MCC Development Update – October 2019

Many months ago, the Publishing Team here at 343 Industries embarked on a “Great Journey.” Publicly, nobody knew about this journey until Ske7ch walked onto a stage at Inside Xbox with a box of pizza in hand to announce that MCC was coming to PC. Since then, there have been 7 monthly development blogs published covering the progress that the teams involved have made. Today we are going to touch on many different pieces across the board and how everything is shaping up.

This month we are going to drop on in with a flighting recap as well as talk about the current PC flight. Then, we will move into how crossplay will function within MCC when it comes out (being tested in flight right now), what the matchmaking launch offerings are shaping up to be, and when and where you will get access to all of the legacy content that was migrated over the summer. To close out this month’s blog, we touch on character customization, what options and settings you will be able to use in MCC when Halo: Reach joins the collection, and what the current suggested minimum PC specifications are to run the game in various resolutions.

Let’s get this thing started by getting two more stamps in our passports from the flights of October!

July 2019 Dev Blog

Welcome back to another MCC development update! This month’s will be a bit briefer compared to previous behemoths but still contains a lot of content around the efforts to bring MCC to PC and Halo: Reach to MCC. Rest assured the team and our partners are still very hard at work with lots of goodness, but that has meant it has been a bit harder to get their time to talk at length.

In case you are joining us for the first time, you can catch up on what has been going on over the past few months. Below are the blogs from the months past that touch on MCC coming to PC and Halo: Reach coming to MCC:

Today, we are going to dive into a Halo Insider MCC flighting update, move on over to the Q&A session to discuss some hot topics from the community, and get an update from GrimBrotherOne about MCC PC being at Halo Outpost Discovery in cities all across the country. To wrap everything up we will remind everyone about the Forge content migration that is starting August 12 to bring game types and maps to MCC from Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 before signing off for this month’s dev update with the latest Duck Tales.

Let’s kick this blog off with an update of where flighting is at as we prepare for the next Halo Insider MCC flights for PC and Xbox.

June 2019 Dev Blog

June has come and nearly gone and with it many developments here at 343 with lots of news, excitement, and sharing of what we’ve been working on. Specifically, it’s time for another MCC Development Update. These blogs focus on key updates and activities related to the 343 Publishing Team’s development work. Right now, the team is heads down on Halo: Reach for PC and Xbox – the first stop on the journey to bring the entire Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC. Since our original announcement of these projects, we’ve had a couple large dev update blogs in April and May in case you missed them. (Note: If you did, bring snacks and proper hydration to get through them, there’s a LOT to dig into).

To kick things off we are going to talk a little bit about how we are going to be bringing the maps you created from the original Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4 into MCC! After that, we are going to discuss why Forge and Theater for Halo: Reach will be available for Xbox at launch but will come a bit later for PC.

Following up on last month’s update, we are also going to dive a bit deeper into questions we have seen come up around Halo: Reach’s new progression system that is coming to MCC. We have heard a lot of feedback and questions on this topic and want to dive deeper and remind people that you will be able to play with it and provide feedback when it is flighted in the future. This month I was also able to sit down with MCC for PC’s lead producer, Michael Fahrny, and ask him all sorts of questions sourced from players online. This will have a bunch of random Q&A, so be prepared for topic whiplash. Then, to close this one out, Ske7ch, who was at E3, will be on deck recapping E3 and all the team did down in L.A. this year and a reminder of other ways you can experience the same content as those at the show.
