Today, we're pulling back the curtain to reveal the complete list of in-game biomes, their unique characteristics, the inhabitants that call them home, and the captivating stories that lie within. ๐ŸŒฒ

[h3]Greenwood[/h3]

Welcome to a world where legends intertwine with reality. Here, beneath the protective canopy of ancient trees, you'll find abundant resources ready to serve as the foundation for your new settlement. This is a place where a student becomes a master, where sharp eyes and quick wits take precedence over experience, and each step deeper into the forest brings you closer to an encounter with the Baron of Hubris.

Greenwood marks the beginning of your journey. Amidst rustling leaves and elusive shadows, you'll face your first trials. The difficulty level changes the face of the forest, luring you deeper into its mysterious heart.

Here, Slavic mythology isn't confined to mere folklore; it springs to life, serving as your compass to navigate a forest that has witnessed numerous battles and the rise of new civilizations.

Greenwood eagerly awaits those who are ready to accept its challenge. It is waiting for you.

[h3]The Swamp[/h3]

The swamp is an incredible, yet challenging place, filled with mystery and danger. Here, nature itself becomes your ultimate challenger.

Abundant water and treacherous terrain will pose challenges for building placement, demanding a display of your ingenuity.

For warriors and mages, prolonged exposure to the water will lead to debilitating debuffs that decrease their health, armor, and damage. Crafting a strategic plan for unit placement and carefully managing their time in these watery expanses is imperative.

Only ephemeral mobs have the ability to traverse the waters effortlessly, leaving everyone else with no choice but to navigate the perilous swamp. This necessitates a fresh approach to dealing with adversaries, emphasizing long-range tactics. Developing a comprehensive strategy to confront diverse foes, including the formidable swamp monsters (details of which we will share in forthcoming posts), will be key to your success.

Prepare to immerse yourself in the Swamp's challenges, but remember not to let it engulf you entirely.

[h3]Pinewood[/h3]

Welcome to Pinewood. Here, players must adapt to an early, brutal winter and change their strategy to overcome the abundance of challenges that this cold land will provide.

Pinewood is a home to Nightmares, incorporeal monsters that will regularly attack the settlement. Handling them will demand precious firewood or spirit, which won't come easy and will require careful resource management and strategic prioritization.

The location's boss is the Baron of Wrath, whose strength and unrelenting fury pose a formidable and intimidating obstacle in your path. Facing him will be a true test of your mettle.

Prepare yourself for the biting cold of winter in Pinewood!

[h3]Dead Forest[/h3]

Welcome to the eerie realm of the Dead Forest, where every rustle in the underbrush foretells an ominous future, and a sense of anxious anticipation clings to your thoughts, regardless of the hour. The forest's imposing silhouette, intricate terrain, and scarcity of resources will demand meticulous planning for every move, while the relentless battle for sustenance will rigorously test your survival instincts.

The ruling entities in these darkened woods are none other than the formidable Baron of Lust and the enigmatic Knyaz Velimir himself.

Resist the encroaching grip of the Dead Forest on your imagination. Your valor and resolve will ultimately shape your destiny in this uncharted territory.

Development update | 01.06.2023



Hello,

We realise that weโ€™ve been quiet for too long and we apologise for not being able to communicate. Now we have a planning horizon, very enthusiastic and ready to share updates with you, and most importantly, from now on we will be doing it regularly.

Your response to our Gamescom trailer, which, by the way, has already reached half a million views, as well as comments on our socials, made it clear how much you want to immerse yourself in the game. Your enthusiasm and belief in Night is Coming has been overwhelming, and it has inspired us to work even harder, and all of this effort is reflected in the game. We tried to achieve the perfect balance between ancient Slavic way of life and exciting gameplay.



The Night is Coming team has grown and now more than 20 people working on the game, who are committed to not only completing development but also to further developing and improving the game after release.

A lot of different and important work has been done. All building models, level design, weather, vegetation, resources, and farm have been reworked. Weโ€™ve significantly improved game optimisation and fixed critical bugs. VFX effects and interface have been completely redesigned. We've also reworked the bestiary, and now you can access it in the game, with new illustrations and descriptions of the monsters. We added totems and reworked the spirit tower, spells, and mages. And this is just the tip of the iceberg of the many changes that will be made to the game. Also, we plan to release DLC after the game release, but we will tell you all about it later.

Materials are currently being prepared to detail the updates and improvements, and soon we will show you a video with all the key changes we made during this time.



Night is Coming is already in the pre-release stage, and we are actively testing internally to make sure the gameplay is smooth and balanced. Stay tuned!
