Version 0.48 - Quality of Life, Bug Fixes, and Optimization

We return with a patch including some quality of life updates, a bunch of big fixes, and fixing your GPU sounding like it was a wind turbine.


[h2]Features[/h2]
  • Game Notifications have now been split into three categories - FFA, Duel, & Co-op - allowing you to define which type of notifications you'd like to receive.
    • When receiving a Game Notification, it now displays who's hosting it.
  • Added an Extras button to the Main Menu.
    • The menu Tower Table has been moved here.
    • Also moved the Replays button here.
    • Added a Credits screen. We'll be updating this over time as we get more Translations implemented.


[h2]Quality of Life[/h2]
  • When hovering over a creep, there's now a hover indicator.
  • There's now a visual spawn and leak effect.
  • Doubled default Zoom In/Out speed.
  • Duel Mode: In the Lobby, it now gives you an explanation of how the game mode works, to clarify that it is different from the standard game.
  • Duel Mode: When someone uses an ability, a message appears on screen.
  • Duel Mode: The enemy portal is now marked with a skull marker, so that you can tell which one enemy creeps will spawn from.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed a major bug where the game could randomly freeze, resulting in everyone's gold gradually draining, resulting in a soft-lock.
  • Fixed a major bug where someone pausing the game and then quitting could lock everyone else in the game.
    • It now automatically unpauses when they leave.
  • Fixed a major bug where the end-game Scorescreen sometimes wouldn't appear, resulting in the game next ending and thus your score not being submitted to the Leaderboard.
  • Fixed a bug where it was possible to get a God Mode score uploaded to the Leaderboard.
  • Fixed multiplayer input lag getting to ludicrously high levels.
  • Fixed a bug where you could pause more than 3 times in Multiplayer.
  • Fixed an annoying bug where clicking on a creep wouldn't actually select or target them.
  • Fixed a bug where creeps were doing a spin-dance turn after spawning on certain maps.
  • Fixed the portals on the Temple map floating in mid-air.
  • Fixed one of the portals getting hidden by a mountain on the Winter map.
  • Fixed Scoreboard listing Builder instead of Player Name.
    • We're not sure why it said that before, nor do we know how it took us this long to notice.
  • Co-op Mode: Everyone's score is now totaled, instead of individual.
  • Co-op Mode: Fixed incorrect starting gold on Ronald Run length.
  • Co-op Mode: Fixed only Player 1 getting the Freebie Essence.
  • Co-op Mode: Fixed only Player 1 hearing Wave Start/End sounds.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed a bug where, if you have a group of towers selected and they get Frost Zoned, you could sell them.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed a bug where, if you select a group of towers that were already Frost Zoned, you couldn't sell them even when the duration ended.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed Flamethrower's napalm not healing your creeps.


[h2]Optimization[/h2]
  • We've disabled Vsync, and instead, the framerate is capped at 60, resulting in much lower GPU usage.
  • Certain laggy towers, like Nature 3 and Trickery 2 & 3 are slightly less shiny in favor of not halving the framerate.
  • Projectiles have received some optimization as well.


[h2]Balance[/h2]
  • In Random, the earliest a Level 3 Elemental can spawn is now Wave 35 instead of Wave 30.


Next week, by popular demand, look forward to Teams Mode, which will enable 2 Player Co-op on all of our standard maps. Also look forward to balance updates in the next week or so. For the time being though, the game should run better and no longer be prone to spontaneous freezes and crashes.
