MCC Development Update – June 2020

Welcome back for another lengthy installment in the MCC Development blog series for June, 2020. We have a LOT of content to cover this month, everything from the recent flight and what folks were able to experience there to details on new features players will have when Halo 3 launches. We’ll also touch on this month’s announcement that Halo 3: ODST Firefight will be coming to MCC (it’s finally happening!). Then we will go into a technical breakdown from members of our engineering teams, conduct a lengthy interview with the Design Team, and get an overall project update to close out the blog.

I hope you are hungry for information because this month’s blog has a lot of meat on its bones!
HALO 3 FLIGHTING
One update, two extensions, and nearly 350,000 Halo Insider invitations later – the Halo 3 PC flight came to a close on Monday. During this flight, the team got some great feedback from our Halo Insiders who submitted tickets, roughly 4,000 tickets in total. With the scale of players and tickets, along with the types of tickets being created, Halo 3 seems to be shaping up solidly on PC. In the flight update that was released last week, the team was able to knock out nearly 100 different bugs, including these two:

 • Improving muffled audio sounds for weapons and VO
 • Resolving player emblems so they appear accurately on character models

Both bugs were items the team had been wanting to tackle for quite some time and are happy to finally have resolved. We are thankful for all the feedback and reports by the community during flighting and will continue to work on resolving issues and making improvements where we can. We can’t wait to get Halo 3 out on PC!
HALO 3 ODST FIREFIGHT
Earlier in the month, you may have heard some rumblings around Halo 3: ODST Firefight coming to MCC. We are all very excited, as ODST is next on the docket once Halo 3 releases. Work has been underway for quite some time and the team has recently hit an important milestone in updating the networking model for its release on MCC. We’ll share more news on when and where flighting will happen in the near future. But, if you want a little bit more info on ODST, head on over to last week’s Community Update from Unyshek to learn how to get in on Firefight when it is released later this Summer!

Head over to Halo Waypoint to read up on the rest now!

MCC Development Update - May 2020

Hey Friends,

Postums here again for another monthly update on all things MCC. This has been a very busy one for all teams involved on the project. We worked diligently on resolving various issues reported by the community from the Halo 2: Anniversary flight earlier in the month, released the game, put out a hot fix update for it, and have continued working on improvements to each of the games across the board. We also have just kicked off Halo 3 flighting to our Ring 1 folks this week as we are continuing development on the remaining titles coming to PC this year. In this update, we’ll be talking through each of these areas as well as a taking closer look at what happens during the “life of a bug”, and finally, we’ll wrap the blog up with an overall update on MCC from Farns. Now, let’s kick this thing off with what folks can expect for Halo 3 flighting.

Let’s dive right into it and get things rolling!
Halo 3 Flighting
Halo 3 is the next game in our lineup making its way to PC. In 2007, it was the Halo title that brought us Theater, Forge, and some of the community’s most beloved gametypes like Grifball, Infection, and many more. Halo 3 holds a special place in many player's hearts and we know it's one of, if not THE most anticipated titles in the collection. In good news, public flighting for Halo 3 PC is on the horizon!

In the first half of next month, we are planning to flight a slice of Halo 3 to Halo Insiders on PC. If you aren’t a Halo Insider already, please head on over HERE and register. If it’s been a while since you have visited your Halo Insider profile, please take some time to make sure everything is up to date with your profile including your PC specs (many folks have been upgrading their machines during quarantine so please make sure your profile is current!). Ensuring you are up-to-date and registered with a valid (and verified!) email, greatly improves your chances of being selected for flights.
