Development Update - Workers!

Greetings to all kebab lovers!

It's been quite some time since we last meet on a development update. That's the second time we dug into development and stay silent for a while. But yet again, we are back with even more!

While we're gone, we have made a lot of improvements, developed new features and dealt with balancing in game economy in order to provide a smooth gameplay and progression feeling for you. Of course we will be introducing all of these changes but as always, we have one big topic at a time.

Also, we will be having some great news for you this very month. The day is getting closer than ever before! Don't forget to join our discord channel from here to hear all about the news. Now on to the topic!
Worker AI
You are finally be able to hire AI workers for your restaurant to help you run the business! This was one of the most requested features in our discord channel. Our initial thought about it to deliver this feature after early access. But then we decided to bring it before the release because when we reach late game stages, it is essential to have employees on your side to help you run the restaurant.

For now, you will have option to hire waiters and cleaners.

Waiters: Will help you deliver dishes, collect money and take orders from customers.

Janitors: Will clean the restaurant, and provide you with a hygienic environment.

But how does this all work? How waiter AI knows which dish to bring to which table? This is where plate marking system comes in
Marked Plates
As you can see above, there is a plate marked as ready to serve! Players are able to mark dishes they prepared with current active orders. When a plate is marked, an icon appears on top of the plate and any available waiter will take it to the corresponding table.

However, this feature is also intended to use on Co-Op! This means you will also be marking plates for your friends. Whenever a players takes a marked plate, the table which plate belongs to will be highlighted to player who carries the plate. This way, you will be running your businness more smoothly and communication between players will be much more easy!

So let's call it a new beginning, small part of a long chain. I assure you that there will be much more updates and announcements in a short time and one of them is about a prologue edition of the game!

See you very soon and thanks for reading all the way down here!

Development Update - Huge UI Update!

Greetings, Kebab Lovers!

We are finally here with another dev update. This one is going to be about UI/UX rework we have done after the steam next fest.

Before jumping into the topic, I wanted to share that we are planning to organize a Q&A event live on our Discord channel!

During the Q&A event, we will be answering to all of your questions about the game and the game’s future. We will be announcing the date soon. So don’t forget to join our discord server if you are interested!

As we announced in our Discord server, Kebab Simulator’s early access release is postponed to early 2023. This is because we want to be able to offer you an immersive experience and be sure that you will be having a very smooth multipayer experience.

This is the longest dev update we have published so far. So please let us know how do you like our new UI in the comments. You are also welcomed to drop your suggestions in our discord channel. We would love to see you there. Hope to see you in much longer dev updates!

Back to the topic! UI... As mentioned before, we have been making changes on huge part of our game’s UI. Despite we think new UI looks way more better now, it's not the actual reason. It also made a huge impact on the functionality and became much more player friendly.
Main Menu
Our first UI rework applies to ALL of the main menu UI. Yes, We re-designed them all over again...

First reason for this is to have a consistent UI color palette for all of the main menu UI (which we didn’t have before). On the other hand, making them compatible and easy to navigate through other game modes which we will be having in the future.
Say goodbye to book UI
If you tried our demo, you may remember that we had what we call a "game book" which had the huge portion of in-game UI functionality in it. Well, it doesn't exist anymore... Actually, we were pretty happy with a book themed UI. But there were some critical issues with that book UI which were giving us some hard time.

The biggest challenge comes with such a UI theme is the expandability. We had our base system running just fine on that UI. But when it comes to adding new functionality, it quickly came out that it is so hard to extend that UI and apply what we had in mind on two seperate piece of blank space which are being the pages of the book. It was so time consuming to come up with a perfect UX design that we can apply to a book themed UI.

What we had come up with is to replace the book with a tablet which is often used in simulation games. This way, when we are in need of some free space for a new mechanic, we are just going to add another application to our tablet. And that's it!

Recipes and Menu
Item & Ingredient Info
Todays last rework goes to item and ingredient info indicators. Before the update, we had a simple plain text displaying the name of the item which you are hovering. Now, we have a small pop-up which contains every possible info about that item in itself. Looks better huh?

And that's it for another dev update. Me and my teammates are doing our best to create the most enjoyable experience we could. We apologize for the expectations for this year. But hopefully 2023 will be a great year for Kebab Simulator.

Development Update - New Game Mode + Bonus!

Greetings Kebab Chefs!

It has been a while since we last posted a development update. But that doesn't mean we don't have any news to share. In fact, we have more updates to share in the following days.

Today, we will be having a glance at a small portion of Kebab Simulator's future. As you may know, there won't be single game mode in Kebab Simulator. Since the game can be played multiplayer, we will be adding more game modes over the time to make Kebab Simulator a game which always funny to play with friends.
Kebab Chef Studio!
Here is our new map for our brand new game mode, Kebab Studios! As you can notice, this new game mode will be about competition instead of cooperation. This time, there is no teamwork. There is conspirancy now! So that means you will try to beat other players via making the best dish you can ever make in a limited time. But also watch out for those who would sabotage your kitchen!
Bonus: Pets!
Bonus news of this development update is pets getting added to Kebab Simulator in Early Access stage!
You will be able to adopt, feed and pet animals in the game!

We have been working on this pet update for a while and it will be added to game after the early access release. It's a very early feature, but we thought you would like to hear about it!

And that's it for another dev update. But like said before, there are much more updates on the way.

If you would like to contribute to our game or see what's going on, please don't forget to join us on discord. We really would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions for the game!

Development Update - Playability Improvements

Greetings Kebab Chefs!

On the last update, we had introduced some visual improvements we made on the environment. Today, we will be taking a step to the technical side and focusing more on the playability improvements that we have been working on after the demo event.

Thanks to everyone who played the demo and shared their feedbacks with us, we made some changes that makes the game more practical and easier to play.

We also made some small changes on the item positioning system so players could work more symmetrically on their restaurant.
Grid System and Rotating Items Gradually!
Good news for perfectionists! Now you have more control on orientating and positioning your furnitures mathematically perfect.
Gathering Items Quickly!
Demo shown us that carrying or plating items one by one every single time is a real pain. What we come up with is you can just grab a plate, pot or bowl and gather ingredients on to these quickly just by clicking them. Fast and effective, which would help improve the productivity in game.
Interacting While Holding An Item!
We also got so many feedbacks about being able to interact with the environment while holding items. After the demo, this was one of our top priority tasks and we are happy to say that now it's possible!
Snapping System Improved!
We saw that a lot of people who played the demo couldn't really get snapping to work while placing items. So we had improved the snapping system and made it much more easier to use!

And that's it for today, we would have some exiciting news for you on the next diary. Hope to see you very soon again!

As you have read on today's episode, we are improving the game based on your feedbacks. Don't forget to join us on discord. We really would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions for the game!
