Weekly Report #39

Hello, stalkers!
This week we will talk (again) about what we’re doing now. Recently we’ve reminded you that we’re getting close to the premiere - that means we are focusing mostly on polishing the existing content. That’s all about making the game look better, run more smoothly, bug hunting and much more.

Read the report and changelog to learn more about recent Mega Patch number 6, called “The Truth”:
https://steamcommunity.com/games/1016800/announcements/detail/2896333730298683249
https://steamcommunity.com/games/1016800/announcements/detail/2867058981742152933
Bloody, messy, more realistic
We’re working not only on polishing the most important things, like mission chains but also on the details. As we’re always telling you about our trips to Chernobyl, how we’ve scanned the areas and even some small objects, we should also tell you that we pay a lot of attention to the more “gameplay” details.

But what about even smaller details? Like for example… blood? We’re working on making the game as realistic as we can, having in mind the gameplay rules and objectives, of course. That’s why we’re trying to make blood splashes better. On these gifs, you can notice the new Igor’s animations too when he is shot by soldiers.
NPC getting better
One element of the optimization process is working on NPCs - their gear, behaviour, look. For example, recently we’ve told you that we’re improving soldiers' reactions. If Igor starts shooting at them, they’ll keep their distance if possible. You can’t see that on these gifs, but they also try to take cover to shoot him back from a safe spot. That feature was there for a long time, but some weeks ago we’ve shown you how we’re working on that behaviour.

But improvements don’t stop at the AI. We’re also making NPCs more “real”, meaning that they should look as realistic as they would look in real life - if they would really live in the Zone and we would meet them there.
We need your help!
For you to better understand how is the optimization done: every piece of new content needs to work with other pieces. No matter if that’s a model of a tree, a new suit for one of the NPCs or the whole new mission.

Adding or changing even a single element can mean that other elements will not work properly. Of course, we’ve our tools to check the compatibility of them and our testers constantly look into every change like that to make sure it WILL work. But sometimes even that doesn’t help so that’s why we need your help!

New level in progress!

If you encounter any problem during your play, please report that on our Steam Forum. Our tech team is monitoring it, so they will try to help you and to take care of it in the game. First, they will try to reproduce it, then they will report it to our programmers' team. Then the bug or glitch can be fixed!

That’s why your feedback is so important for us!

Weekly Report #38

So it has been a week since the new Mega Patch arrived! “The Truth” improved many things, added a lot of content, including new side quests, UI changes, level and much more! So today we’ll talk more about the things we’ve spoken about last Friday.

If you’re interested in learning all about these changes, you can read our Changelog:
https://steamcommunity.com/games/1016800/announcements/detail/2867058981742152933
Have you tried... visiting the prison?
Okay, maybe “visiting” isn’t the best word - after all, you have to let the NAR soldiers capture you. But if you have been in the prison BEFORE the recent Mega Patch, you will definitely see the difference.

We have totally rebuilt the location, so if you remember the buggy, not-so-finished prison… then you remember the simple testing “site” which was useful to look for any technical troubles before introducing to you a proper one.

Not only is the prison a completely new level, but it’s also more difficult to escape - and we recommend you try it at least once or twice. That can be fun!
Have you tried… saving your checkpoint?
Remember all those moments, all those tough missions where you wish you could save your game? Well, you can do it now! Since the Mega Patch release last Friday, we introduced this option. This is one of the smaller improvements but can be extremely useful.

You can save your game by entering the menu (“ESC” on keyboard) and there you should see it! You can also load one of those “checkpoints” from the main menu - the one which you see when you start the game.
Have you tried... our new UI?
We really count on your feedback with this one! We’ve reworked the User Interface so it would be more informative, a place where you can check on almost everything important for your gameplay.

You can see how your companions are doing, you can check your recipes and what can be crafted, you can look up your perks & skills - those that Igor “brought” with him to the Zone, but also those learned during his journey to find Tatiana.

You can see the new UI by pressing “I” on the keyboard and navigating towards those 3 tabs. Tell us how you like them!
Have you tried... looking beyond?
That’s a complicated one. We’ve put many smaller or larger Easter Eggs, but you should definitely try to find other “winks” from our team. For example, just a few days ago we heard from a player that scanned the QR code that we’ve put on an identity card Igor can find while searching for clues important to his investigations. Just out of pure curiosity!

What did he find you may ask? Well, we don’t want to spoil you the pleasure of discovering that! But you should definitely pay attention to the details. Just like Igor should do when looking for Tatiana!
