Hellish Quart pre-alpha v.2024.03.16.0

FIX:
- Fixed a bug where you could gain control over your character before the round starts

- Survival Mode: You can now get higher scores in general (around 62 000 max per round, to make sure it's possible to top the high scores resulting from previous exploits)
- Survival Mode: Flawless score is now reserved only for winning by attacking, and not by Grabbing. If you win by Grabbing, Flawless is 0, and Grab score is used instead.
- Survival Mode: Winning by Grappling the opponent is now scored similar to Flawless - the score is lower if you earlier got hit, got blocked, etc., but it has a minimum of 2000 points.

Hotfix 2024.03.11

FIX:

- Fixed a bug with scoring in Survival Mode.

I am sorry guys, it is my fault the bug was there. I am forced to delete any high score above 5 million points, to be certain that it is not a result of this bug. This is necessary to be sure that those scores are achievable with normal gameplay.

Hopefully, a situation like that will not occur in the future, but keep in mind that this is still an Early Access game. It is in active production, and sometimes bugs might happen.

Very sorry for the inconvenience!

Update - online Steam Leaderboards and a new Survival Mode

In this update, we introduce a remade Survival Mode and Steam Leaderboards feature.

In the new Survival Mode, you will attempt to fight and survive through 30 consecutive duels. Regardless of the outcome, your fighting skills will be scored, with each game character having a separate score. The objective of this game mode is to achieve the highest score possible. You must decide between fighting cautiously to maximize the chance of progressing to another duel and fighting fast and risky to maximize your score.

You earn points for:

- A quick win - how swiftly you can defeat the opponent; the longer the match lasts, the fewer points you receive
- Aggression - points are added for advancing towards the enemy and forcing them to block your attacks
- Successful attacks - when you wound your opponent
- Hitting the Opponent in the head or body
- Blocking an attack
- Winning a Round by grappling
- Flawless Victory - you gain the most points for a one-hit clean kill, some points for parry-riposte kills, and no points if you get hit

You lose points for:

- Attacks that missed - when you swing in the air without hitting anything
- Getting hit
- Lack of aggression - walking backward or allowing the opponent to advance

You can find this information in the Training\Tutorial menu in the game.

Whether you survive the entire 30 fights or not, your top score will be uploaded to a Steam Leaderboard, so you and everyone else can see how well you did.
As always, this is all optional.
When launching Hellish Quart, you can choose to play with or without Steam. If you choose to play without Steam, the game will simply not initialize the Steam SDK and will be launched as a completely standalone, DRM-free program. The new Survival Mode will work, but the score will be saved only in a save file on your hard drive, and will not be uploaded anywhere.

Have fun and good luck getting on top of the leaderboards!

Update 2024.02.28.0

Hellish Quart pre-alpha v.2024.02.28.0

TWEAK:
- Sorted out attacks after dodge mechanics: When you dodge and press an attack right after, the attack will buffer and play with 0.12s delay. This rule is just for normal attacks. It does not apply to special moves that require you to press a direction two times first.
- Sorted out pushing, taunting and grabbing after dodge mechanics. Grabs and Pushes: If you dodge and press X+Y or X+A, etc. up to 0.12s after, the grab or push will buffer and play after the active frames of the dodge. Taunts: If you press Y+B within 0.12s after inputting Dodge, the taunt will not happen.
- Yendrek: is now affected by Attack Homing Factor options (more fighters to do as we go)
- Up to 8 controllers supported (before was 4)
- River arena: can now be randomly selected by the game in Survival and History Buff modes if it is unlocked or No Progression mode is selected

- Gallows arena, Dungeon arena, Stables arena: different lighting
- Marta: a bit larger tip thrust detector
- Jacek: starts walking forward a bit faster if the right foot is forward
- Isabella: RFF Snap cut initial trajectory tweak to not go under the guard

FIX:
- Yendrek, Samuel, Barabasz, Isabella, Gedeon, Zera: Fixed regression after engine change: blood decals (more fighters will be fixed as we go)
- Changes in the camera rig structure required by the new engine

Known issues:
- sometimes ragdolls get "exploded" into space after a defended grab
- sometimes cloth simulation spawns broken
