Roger's Route DLC Devlog (08/18/24)

Hey, guys, long time no speaky! I've got some major Roger route news!
Lay it on us, phone-papa:

I've been REAL hard at work this last month! I'm actually at the final stages of development now, doing tiny bits of pick-up assetwork (namely for stuff like props in Gingi's hands + transition screens), audio work and of course: programming the physical route! In the last 2 weeks, I've completed about 25% of the total route programming (or 50% of Roger's evil route!)

This mightn't sound like much, but keep in mind, the total wordcount of the route is 94-96k words, and I even added 2 new scenes to the route (both of which have had scripts + assets completed and are being programmed on this very day!) It's been a busy, busy last few weeks!

As a treat, here's some footage showing off some voice acting + Peter's theme!

Originally, I was gonna push to get the route out at the end of the month, but given that a few of my collaborators ended up with having more on their plates IRL than planned, I think it'd be safer to aim for late September to early October! (So, during the Mingus campaign, which'll be featured in my NEXT devlog!) Based on total progress over the last few weeks, I'm actually completely on track to hit that target!

Here's total progress on the route progress chart (amber represents script finished + assets basically ready to be dropped in the editor, green = playable!) Some friends are also helping me test the evil route while I work on the good route, so that should help expedite release! This represents roughly 1/3 total completion, which isn't bad since most of this progress was made over the last few weeks!

The route also contains a lot of smaller things based on positive/negative feedback from the base game, including many skip points in scenes (to help the player control pace), more art, more voice acting, even a lil animation! There's MANY cameos and references in it, both involving stuff from the basegame and even from my older work! Obviously this is the largest route Dialtown has, in its wordcount, the number of unique tracks, the number of endings and more and I'm doing my best to make it the best it can be before it releases. I wanna thank you guys again for your patience. Rest assured - no rest shall be assured for me until this is out! Thanks, everyone!
