Card Art Showcase: Highlords Warcry

Dear Denizens of Issilith!

For Drakkoriths, to be a part of the military is not just a requirement but an honour. And thanks to their military discipline and vigour, things can work out unexpectedly in their favour.

Drakkorith military is one of the most organised in all of Issilith. Following the chain of command is a must, and fellow soldiers have the utmost respect for their superiors, following their every lead, because they know that to advance in the military hierarchy one must earn every promotion. Nothing is given, and everything has to be earned. However, even such an organised military can sometimes be on the losing end. It's then that the highlords of the military will turn to more...primal means. Often they will let out a warcry that will shake their comrades to their cores. It will reinvigorate them and send them into a mighty charge. After all, the battle is embedded deep in Drakkorith's blood.

Highlords Warcry is a Drakkorith ability card that costs 3 energy. Once you play it, all friendly units will gain juggernaut, allowing them to deal excess damage to the enemy Core when they’re attacking. If you have some heavy hitters in your Drakkorith deck, try to include Highlords Warcry as well since it will not let any damage point go to waste.

Card Art Showcase: Laruth

Dear Denizens of Issilith!

Drakkorith history is filled with many battles fought with valour and relentlessness. So in order to become a legend, one must do something either really heroic or revolutionary.

Though a very battle-ready nation, not every confrontation the Drakkorith were a part of went in their favour. During one of the many nameless battles the Drakkoriths fought, the vehicle that carried a cannon was destroyed, rendering the cannon practically useless. The clock was ticking. It was only a matter of time before the Drakkorith would lose this fight. But it was then that Laruth picked up the cannon and used it himself, turning the tides of the battle, and creating a legend told even today. This encouraged the creation of a new military order, special forces trained to carry and use cannons without the need for mechanical carriers, the Phaerox order. Thanks to his accomplishments, Laruth became the leader of the Phaerox order. Their main mission? To soften up enemy forces before the main strike force is sent. Maybe that’s where that famous Drakkorith saying comes from, “When Laruth's weapon speaks, even prayers fall silent”.

Laruth is a legendary Drakkorith unit that costs 7 essence and has its stats set at 3 power and 7 health. It also has repel, meaning it can’t be targeted by the ability cards. But what makes this card really special is its effect. After your Avatar attacks, Laruth will deal damage equal to his power to the enemy Core! Combine Laruth with cards like Agni Ronin that will enable your Avatar to attack multiple times during the turn, or buff Laruth’s own power with Taris Veteran and other similar cards to inflict as much direct damage to your opponent’s Core as you can.

Card Art Showcase: Centurion Charger

Dear Denizens of Issilith!

PHAGEBORN has many interesting units with different combinations, both by themselves and in synergies with other cards. Those combinations will allow you to take down creatures from your nightmares and get the most out of every situation.

Ascended are known as restless warriors of vengeance, fighting for what they believe is right. However, not all Ascended take the same route in achieving their goals. Some prefer the more offensive route, such as those following the teaching of Tey, while others focus on defending their comrades and providing support for them. Even so, among those that take the more defensive route are the ones that prefer a more…aggressive approach. After all, sometimes offence is the best defence. At least that is the point of view of Centurion Chargers. These bulky Duran soldiers are known for their sudden charges, flanking their opponents, and catching them off guard. And thanks to their durable armour, they don’t need to think twice about rushing amidst their enemies.

Centurion Charger is a 4-cost Ascended unit whose stats are set at 2/4. While it may not seem like the appropriate amount of damage for a 4-cost card, this unit gains quickstrike until the end of its turn whenever it changes zones. And, if you consider that this unit has swift as well, a whole new world of opportunities will open. Swift will allow Centurion to attack after it changes zones, gaining quickstrike in the process and allowing Centurion to deal damage before the retaliation damage applies, meaning if the Centurion kills the enemy unit while having quickstrike, it will not take any damage. All this makes the Centurion Charger a great unit to gain board advantage during early turns or for finishing powerful units with a sliver of health.

Card Art Showcase: Starving Grottogar

Dear Denizens of Issilith!

In the middle of the Pyrelian Wasteland lies the Great Grotto. This vast network of caves and canyons hides many dangerous monsters in its abyss.

All over Issilith stories about terrifying creatures stalking the Grotto Depths are often used to scare little children and learn them about the dangers that can lurk beneath the surface. But many forget that the Grotto Shallows used to be just as terrifying. Some of the creatures that used to stalk the Grotto Shallows are Starving Grottogars. Surprisingly fast and nimble considering their size and with quite of an appetite, these monsters will haunt the dreams of any living soul that crossed paths with them and, by the grace of some higher gods, lived. They have a very slow digestion system, so any creature they devour will meet a fate far worse than death. Luckily for the nearby settlements, Starving Grottogars are fairly rare nowadays since they were hunted almost to extinction, and the ones that survived retreated to the Grotto Reaches.

Starving Grottogar is a neutral creature that costs 6 essence and has its stats set at 5 power and 4 health. However, what makes this unit a nice addition to any deck is the effect this card has if you’ve passed the leadership threshold. If you have at least 3 levels in leadership, when you play Starving Grottogar on the board, you can target a local enemy unit with 3 or less power and destroy it. A very convenient tool to have at your disposal.

Card Art Showcase: Azure Lashcaster

Dear Denizens of Issilith!

Issilith is a world full of rare sights and beautiful sceneries. Although to witness some of them, one will occasionally be forced to expose oneself to danger.

Azure Lashcaster is part of a mysterious and secluded race. They aren’t very welcoming towards strangers and are known to attack. That may be the main reason why so little is known about them. But what is known is that they can wield an unknown form of magic, and if they notice you are watching them, better run fast, for their next acts will certainly be imbued with extreme violence. Those that had the privilege to see them and leave unscathed, report that Azure Lashcaster can be found within ancient ruins, usually on a clearing that most likely used to be the main square. They practice their magic there, manipulating the wind flow to strike their enemies like a whip that breaks on the ostodon’s flank. Nevertheless, the whole sighting has been described as mesmerizing since the sequence performed resembles the dance performance more than it does the conventional training.

Azure Lashcaster is a devoted neutral unit that costs 3 essence. Its power is set at 1 and health at 2, but if you reach the 2 leadership threshold, on play you will activate its effect and deal 1 damage to all local units. Just keep in mind that Lashcaster will deal damage to your local units as well, so plan accordingly!
