Pink Magic Cards: Damage - Part 1

Thank you to everyone that played Dandy Ace during the Creators’ Preview Event! We really enjoyed watching streamers and their communities experiment with Twitch Mode. The team appreciates all of the positive comments and feedback we’ve received as well. We will have more news on our upcoming launch soon so make sure to add Dandy Ace to your Steam Wishlist if you haven’t already, it helps us out a lot!

This week we’re diving into the next kind of Magic Card you’ll have at your disposal as you make your way through Lele’s Palace, Pink Magic Cards. As mentioned in our Introduction to Magic Cards, Dandy Ace’s core mechanic revolves around the Magical Cards which act as skills in the game. Players are able to create countless combinations of skills, upgrades, and play styles by combining the different cards they come across on each run. Pink Magic Cards are more damage oriented and are split into Melee and Ranged skills.
Five of a Kind
Five of a Kind is a ranged Pink Magic Card and is the first card Ace will come across. On activation, Ace throws five magical cards in a cone in front of him. Each individual card will deal damage if it collides with an enemy. This skill is charge based which allows Ace to be able to use this skill multiple times in a row. Five of a Kind recharges one charge at a time so Ace may want to think about utilizing some of his other skills while waiting for more charges to maximize burst potential.

When utilized as an upgrade, Five of a Kind adds Wild Cards. After successfully hitting an enemy with the upgraded skill, 5 cards will spawn and damage other nearby enemies. There is no cooldown on this upgrade effect.
Bubble Trouble
A ranged Pink Magic Card, Bubble Trouble provides Ace with great damage and explosive potential. On activation Ace will shoot a big bubble out that will travel in a straight line until its max range or it collides with an enemy. Upon collision the bubble will burst dealing damage and spawning Bubble Cluster. After a short delay, Bubble Cluster will deal additional AOE damage at the collision location. This skill can be held longer to increase the bubble's travel speed.

Upgrading a card with Bubble Trouble will give it Bubble Cluster. On enemy hit, Bubble Cluster spawns dealing AOE damage to any enemies within it.
Titan Punch
Titan Punch is a melee based Pink Magic Card that rewards utilizing it multiple times in a combo. On activation Ace will deal damage directly in front of him with a giant fist. The second punch will stun enemies for a short period of time. The third punch in the combo will also briefly stun while dealing additional damage. Hitting an enemy with Titan Punch will give them the Vulnerability condition.

Utilizing Titan Punch as an upgrade to another card will add Vulnerability to that skill on enemy hit. Vulnerability causes affected enemies to take additional damage from all sources for a short period of time.
Call Lightning
Call Lightning is a ranged AOE Pink Magic Card. When used Ace will cast two lightning bolts that strike an area one right after another in a large radius. All enemies caught within the area will take damage with each hit. Holding the skill longer will increase the size of the radius.

Call Lightning's upgrade effect is Minor Lightning. On successful enemy hit, Minor Lightning will cause lightning to strike the enemy for additional damage after a short delay.
Crescendo Fireworks
Crescendo Fireworks is a ranged Pink Magic Card utilizing both hold and damage over time. The longer Ace holds down Crescendo Fireworks prior to firing, the larger the explosion gets. On release, Ace shoots out a firework that explodes on contact or once it reaches its max range. The explosion deals damage and applies the Burn condition to enemies hit. Any enemy with Burn will take damage over a short period of time.

Upgrading a card with Crescendo Fireworks adds Burn to the card. On hit, enemies will take burn damage over time.
Twin Daggers
Twin Daggers are a range based Pink Magic Card. When activated Ace sends out two giant daggers that travel side by side in a straight line dealing damage and applying a Bleed condition to all enemies in its path. One of the greatest strengths of this card is its ability to pierce through multiple enemies. Enemies hit will take an initial burst of damage followed by additional damage over a short period of time from the Bleed.

Upgrading a card with Twin Daggers adds theBleed condition to it. On hit, enemies will begin to take Bleed damage over a short period of time.
Dancing Wand
Dancing Wand is a very powerful Pink Magic Card that is great with dealing with large groups of enemies. On activation, Ace throws out a magical wand that bounces between enemies dealing damage on each bounce. This skill has a short cooldown and can be thrown quickly.

When Dancing Wand is used as an upgrade it adds Chain Damage to the card. Chain Damage causes the skill to deal additional damage to nearby enemies on hit.
Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars is a ranged Pink Magic Card. Shooting Stars allows Ace to fire off several stars quickly one right after the other, traveling in a straight line until it collides with an enemy or reaches its max range. Every third shooting star Ace fires will explode on contact or at its max range dealing damage to all enemies nearby.

Shooting Stars has an upgrade effect that is used to increase the potential burst damage of another spell. Any card upgraded with Shooting Stars gains Empower Magic which increases the overall damage of the skill on hit. This upgrade effect has a cooldown so the increased damage will only apply when after the internal cooldown.
Sim Sala Beam
Sim Sala Beam is a ranged Pink Magic Card. On activation, Ace will channel his magic into a powerful beam. The longer you hold the skill down prior to releasing the larger the beam gets. Any enemies caught in the beam take a significant amount of damage and also have a Burn condition applied to them. Burn causes enemies to take additional damage over a short period of time.

The upgrade effect for Sim Sala Beam is Death Burn. Any skill upgraded with Sim Sala Beam will add the Death Burn condition to enemies on hit which will spread Burn to other nearby enemies when they are defeated.
Hungry Chomper
The final Pink Magic Card we’ll be going over this week is Hungry Chomper. This is a ranged Pink Magic Card. On use Ace sends out a Chomper that will travel in a straight line dealing damage to any enemies in its path. This skill pierces through enemies and for each enemy it pierces it grows in size and damage.

Upgrading a card with Hungry Chomper adds Size Increase. This increases the size of the upgraded skill.

We’ll cover the rest of the Pink Magic Cards in Part 2 later this month. In the meantime be sure to add Dandy Ace to your Wishlist and follow all of our social media channels. While the extended demo from the Creators’ Preview Event is no longer available, the original free demo can still be downloaded and played on the Steam Store Page. Thank you all once again for the support as we approach launch!

Welcome to the Central Hall: Royal Rabbit, Broom Maid, & More!
CENTRAL HALL
The Central Hall is the next map in our map and enemy spotlight series. As the name might suggest, the Central Hall is located at the center of Lele’s Palace and can be entered through the Banquet Hall or Courtyard if you have the necessary gate keys to unlock the paths. This map is home to a variety of new challenging enemies for Ace to take on including the Broom Maid, Candlestick Bombardier, Royal Rabbit, Twilight Phantom, and Multi-Shot Turret. Ace will also need to be careful navigating the Central Hall as it features Protective Totems and a different kind of environmental hazard, the Furnace.

While making your way through the Central Hall you’ll be able to find two possible exits, one to Axolangelo’s Atelier and the other to Scissorella’s Garden. This allows you to decide which boss you want to face depending on the cards you have, better adapting your decision to each of their playstyles.
FURNACE
The Central Hall’s environmental hazard will surely heat things up in the midst of combat. The Furnace requires Ace to step on the pressure plates found on the ground in the Central Hall to activate them. These plates can’t be activated by enemies. After a short delay, flames will erupt out of every vent in the hall damaging anything standing on top of them. The pressure plates will reset after a short period and can be activated by Ace again.
CANDLESTICK BOMBARDIER
The Candlestick Bombardier is an upgraded version of the Candlestick Bomber found in earlier maps. Similar to the Bomber’s Blast offensive skill, the Candlestick Bombardier can cast Cluster Blast underneath Ace’s location from range. After a short delay the area will explode dealing damage to Ace if he remains within it. Following the initial explosion, 4 smaller Blasts will occur surrounding it in a cluster. Attempting to get close to the Candlestick Bombardier will cause it to Teleport a good distance away from Ace before resuming its attacks.
ROYAL RABBIT
An upgraded version of the Bunny Butler, the Royal Rabbit relies on a lance as its weapon of choice instead of a giant fork. This enemy is much tougher than the Bunny Butler that Ace encounters in the Entrance Hall so don’t underestimate it! If Ace remains at range the Royal Rabbit will attempt to get in close enough to Charge in Ace’s direction, damaging him on collision. The Royal Rabbit also has a melee attack at its disposal with Thrust should Ace get too close.
BROOM MAID
The Broom Maid works hard to keep the Central Hall clean and doesn’t take kindly to guests making a mess. Flame Sweep is a mid-ranged two part attack that activates once the Broom Maid is within range of Ace. The Broom Maid will swing her broom in the direction of Ace leaving a trail of flames. This attack is performed twice in a row. The flames will disappear after a few seconds.
TWILIGHT PHANTOM
The Twilight Phantom is the upgraded version of the Midnight Phantom. Armed with both a ranged and melee offensive skill, the Twilight Phantom will always be a threat. Boomerang fires a projectile ring that returns to the Twilight Phantom once reaching its max range. Any enemies that it collides with will take damage. Getting too close will cause the Twilight Phantom to activate Combo Slash, swinging at Ace 3 times and moving in his direction quickly.
Multi-Shot Turret
The Central Hall has a different type of turret than those found in previous maps. The
Multi-Shot Turret has 3 projectiles floating above it. Acting as the shotgun of turrets, the Multi-Shot Turret fires Spread Shot towards Ace when within range. Spread Shot sends out 3 projectiles in a cone simultaneously, each dealing its own damage on successful hit. Ace will need to quickly maneuver between the multiple projectiles while fighting off enemies.

The Central Hall is currently available in the free demo during our Creators’ Preview Event until February 1st. Head on over to the Dandy Ace Steam Page to wishlist and play! Blue Magic Cards: Mobility - Part 2

Hey Magicians!

The Creators’ Preview Event has been a blast so far and we appreciate everyone that has played and wishlisted Dandy Ace. We’ve received a lot of feedback from players and streamers, especially for Twitch Mode, and have started making changes to improve the overall experience. The Patch Notes for our latest Twitch Mode update that went live earlier today can be found HERE.

This week we’ll be covering the rest of the mobility based Blue Magic Cards found within Dandy Ace. If you'd like to check out Part 1 of the Blue Magic Cards you can find it HERE. As mentioned previously in our Introduction to Magic Cards, Dandy Ace’s core mechanic revolves around the Magical Cards which act as skills in the game. Players are able to create countless combinations of skills, upgrades, and play styles by combining the different cards they come across on each run. Blue Magic Cards fall into two categories: Blinks & Dashes. Dashes allow Ace to travel forward and pass through enemies but do not offer any invulnerability frames during the dash. Blinks on the other hand allow Ace to teleport forward a short distance, avoiding any enemy attacks that may be between the start and end points.
Time Warp
Time Warp is one of Ace's most basic blink cards. Time Warp allows Ace to quickly blink forward and cause an AOE explosion. Ace deals damage to any enemies around him at his blink end-location.

Upgrading a card with Time Warp adds Dimensional Burst to the card which will cause Ace to deal damage to all enemies in a short range AOE around him when the upgraded skill is activated.
Toxic Retreat
Toxic Retreat is a blink based Blue Card. On activation Ace will blink forward and simultaneously apply a Toxic debuff to any enemies near him at his initial location. Toxic causes the affected enemy to form a toxic field around them that deals damage to the enemy over a short period of time as well as others around them. As the card's name suggests, this skill is best utilized when blinking out of groups of enemies or to retreat as you have to be near the enemies to apply the Toxic debuff. If utilized as an upgrade, Toxic Retreat will add the Toxic debuff to any card, applying to enemies on hit.
Escape Artist
Escape Artist is a blink based Blue Magic Card. On use, Ace blinks forward leaving behind a Noxious Cloud. Any enemies affected by or entering the cloud will take damage for as long as they remain within it. Upgrading a card with Escape Artist adds Noxious Cloud to that card, creating a cloud when the upgraded card is used.
Phantom Rebound
Ace's ghost may be as stylish as him, but beware of its curse! Phantom Rebound is a dash based Blue Card. With the Phantom Rebound card Ace dashes forward, leaving a phantom of himself behind. After a short period the phantom returns to him, creating a big explosion and cursing enemies within range. The Curse debuff makes enemies take damage the next time they attack. When used as an upgrade, Phantom Rebound will add Curse to any card causing enemies to take damage on their next attack.
Shards Rush
Shards Rush is a dash based Blue Card. When activated, Ace dashes forward quickly launching shards in the direction of the dash over a short distance. The shards deal damage to any enemies hit by them.

The upgrade effects on Shard Rush are fairly unique and will vary depending on the type of card it is combined with. When combined with Pink Magic Cards the cards gain Energy Flux which provides a damage boost to the skill for each skill Ace has on cooldown. When combined with Yellow Magic Cards and Blue Magic Cards the cards gain Extra Charge allowing the skill to be used an additional time.

That covers the Blue Magic Cards Ace will have at his disposal as he makes his way through the Cursed Mirror. We’ll be covering the Pink and Yellow Magic Cards over the next few weeks as we approach the launch of Dandy Ace in early 2021. Be sure to add Dandy Ace to your Steam Wishlist and follow us on all social media to stay up to date as we post new announcements.

The Creators’ Preview Event featuring our latest demo with Twitch Mode and additional content will remain available for all to download until January 25th! Don’t miss out and be sure to leave any feedback you may have on our Mad Mimic Community Discord where you can chat with members of the development team as well as other community members.
