Settlement Zero News

Update v0.1.3

* Impact Grenades Added. These can be found scattered around the environment. Store/Retrieve grenades using the Left controller's Menu Button ( Y Button on the Rift).
* HUD has been updated to display the current number of grenades in your possession.

The grenades will explode immediately on impact with anything when thrown, but will not explode if shot with your laser. This means you can use your laser to ‘push’ grenades that are just out of your reach.

Update v0.1.2

* Battery upgrades x2 and x4 now available as pickups for your raygun. There are several scattered around the environment. Upgrade is performed by picking up the battery with your left hand (using left trigger), and moving it to your raygun.
* Robots now use Ragdoll Physics when shot down or knocked down by an abject, or thrown around by an explosion.
* Batteries can be used as small explosives. Your raygun’s laser will detonate them. Careful as they can also give you damage. They have a relatively small blast radius, but will detonate other batteries in a chain reaction if they are in blast range. Note that they don’t explode if thrown ( grenades will be added in a future update….)

Update v0.1.1

This is an intermediate update.

* Ability to pickup, drop and throw objects scattered around the environment.
* Robots reacting to being hit by laser fire or objects thrown at them.
* Ability to use of Raygun’s laser to push pickup-able objects.

Your right hand closes when close to an item that can be pickup up. Press the Right Trigger Button when very close to pickup it up, and keep pressed to hold onto it. To throw an item, swing arm and release trigger ( remember to make sure your play space is totally clear from anything breakable! )

Another way to see what can be picked up is by firing at it. If it moves, then it can be picked up!

KEYS CHANGE
JUMP has been moved to the Right Controller Trackpad Down for VIVE, and Button A on the Right Controller for the RIFT

Settlement Zero Early Access Now Available!

Settlement Zero is now available to explore!

A few points to note about this initial Early Access release so you know what to expect if you choose to buy.

* Player is free to explore the map with free locomotion using controller’s joystick or trackpad, with interpolated snap turn if desired. There is no plan to add movement using teleportation.

* The menu option to switch the raygun to the left hand didn’t make it into this initial release, and is currently fixed to the right, but this option is planned for a future update.

* Robot Combat AI in the initial release I would describe as basic and to the point, but very effective. Much more varied and creative behaviour is planned for future releases.

* Currently, the only survival game elements are making sure you avoid being hit, limit your sprinting and only jump down from big heights when your life depends on it.

* There is no tutorial. Controls information can been found in the INFO menu option in the Start Menu.

* There is currently no save game option, but due to the open nature of the game replaying shouldn’t be too much of a chore as you are free to take a totally different route and strategy.

Hope you enjoy your time in Settlement Zero!
