Past Fate Developers Letter March 15th

Its now been two months since Past Fate launched into Early Access. Since then we have delivered weekly updates constantly for players just to improve the experience and to add a lot more to the game.

We appreciate every player who have given us feedback and submitted the bugs they have encountered because some of the bugs do get unnoticed from us and the feedback helps us to improve the game and to see what the players want to see in the game.

Now that we have today launched the patch 0.6.0.8 we are changing our focus for the major patch. This does not mean that we stop patching the game before dropping out the major patch, there is still bugs to be ironed out!

Patch 0.6.1 is scheduled to be out most likely before 20th of April.
What we want to include in this patch?

  • Completed skill system with proper rewards for reaching certain level on certain skills
  • Better character creation
  • Visually completed Westborough area
  • Storage system

and much more!

We also feel that currently the game is way too easy especially for those players who decide to explore or craft instead of just playing trough quests. We are finding a proper way to balance both playstyles so those who enjoy playing guided by quests wont feel that the game became too hard or those who decide to explore or craft wont feel that the game is too easy. We are still holding on our values where exploration and freedom is the key element of Past Fate.

These are what players are expected to see in the next month, we just wanted to share what we have in mind for the next month of Past Fate!

Patch 0.6.0.8

Patch 0.6.0.8 is now live!

Game Improvements and changes summary:

  • Changes to light and light color
  • Changes to fog effects
  • Optimized trees with LOD changes and cull distance
  • Trees leaf colors made brighter
  • Grass color changes
  • Player movement changes to stop transitioning. This is not yet final
  • Added smoke to the burning tower in Newharbor
  • Minor optimization and bug fixes
  • Changes to the overall color palette
  • Changes to Edaria and Saltstone Harbor treasure drop percentages
  • Changes to rare mob drop percentages in Saltstone Harbor and neighboring areas
  • Changes to some quests in preparation for better quest directioning
  • Minor statistic changes to some world drop items

  • Westborough made to look slightly better
