Yellow Magic Cards - Part 1

Greetings Magicians,

Today we’ll be starting to cover the final Magic Card type you’ll encounter in Dandy Ace, Yellow Magic Cards. You can read more about how Magic Cards are utilized as skills in our Introduction to Magic Cards. Unlike the mobility focused Blue Magic Cards and the damage oriented Pink Magic Cards, Yellow Magic Cards offer up more utility based skill options to Ace. Yellow Magic Cards have the widest variety of mechanics associated with them and can range from giant barriers & personal shields to slow fields and stuns.
Dazzling Display
Dazzling Display is a short to mid-ranged Yellow Magic Card. When activated Ace will cast a bright cone of dazzling light in the direction he is facing. Any enemies caught within the light will be stunned for a short period of time.

The upgrade effect for Dazzling Display varies depending on the color of the card it upgrades. For Yellow and Blue Magic Cards, Dazzling Display adds Stun when damaging an enemy to the upgraded skill. When upgrading a Pink Magic Card, it will add Prey Seeker instead. Prey Seeker causes stunned enemies to take more damage from the affected skill.
Magical Barrier
Magical Barrier is a shield based Yellow Magic Card. Ace creates a big moving barrier that destroys enemy projectiles on contact thanks to the Bullet Ward effect. Enemies in its path will be pushed back and also have the Weakness condition applied. Weakness causes enemies to deal 30% less damage to Ace for a short period of time.

The upgrade effect for Magical Barrier is Death Weakness. The upgraded skill applies Death Weakness to enemies on hit. Affected enemies will spread Weakness to other nearby enemies on death.
Time Dissonance
Time Dissonance is an AOE based Yellow Magic Card. On activation Ace will create a magical Slow Field that damages and slows enemies in it. The Slow Field also has the added benefit of slowing enemy projectiles that pass through it. Upgrading a card with Time Dissonance will add Slow to Yellow and Blue Magic Cards while Pink cards get Relentless Pursuit. Any enemies hit by the upgraded Pink Magic Card will take additional damage if they are affected by Slow thanks to Relentless Pursuit.
Aegis Cloak
Aegis Cloak is a very powerful shield based Yellow Card. On activation Ace creates a shield around himself and the next hit that would damage Ace will be absorbed. The shield explodes when destroyed, dealing damage to nearby enemies. As an upgrade, Aegis Cloak adds Invulnerability making Ace immune to all damage for a short period of time when the upgraded skill is activated. This effect has an internal cooldown.
Packet Trick
Packet Trick is a ranged AOE Yellow Magic Card that is often used as a trap. Ace drops a group of explosive cards on the ground. The cards explode and deal damage to enemies on contact. This skill combos well when combined with crowd control based cards such as those that add Stun or the Charm condition. The upgrade effect of Packet Trick is Death Bomb. Enemies damaged by the upgraded skill will explode and deal damage to all nearby enemies.
Passion Comet
Passion Comet is a ranged Yellow Magic Card. On activation Ace shoots a comet that explodes once it reaches its max range or collides with an enemy. Any enemies caught in the blast will take damage and also gain the Charm condition. While affected by Charm, enemies will slowly move towards Ace and can't attack for a short period of time. Upgrading any card with Passion Comet adds Death Charm. Any enemies hit by the upgraded skill will spread Charm to nearby enemies on death.
Starburst
Starburst is an AOE based Yellow Magic Card. On activation, Ace will release a burst of magic and push back all enemies around him while also dealing damage to any enemies hit. The upgrade effect of Starburst adds Push. The upgraded skill will push enemies back enemies on successful hit.

You can experiment with some of these and other Magic Cards in our free demo available on the Store Page prior to Dandy Ace Steam Launch on March 25th! We’ll be covering the rest of the Yellow Magic Cards in one of our next blog posts so be sure to add Dandy Ace to your Wishlist and follow us on all of our social media to stay up to date on all announcements and news.

Welcome to the Guest Lounge: Bunny Bomber, Lady Hook, & the Torch Maids

Just beyond Axolangelo’s Atelier lies Lele’s exclusive Guest Lounge where Ace will encounter Candlestick Bombardiers along with Bunny Bombers, Lady Hook, and the Torch Maids. You’ll get your first chance to enter the Guest Lounge after successfully reaching and defeating Dandy Ace’s first boss, Axolangelo. This decorated lounge for all of Lele’s Palace Guests features beautiful vases, potted plants, Homing Turrets, and a Goo Bomb that can really slow things down.
Goo Bomb
The Goo Bomb will cause problems for Ace if he isn’t quick on his feet but can also serve as another tool in his bag of tricks if utilized correctly. Upon walking over the Goo Bomb it will activate and explode after a short delay. If Ace or any enemies are caught within the radius they will take damage and have the Slow condition applied reducing the affected target’s movement speed for a short period of time.
Bunny Bomber
The Bunny Bomber does not take kindly to uninvited guests and carries around a large bomb to chase down any intruders. Once spotted, the Bunny Bomber will begin a Slow Chase towards Ace heading directly at him. After a few seconds or once within range this will turn into a Fast Chase allowing the Bunny Bomber to get close to Ace and activate Stolen Bomb-Head. The large bomb is immediately dropped causing it to explode and deal damage to Ace. This chaotic bunny will have to retreat to safety and find another bomb before returning to attack again.
Lady Hook
Lele’s guests may have dressed up but they aren’t afraid to get in a fight. Lady Hook and her trusty Golden Hook will put an end to Ace’s shenanigans if he gets too close. This melee attack deals a lot of damage directly in front of Lady Hook. Hiding behind the potted plants and decor won’t save you for long. If Ace remains at range for an extended period of time Lady Hook will need to utilize her hook pull to damage and bring Ace in closer.
Torch Maid
Torch Maids do a great job of keeping the Guest Lounge clean and tidy. This upgraded version of the Broom Maid utilizes a spear and poses a much bigger threat to Ace. Blink n’ Spear allows the Torch Maid to surprise Ace by blinking behind him and following up with a single spear attack. If within melee range the Torch Maid will perform a 3-part Mega Combo thrusting the spear in Ace’s direction twice before surrounding herself with blue flames and damaging anything within its radius.

Fight your way through the Guest Lounge when Dandy Ace launches on Steam on March 25th. Players can also try out the free demo available on our Steam Store Page until then if they’d like to try their hand at reaching Axolangelo’s Atelier. Pink Magic Cards: Damage - Part 2

Greetings Magicians,

Today we’ll be going over the rest of the Pink Magic Cards available to players in Dandy Ace! Pink Magic Cards are more damage oriented and are split into two primary categories of Melee & Ranged skills. You can read up on all of the pink cards previously covered in last week’s blog post HERE. To those new to Dandy Ace, Magic Cards act as the skills players collect and use as they take on the different enemies and bosses encountered within the Cursed Mirror. Players are able to create countless combinations of skills and play styles by combining the different cards they come across on each run. You can read more about the role the cards play in our Introduction to Magic Cards.
Sugar Dandy
Sugar Dandy is a long ranged Pink Magic Card. On use Ace will shoot a powerful arrow that gets stronger the longer Ace holds it down prior to firing. The arrow travels in a straight line, dealing damage to and piercing enemies until it reaches its max range. Any enemies hit will also gain the Charm condition. Charm causes enemies to walk slowly towards Ace for a short period of time while also being locked out of attacking.

The upgrade effect of Sugar Dandy varies depending on the type of card it is combined with. When used to upgrade Yellow and Blue Magic Cards, the skills will apply Charm to enemies on hit. If used to upgrade a Pink Magic Card, the card gains Broken Hearts. Any enemies affected by Charm will take increased damage from the skill.
Dio, The Bat
Dio, The Bat is an infamous vampire bat. This Pink Magic Card is a ranged skill allowing Ace to send Dio, The Bat out at enemies and apply a Bleed condition on hit. Dio, The Bat will travel in a straight line very quickly and return right back to Ace on skill reactivation. Enemies can be hit both ways and the Bleed condition will also apply on each hit. Bleed will cause enemies to take damage over a short period of time.

As an upgrade Dio, The Bat continues to bleed enemy health down. Upgrading a card with Dio, The Bat will add Death Bleed to the skill on hit. When an affected enemy dies, they will spread Bleed to all nearby enemies causing them to take damage over a short period of time.
Toxic Spray
Toxic Spray is a mid-ranged Pink Magic Card capable of hitting multiple enemies. On activation Ace creates a poisonous cloud dealing damage to enemies within it and also applying a Poison condition to them. Poison causes enemies to take damage over a short period of time and stacks with other similar conditions. The upgrade effect adds Poison on enemy hit to whichever card Toxic Spray is combined with.
Blossom Blast
Blossom Blast is a powerful AOE based Pink Magic Card that can be cast at range. Ace casts the skill on an area, exploding after a brief delay. Any enemies caught within the radius will take significant damage. Blossom Blast will add Blooming Burst to a skill if used as an upgrade. Blooming Burst deals additional explosive burst damage after a short delay after hitting an enemy.
Crushing Hand
Crushing Hand is a melee Pink Magic Card with a powerful upgrade effect. On activation Ace will drop a giant fist down directly in front of him, crushing and damaging anything beneath it. Crushing Hand also benefits from an added bonus called Calculated Risks. While Ace is under 50% HP, Calculated Risks will cause Crushing Hand to deal more damage.

Upgrading a card with Crushing Hand adds Life Siphon. When damaging an enemy with the upgraded skill Ace will receive some health back. This effect does have an internal cooldown so Ace won't be able to constantly heal but can come in handy when you find yourself out of tea and cupcakes!
Trump Card
Trump Card is a ranged explosive Pink Magic Card. On use Ace will throw a magical card that travels in a straight line. When the skill is activated again the card will explode dealing damage to all enemies near it. When used as an upgrade Trump Card adds Illusion of Life to the upgraded skill. Illusion of Life causes enemies with more than 50% remaining HP to take additional damage from the skill.
Poison Roses
Poison Roses is a ranged Pink Magic Card. On use Ace will throw out 3 poisonous roses at once. Each rose can deal damage and apply the Poison condition to enemies on hit. If played at the appropriate range, the roses can intersect and deal the full damage of all 3. This skill is charge based so Ace will be able to use the skill multiple times before having to wait for each charge to individually come back off cooldown.

Poison Roses adds Death Poison to any card it upgrades. When an enemy affected by Death Poison is killed, they will spread Poison to all nearby enemies. Poison causes enemies to take damage over a short period of time.
Flurry of Blows
Flurry of Blows is a melee based Pink Magic Card. When used Ace will strike in front of him with a flurry of blows. Ace is unable to move for a short period while the skill is active. All enemies caught within the attack will take damage. Flurry of Blows adds Accumulated Pain to any card it upgrades. With Accumulated Pain the upgraded skill will deal additional damage to any enemies affected by Bleeding, Burning, or Poison conditions.
Spark Tornado
Spark Tornado is a close ranged AOE Pink Magic Card. On activation Ace conjures a tornado around him. For each enemy hit by the tornado, Spark Tornado will deal additional damage thanks to its added bonus Rampage Surge. When upgrading a card with Spark Tornado, the skill will earn Fast Cast. Fast Cast allows the upgraded skill to be cast faster than normal.
Hack N’ Slash
Hack N' Slash is a melee based Pink Magic Card. On activation Ace will quickly strike in front of him dealing damage to all enemies caught in the slash. This skill has a short range but a very short cooldown of .1 seconds allowing it to be used over and over.

Hack N’ Slash works very well when upgraded with cards that can utilize its fast attacks or increase its potential range, such as with the size increase provided by Hungry Chomper.
As an upgrade, Hack N' Slash adds Perfect Execution to a card. Perfect Execution causes enemies below 50% HP to take extra damage from that skill.

If you’d like to try out some of these cards yourself, the free demo can be downloaded and played on the Dandy Ace Steam Store Page.

Pink Magic Cards: Damage - Part 1

Thank you to everyone that played Dandy Ace during the Creators’ Preview Event! We really enjoyed watching streamers and their communities experiment with Twitch Mode. The team appreciates all of the positive comments and feedback we’ve received as well. We will have more news on our upcoming launch soon so make sure to add Dandy Ace to your Steam Wishlist if you haven’t already, it helps us out a lot!

This week we’re diving into the next kind of Magic Card you’ll have at your disposal as you make your way through Lele’s Palace, Pink Magic Cards. As mentioned in our Introduction to Magic Cards, Dandy Ace’s core mechanic revolves around the Magical Cards which act as skills in the game. Players are able to create countless combinations of skills, upgrades, and play styles by combining the different cards they come across on each run. Pink Magic Cards are more damage oriented and are split into Melee and Ranged skills.
Five of a Kind
Five of a Kind is a ranged Pink Magic Card and is the first card Ace will come across. On activation, Ace throws five magical cards in a cone in front of him. Each individual card will deal damage if it collides with an enemy. This skill is charge based which allows Ace to be able to use this skill multiple times in a row. Five of a Kind recharges one charge at a time so Ace may want to think about utilizing some of his other skills while waiting for more charges to maximize burst potential.

When utilized as an upgrade, Five of a Kind adds Wild Cards. After successfully hitting an enemy with the upgraded skill, 5 cards will spawn and damage other nearby enemies. There is no cooldown on this upgrade effect.
Bubble Trouble
A ranged Pink Magic Card, Bubble Trouble provides Ace with great damage and explosive potential. On activation Ace will shoot a big bubble out that will travel in a straight line until its max range or it collides with an enemy. Upon collision the bubble will burst dealing damage and spawning Bubble Cluster. After a short delay, Bubble Cluster will deal additional AOE damage at the collision location. This skill can be held longer to increase the bubble's travel speed.

Upgrading a card with Bubble Trouble will give it Bubble Cluster. On enemy hit, Bubble Cluster spawns dealing AOE damage to any enemies within it.
Titan Punch
Titan Punch is a melee based Pink Magic Card that rewards utilizing it multiple times in a combo. On activation Ace will deal damage directly in front of him with a giant fist. The second punch will stun enemies for a short period of time. The third punch in the combo will also briefly stun while dealing additional damage. Hitting an enemy with Titan Punch will give them the Vulnerability condition.

Utilizing Titan Punch as an upgrade to another card will add Vulnerability to that skill on enemy hit. Vulnerability causes affected enemies to take additional damage from all sources for a short period of time.
Call Lightning
Call Lightning is a ranged AOE Pink Magic Card. When used Ace will cast two lightning bolts that strike an area one right after another in a large radius. All enemies caught within the area will take damage with each hit. Holding the skill longer will increase the size of the radius.

Call Lightning's upgrade effect is Minor Lightning. On successful enemy hit, Minor Lightning will cause lightning to strike the enemy for additional damage after a short delay.
Crescendo Fireworks
Crescendo Fireworks is a ranged Pink Magic Card utilizing both hold and damage over time. The longer Ace holds down Crescendo Fireworks prior to firing, the larger the explosion gets. On release, Ace shoots out a firework that explodes on contact or once it reaches its max range. The explosion deals damage and applies the Burn condition to enemies hit. Any enemy with Burn will take damage over a short period of time.

Upgrading a card with Crescendo Fireworks adds Burn to the card. On hit, enemies will take burn damage over time.
Twin Daggers
Twin Daggers are a range based Pink Magic Card. When activated Ace sends out two giant daggers that travel side by side in a straight line dealing damage and applying a Bleed condition to all enemies in its path. One of the greatest strengths of this card is its ability to pierce through multiple enemies. Enemies hit will take an initial burst of damage followed by additional damage over a short period of time from the Bleed.

Upgrading a card with Twin Daggers adds theBleed condition to it. On hit, enemies will begin to take Bleed damage over a short period of time.
Dancing Wand
Dancing Wand is a very powerful Pink Magic Card that is great with dealing with large groups of enemies. On activation, Ace throws out a magical wand that bounces between enemies dealing damage on each bounce. This skill has a short cooldown and can be thrown quickly.

When Dancing Wand is used as an upgrade it adds Chain Damage to the card. Chain Damage causes the skill to deal additional damage to nearby enemies on hit.
Shooting Stars
Shooting Stars is a ranged Pink Magic Card. Shooting Stars allows Ace to fire off several stars quickly one right after the other, traveling in a straight line until it collides with an enemy or reaches its max range. Every third shooting star Ace fires will explode on contact or at its max range dealing damage to all enemies nearby.

Shooting Stars has an upgrade effect that is used to increase the potential burst damage of another spell. Any card upgraded with Shooting Stars gains Empower Magic which increases the overall damage of the skill on hit. This upgrade effect has a cooldown so the increased damage will only apply when after the internal cooldown.
Sim Sala Beam
Sim Sala Beam is a ranged Pink Magic Card. On activation, Ace will channel his magic into a powerful beam. The longer you hold the skill down prior to releasing the larger the beam gets. Any enemies caught in the beam take a significant amount of damage and also have a Burn condition applied to them. Burn causes enemies to take additional damage over a short period of time.

The upgrade effect for Sim Sala Beam is Death Burn. Any skill upgraded with Sim Sala Beam will add the Death Burn condition to enemies on hit which will spread Burn to other nearby enemies when they are defeated.
Hungry Chomper
The final Pink Magic Card we’ll be going over this week is Hungry Chomper. This is a ranged Pink Magic Card. On use Ace sends out a Chomper that will travel in a straight line dealing damage to any enemies in its path. This skill pierces through enemies and for each enemy it pierces it grows in size and damage.

Upgrading a card with Hungry Chomper adds Size Increase. This increases the size of the upgraded skill.

We’ll cover the rest of the Pink Magic Cards in Part 2 later this month. In the meantime be sure to add Dandy Ace to your Wishlist and follow all of our social media channels. While the extended demo from the Creators’ Preview Event is no longer available, the original free demo can still be downloaded and played on the Steam Store Page. Thank you all once again for the support as we approach launch!
