Hey Folks!

Just a heads-up that most of the team are going to be taking the next week-and-a-half off to be with family. So we'll be scarce online, and won't be making any new builds during that time.

We'll pick up where we left off in the new year, probably on the 2nd. And in case of emergencies (e.g. Steam build no longer downloads, spambot invasion), we're still basically around.

From all of us here, we hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season, and we wish you all a healthy and prosperous 2024!

Ostranauts Hotfix Patch (0.13.0.5) Is Live!

Hey Folks!

Just a heads-up that we have a new build up on Steam, 0.13.0.5.

Nothing too exciting. It just removes the DeltaDNA gameplay analytics stuff, now that Unity is shutting it down. E.g. how many players started a new game, how many died, how did they die, etc.

Some folks have previously asked if there was a way to opt-out, and Europe's GDPR would eventually require that anyway. And this patch means it's 100% gone, so no more need.

There's a slight chance it'll improve performance, as it means less logging and network traffic. But this is mostly about removing a dead library.

As always, let us know if it causes any improvements/problems for you!

Also, we have an experimental build 0.13.0.6 available on the public_test opt-in beta branch, if anyone wants to give that a try. It has some changes to the way AI pilots work to make them better, among other fixes.

Ostranauts Hotfix Patch (0.13.0.4) Is Live!

Hey Folks!

Ostranauts v0.13.0.4 is now available on Steam, and your clients should be updating shortly.

This is a hotfix update to our just released "Lucky Number 13" update, which fixes a bug that caused errors and missing ships (often OKLG) when using transit.

Saves from v0.13.0.0 and later should work. Note that if you were experiencing issues in the older save, this patch may fix some, but others may persist depending on the cause.

[h3]General Changes[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that could cause save data to become corrupted when an objective referred to an object on a map being unloaded from memory.


A few users were running into an issue where OKLG and their docked ship were no longer accessible after using transit.

It turns out this was due to objectives that pointed to non-people targets not being able to find that object when changing maps (e.g. when using transit). The game would hit an error there before the previous map finished saving, losing all that map data, and making it impossible to return to it.

This update is a quick band-aid to prevent that error from happening by safely abandoning the affected objective, until we can find a better fix that keeps the objective alive.

As always, there's plenty more for us to fix, change, and add! And we'll be continuing in roughly that order. In the meantime, let us know if this patch helps you out, as well as if it reveals new problems!
