Here's a quirky little game with excellent sailing ships to explore and battle in

curious little indie launched last week, a game where you sail customizable ships across a vibrantly-colored fantasy archipelago in search of ancient secrets, battling monsters and pirates while exploring new islands. Players and developers call it something between the vibes of Wind Waker and the third-person sailing combat of games like Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, both much loved in their time...

Patch 3 (v.1.2.3)

Hi, here is the latest patch, which addresses a few more issues with progression in the Leader Recruitment portion of the game, in addition to some other fixes and improvements.

v1.2.3

Leader Recruitment
- Ensure all recruitment 'search for item' type quests reveal the location they are assigned to, to avoid confusing situations where one is put in a place you haven't found it
- Fixes to the final portion of the Croaker recruitment quest line, which should fix any issues people were having getting stuck in the Frogghammer battle
- Add Map Fragment pointing to the key story location in Pine Peaks, found by looting Barnacle ships

Final Boss
- Reduce the number of cycles required to complete, having seen some more comments about this has confirmed my own feelings about it
- Increase the hit-box size for the the boss's weak point
- Increased stun time for the final boss if it collides with an obstacle during its main attack
- Boss's main attack has a slower movement speed to give a fairer chance of avoiding it

General improvements
- Add gameplay option for "Camera Auto Center", if disabled the camera will no longer automatically recenter behind the player boat after a period of no camera input
- Add mist walls on the southern, east, and west boundaries of the world to prevent people getting lost in the infinite emptiness of the Deepblue
- More accurate placement of the mist walls, previously it had bad logic that could cause it to cut off portions of the play area that it shouldn't have, now it should not do this
- Allow more freedom of camera movement within the local area map view, in addition to default centering the map on the player
- this should make it easier to look around on the map to find nearby places
- If your boat somehow ends up with no crew, it will be populated with default crew on load (this shouldn't happen to begin with, but this is a fail-safe)
- Fix bug that caused duplication of Light Prisms when failing a Lighthouse encounter
- Fix missing string in Rumors tab for the first Deadrock location in Sandy Shores

As always, thank you everyone! The discussions here have been really productive and the game is improving! ːshootdangː

Patch 2 (1.2.2)

Hi everyone, here is another small-ish patch, mainly to address some issues people have been experiencing in late game with the leader recruitment quests.

v1.2.2

Chapter 4 (Frigid Sea) Guidance
- Added a map fragment that will reveal a key story location in Frigid Sea.
- If you've explored several locations in the Frigid Sea and have not yet found the key story location, speak to the Researcher who's uncovered some extra information for you.

Lightkeeper Leader Recruitment
- Fixed a (big) bug that could cause saving to be disabled while doing Lightkeeper Recruitment quests. If you experienced losing a lot of progress while doing the Lightkeeper quests, or any time after doing them, this should resolve your issues, though unfortunately that progress will not be automatically recovered.

If this happened to you, you can email your save file to me at david0evans(at)gmail(dot)com, and I should be able to manually fix your save so you don't have to redo everything.

This should also fix the issue for people who made it all the way to the final boss and seemed to get reset all the way back to an earlier step of Leader Recruitment.

Croaker Leader Recruitment
- Fixed a bug in generation of Tekno Wreckage locations where they could mistakenly be placed in invalid locations such as the old Teknogaunt Boss location.

All Recruitment Questlines
- Added a 'Save Fix' step after loading the game save which attempts to correct any saves that have been affected by the above bugs. If you're currently stuck in the Leader Recruitment part of the game due to your quest spawning in a bad location such as where the boss used to be, this should move those quests to a valid location automatically.

Once again, thank you everyone for playing and for continuing to be understanding of these frustrating issues! If you have more issues, feel free to post them in the Steam Community forum! I'll try to check comments here too but sometimes I forget.

First (small) Patch v1.2.1

Hi everyone, first of all just want to say massive thanks all around to everyone who has been playing and for all the positivity around the release despite some of the more frustrating issues! It's been really encouraging to see for me, hopefully I can fix the larger issues very soon!

I've just pushed an update to the game which attempts to do quick fixes to some of the most pressing things I've seen reported, which are AI collisions and being unsure where to go to progress.

v1.2.1

AI Collisions
At least for now, collision damage between ships in your fleet is disabled. I will be making improvements to their navigation in the near future, but this is the best thing I can do in the short term to mitigate the issue. Your own ship will still take collision damage if you crash into something, and your fleet will still deliver ramming damage to enemies, but they won't take damage when colliding with environment, you, or each other.

Quest Guidance
I've made several changes to help guide people to the main story in Chapters 1, 2 and 3.
- (Chapter 1) The map fragment in the first Skull Fort has had it's pickup radius increased to match the other loot from the chest, I believe people were missing it and thus not having the Lichlett location revealed for them, contributing to confusion early on.

- (Chapter 2) The researcher will now give you information about where the next Deadrock might be if you bring them some evidence! Bring a Kreb Shell from one of the crab enemies to them and the boss location will be revealed on the map

- (Chapter 3) Added a map fragment to reveal the final Chapter 3 location which should be found during normal play for new players. If you are currently stuck and have already done most of the stuff: Tekk Towers now contain the map fragment as loot, in addition to being dropped by some Tekk ships

- Both key story locations in Chapters 2 and 3 that have been hard to find have had their bounds size increased, which should make them substantially easier to reveal via manual exploration. If you've been sailing around unable to find them, give it another try!

Other changes
- Quests which spawn 'search locations' have been modified to avoid spawning them in invalid locations like old boss areas. Mainly relevant to the quests that take place after Chapter 5.
- Prevent adding the same boat twice to the available list at the shop
- Some perf improvements in snowy areas / rainy weather
- When turning in Ancient Junk to lightkeepers, the reveal screen waits for player input before continuing so you can read the description
- Add version number to options screen

This is a small patch but hopefully this starts to alleviate some of the difficulties with progression! Thank you everyone and Happy Holidays!

Big open ocean adventure Sail Forth is out now

Sail Forth looks like a wonderful ocean adventure on the more chilled side of things (in a way), and if it's anything like the earlier versions I tried a while back, it would be an easy recommendation.
