Roadmap - Next Few Versions

It's been a little while since our last update! This is just a progress update to keep you apprised of what we're working on for the next few versions. In a nutshell, we're in the process of implementing Quad Element Towers, but it's going to take some time, so we're working on a couple of versions before we get there.
Version 1.2
Our next version is focused on updating War Mode. Currently, it's a fun 1v1 mode, but it's got a bunch of flaws. Over the last few weeks, we've made a number of adjustments to it, and numerous tests on the alpha branch have proven it to be much easier to get into, while still being fast-paced and rife with counterplay!

In fact, we'd argue it's got the potential to be a better competitive option than the standard game, and to that end, this update will include Ranked War as well.

On top of that, Version 1.2 will include:
  • Map Variant scores will be submittable to the Leaderboard
  • Balance fixes
    • Yes, this means a Leaderboard Reset
  • Numerous bug fixes
    • We're aware of the random menu freezing, as well as an increased surge in desyncs, among other things. Hopefully we'll figure these things out soon!

Expect to see this update out within the next two weeks!
Version 1.3
Many of you have been asking for a mode that brings the Tower Specializations from the Campaign in the game's multiplayer environment, and that's what we're going to do! This'll be a modifier that you can apply to every mode. Do note that turning this mode on will disable Leaderboard Submissions.

In addition to that modifier, we'll also be adding a Same Pick option. How it'll work is that one player gets to choose the first element pick for everyone, next player chooses the next pick for everyone, and so on and so forth. Which player it starts on will be randomized, and it'll just cycle through each player until all 11 Picks are selected.

Expect to see these two modifiers up by early September!
Quad Towers
Meanwhile, while we're working on those two updates, we'll be working on the long-awaited Quad Element Towers! We've perused through all the Tower Suggestions you folks have posted on the Forums and our Discord, and some of them have made it into the list, with tweaks of course. At this point, the Quads List is about finalized, but in off-chance we have to scrap an idea, keep posting more suggestions!

Expect Quads to arrive sometime in Q4, along with the next major balance patch. Whether this means the start of October or the end of December, it's hard to say right now. As we get closer though, we'll start dropping previews for these and get a better idea of its release window.

Lastly, one thing we'd like to note is that although we are adding a Ranked War, we're not adding a Ranked Teams, at least not yet. The reason for this is that due to the increased player count (4 as opposed to 2), it'd require a lot of work on the backend to get up and running. We know this one's been highly requested, and it's not out of the question, but presently, we're holding off on it because it'd delay everything else by a considerable amount.

That's it for the preview! For now, given how god awful our time estimates tend to be, we're keeping this one vague and just detailing out the rest of the year. Odds are, Mazing DLC won't be arriving till next year. Once we get these updates out the door, we'll get back to you folks on that one.

1.1.4 - More Localization Improvements

A couple more languages have been expanded!
Fixes & Improvements
• Korean and Spanish localization expanded for full coverage.

Currently in the works is expanded localization for Chinese, German, French, and Italian. Those will all come via a hotfix in the near future.

We are looking for help with Japanese, Romanian, and Czech languages. Please reach out via Discord if interested.

1.1.3 - Localization Improvements

We know that incomplete localization has been a concern for many of our international players. We're happy that this update expands support for localization to near complete coverage of text.
Fixes & Improvements
The entire campaign now supports localization. With that localization coverage is now 99%!
Russian localization both improved and expanded for full coverage.
Swedish and Turkish localization expanded for full coverage.
German and Italian localization improved (but not expanded yet).
Slightly reduced thresholds for tiers (silver, gold etc.) in ranked.

Currently in the works is expanded localization for Chinese, German, Korean, French, and Italian. Those should all come in another hotfix shortly, 1.1.4.

We are looking for help with Spanish, Japanese, Romanian, Czech, Dutch, Portuguese, and Finnish languages. Please reach out via Discord if interested.

1.1.2 - More Hotfixes
Fixes & Improvements
Fixed a bug that resulted in Replays ending up different from the actual game. This only affected games involving players that had personal Focus/Priority Presets different from default.
  • This is not retroactive with existing replays, meaning the affected replays will still end up "incorrect".
  • That said however, we have decided not to reset the Score Leaderboards. So if you find a Replay is a little bit off from the intended result, this would be why.
Fixed a bug where a player leaving a Co-op game would break the replay
The "Cancel" button on the Replay Viewer now works as intended
Fixed a bug where the host in a Co-op game would receive the Boss Hunter Achievement (reach Wave 64), but the other players in the game didn't
Fixed Teams per-map win achievement potentially not working sometimes
Fixed Greed is Good Achievement requiring 500k gold, instead of the intended 50k gold. Derp.
In Lobby, (Host) has been relabeled to (Leader)
  • Hopefully, this helps clarify that the game is server-based, not Peer-to-Peer
Fixed a bug where only the player with the killing blow would get the Wave Cleared sound in Teams Adjusted "Synchronizing" message in-game to say "Waiting for Player"
Various Localizations & Tooltips updated for clarity

With that, we've covered most of the bugs from Version 1.1, and now we've shifted focus to Version 1.2! We'll announce more info in the coming weeks on its progress.
