctify and Trading Post will now return the correct warriors to the affected clearing
  • When using gamepad controls, Vagabond will no longer be able to get out of exhausting items to pay for Riverfolk services
  • Vagabond will no longer be able to enter a coalition with a faction already in a coalition
  • A revolt from a coalition partner will no longer damage Vagabond
  • Fixed a softlock on IOS that would occur on victory screen when an opponent won
  • Turmoil caused by Nobility trait will now end Electric Eyrie Turn
  • Lizard Cult is now able to score a card for 0 victory points as a way of influencing the Outcast suit.


[h2]Polish[/h2]
  • Improved camera movements during recruit actions
  • Moving with an Ally rules have been updated to reflect the latest version of The Law of Root
  • Swift Strike prompt now shows what units are in combat
  • To improve async pacing, Vagabond will no longer be prompted to damage items when they have as many or more items to damage than available


[h2]Known Issues[/h2]
We’ve got a few additional pesky little critters that we’re in the process of dealing with. We expect to have solutions here in a future release:

  • Items do not animate properly when Ranger uses Hideout
  • Favor of the Rabbits card in hand image is low resolution on high settings
  • Tutorials skip to the next step when resuming
  • Cards display without proper artwork when opening Quest modal and closing the modal without completing a Quest
  • Coffin Makers does not show opponents how many warriors it has
  • Coffin Makers can make Cats Field Hospital bring 0 warriors back
  • Coffin Maker warriors do not return to supply before buying services
  • Riverfolk show an additional supply added to Coffin Makers

Root Patch 1.29.2



The new 1.29.2 patch for Root includes a variety of bug fixes and small updates to address issues reported by the community:

Fixes
  • Cards can no longer be crafted in Forests
  • Items received via Aid are now appropriately refreshed
  • The Harrier’s Glide ability can no longer move allied warriors
  • Discarding Coffin Makers no longer causes a softlock
  • When Coffin Makers is discarded, any warriors on it should go back to their owner’s supply
  • Undoing Alliance Organize with Coffin Makers in play should return warriors to the supply
  • Crafting or removing Soup Kitchens now updates clearing status appropriately
  • League of Adventurous Mice now affect Turmoil as they should
  • Master Engravers now add to victory points when you craft an item
  • The Marquise should be prompted immediately when a unit is destroyed in the Keep Clearing
  • The Electric Eyrie’s Relentless ability no longer causes a softlock
  • Undoing card selection for Informants should not end the turn
  • Undoing with Informats in play no longer allows looping of end of turn actions
