Version 0.49.1 - Challenges Fixed

[h2]Fixes[/h2]
  • Starting gold for Challenges is no longer 250 for every single one; each Challenge is back to having their own starting gold amount.
  • Freshened up the Credits, now properly includes all translators thus far.
  • Potentially fixed a bug where, upon booting up, the game freezes and you can't even get to the Main Menu.
    • We've been unable to reproduce this bug ourselves; as thus, we can't confirm if it's fixed.

Version 0.49 - Teams, Bug Fixes, and More Localization

For this patch, Version 0.49, we've added a Teams Mode, which should appeal to those of you asking for the experience of Co-op but with just 2 Players, we fixed that darn freeze error (hopefully once and for all), added Russian, Chinese, French, & Finnish Localization, and other improvements. Check it out below!


[h2]Features[/h2]
  • Teams Mode added!
    • 2 Players to a zone, allows up to 2v2v2v2!
    • You can even solo it, meaning you reap all the gold benefits instead of splitting it with a partner.
    • Supports all of the existing maps, except Grand City, which we kept as-is for the existing Co-op Mode.
  • Russian, Chinese, French, & Finnish Localization Support added!
  • Expanded the Frame Cap options.
    • 60 is still the default, but you can now select options for 90, 120, and Uncapped.
    • FYI, if you select Uncapped, we recommend turning on Vsync via NVIDIA/AMD.


[h2]Improvements & Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed a major bug where Jinx could sometimes freeze the game.
  • In a Co-op Game, if someone leaves the game, it will now forcibly sell all of their towers, and then split their gold evenly among the remaining players.
    • Likewise, in the new Teams Mode, the respective partner reaps the rewards from someone leaving.
  • Optimized the tower targeting code, which should help with end-game lag.
    • Late-game Co-op is still a lagfest; HOWEVER, going off-screen should actually help now.
  • During a Multiplayer Pause as a result of lag or something, the game will now display "Synchronizing".
  • Fixed a bug where Disease could deal so much damage, it could somehow heal a creep or Elemental Boss back to full.
  • Fixed a bug where, if you built a tower from the Tower Table, then opened the table again, it would retain the highlights from the previous tower.
  • Fixed a bug where having a UI Scale other than x1.0 would cause a black bar to show up on the Extras menu.
  • Fixed Easy Difficulty displaying a difficulty multiplier of x0 instead of x0.25.
  • Fixed a bug where viewing a replay with a clear time longer than 55 minutes would display a speed multiplier of x0.


That's it for this patch! Our next patch, Version 0.50, is looking to be a bit chunky. It's probably going to take us upwards of 3 weeks before we release it, but it should be worth the wait. A little preview of what's to come:

Regarding the Challenges --> Campaign overhaul, a good chunk of it is reliant on the next patch's updates, so that's still some ways away.

Version 0.48 - Quality of Life, Bug Fixes, and Optimization

We return with a patch including some quality of life updates, a bunch of big fixes, and fixing your GPU sounding like it was a wind turbine.


[h2]Features[/h2]
  • Game Notifications have now been split into three categories - FFA, Duel, & Co-op - allowing you to define which type of notifications you'd like to receive.
    • When receiving a Game Notification, it now displays who's hosting it.
  • Added an Extras button to the Main Menu.
    • The menu Tower Table has been moved here.
    • Also moved the Replays button here.
    • Added a Credits screen. We'll be updating this over time as we get more Translations implemented.


[h2]Quality of Life[/h2]
  • When hovering over a creep, there's now a hover indicator.
  • There's now a visual spawn and leak effect.
  • Doubled default Zoom In/Out speed.
  • Duel Mode: In the Lobby, it now gives you an explanation of how the game mode works, to clarify that it is different from the standard game.
  • Duel Mode: When someone uses an ability, a message appears on screen.
  • Duel Mode: The enemy portal is now marked with a skull marker, so that you can tell which one enemy creeps will spawn from.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed a major bug where the game could randomly freeze, resulting in everyone's gold gradually draining, resulting in a soft-lock.
  • Fixed a major bug where someone pausing the game and then quitting could lock everyone else in the game.
    • It now automatically unpauses when they leave.
  • Fixed a major bug where the end-game Scorescreen sometimes wouldn't appear, resulting in the game next ending and thus your score not being submitted to the Leaderboard.
  • Fixed a bug where it was possible to get a God Mode score uploaded to the Leaderboard.
  • Fixed multiplayer input lag getting to ludicrously high levels.
  • Fixed a bug where you could pause more than 3 times in Multiplayer.
  • Fixed an annoying bug where clicking on a creep wouldn't actually select or target them.
  • Fixed a bug where creeps were doing a spin-dance turn after spawning on certain maps.
  • Fixed the portals on the Temple map floating in mid-air.
  • Fixed one of the portals getting hidden by a mountain on the Winter map.
  • Fixed Scoreboard listing Builder instead of Player Name.
    • We're not sure why it said that before, nor do we know how it took us this long to notice.
  • Co-op Mode: Everyone's score is now totaled, instead of individual.
  • Co-op Mode: Fixed incorrect starting gold on Ronald Run length.
  • Co-op Mode: Fixed only Player 1 getting the Freebie Essence.
  • Co-op Mode: Fixed only Player 1 hearing Wave Start/End sounds.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed a bug where, if you have a group of towers selected and they get Frost Zoned, you could sell them.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed a bug where, if you select a group of towers that were already Frost Zoned, you couldn't sell them even when the duration ended.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed Flamethrower's napalm not healing your creeps.


[h2]Optimization[/h2]
  • We've disabled Vsync, and instead, the framerate is capped at 60, resulting in much lower GPU usage.
  • Certain laggy towers, like Nature 3 and Trickery 2 & 3 are slightly less shiny in favor of not halving the framerate.
  • Projectiles have received some optimization as well.


[h2]Balance[/h2]
  • In Random, the earliest a Level 3 Elemental can spawn is now Wave 35 instead of Wave 30.


Next week, by popular demand, look forward to Teams Mode, which will enable 2 Player Co-op on all of our standard maps. Also look forward to balance updates in the next week or so. For the time being though, the game should run better and no longer be prone to spontaneous freezes and crashes.

Version 0.47 - Localization, Tower Table Filters, Bug Fixes

Version 0.47 is now out! In this release, we have Localization for several langues, Tower Table Filters have been added, there's our usual bout of network improvements and Bug Fixes, and we now have a way to preview builds on the Main Menu. We also have a fancy new promo:

[h2]Features[/h2]
  • Localization has been added! This is a rough first pass and more iterations are will occur for each language. The game now supports the following Languages:
    • Spanish
    • German
    • Dutch
    • Italian
    • Swedish
  • Tower Table filters have been added, among other improvements!
    • Filters are sorted by Range, and then Support filters.
    • You can also hover over an Element or Tower to highlight related towers.
      • We're aware the pop-up info can block some of this and we'll be implementing a fix on this soon.
  • The Tower Table has also been added to the Main Menu! Additionally, you can preview builds:
    • Left-click to increase an element's level.
    • Right-click to decrease the element's level.


[h2]Improvements[/h2]
  • Further network improvements, as usual.
  • Lobbies no longer auto-start when they hit 8 Players.
  • F2 now only jumps between living players.
  • Duel Mode: Frost Zone now prevents affected towers from being upgraded.


[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Attempt number 2 at fixing the mid-game disconnect bug.
    • If anyone's still running into this, please let us know.
  • Fixed a bug where trying to kick a player wouldn't actually work.
  • Fixed a bug where Challenges were locked in at 30 Creeps per Wave, which resulted in certain challenges becoming outright impossible.
  • Fixed inconsistency in button sounds on the Main Menu.
  • Fixed the Scoreboard hiding itself when the Game Over Screen popped up.
  • Fixed a bug where playing on Extreme + 2 Paths caused the number of Ronalds to increase by an exponential amount for each wave that passed.
  • Duel Mode: Fixed a bug where all lives gained as a result of Life Tower were going to Player 1.


[h2]Balance[/h2]
  • Easy Score Modifier increased from x0 to x0.25
  • The Speed Score Multiplier will now drop to a minimum of x0.5, instead of dropping all the way to x0.
  • Leaderboards are not reset as a result of this.
