The New Director FREE DLC is out now!

Dear Explorers,

We just launched The New Director free DLC for Curious Expedition 2! It's a free update, so it will be available to you immediately if you already own the game or if you just bought it.

This update features a new game mode (Director Mode) and plenty of new content. For those who like to discover things on their own, we suggest to stop reading here and just go play the game, you will eventually encounter some of the newest additions regardless of if you're playing the Campaign Mode or the Director Mode. For those who'd like a bit more information and are not afraid of spoilers, keep reading...
New game mode: Director Mode
Since releasing version 1.0 earlier this year, many of you have asked for an alternative game mode, less focused on the story compared to the existing Campaign Mode, and providing more replayability. We've listened to your feedback, and that's where the Director Mode comes in.

Narratively this mode takes place after the original campaign, starting in 1890. You take over as the Director of the Exposition as you explore islands containing greater dangers than you've ever faced before. For each year you complete, you have to add a new negative modifier to your trek. The end goal is to collect all the different Director Modifiers, and then complete one final year with them. It's not going to be easy!

We also introduced a new Hall of Fame screen where you'll be able to keep track of all your runs in both game modes.
New Biome: Corrupted Portal Worlds
This is a chaotic and unfriendly place, but one that offers new opportunities for those who know what they are looking for. It's a mysterious landscape heavily influenced by the purple fog, and dominated by features that aren't quite right. It definitely stands apart for most things that you've seen in Curious Expedition 2 so far. It's only accessible through portals that will appear throughout the game, so keep your eyes open for those.

This biome features a brand new location (the Mirror Circle) and corrupted versions of existing locations, new items, new events, new enemies and new creatures, such as the Jellyfish (which can be tamed to join your trek) and a massive monstrous creature known as The Duke.

We don't want to reveal everything about this biome, if you want to know in detail what has been added check out the change notes (linked at the bottom of this post), otherwise just go play and enter those portals!
New Tribe: Pale Masks
Who are these people? Can you trust them?

The Pale Masks are creepy occupiers who are related to the fog, spending their lives travelling through the corrupted biome. They are itinerant until they decide to settle down on an island, displacing the islanders who lived there before. They wear masks with wide smiles at all times. Exposure to the fog has left them fog-infected, with purple veins sometimes visible under their skin. Who knows what they look like behind their masks?
Additional content
• New enemy: Tyrannosaurus Rex
 • New recruitable character: Stygimoloch
 • New recruitable character (temporary, will join you for one expedition only): Zouave Veteran
 • New item: a cute truffle hog named “Joobee” (thanks to everyone who sent a naming suggestion!)
 • Various other new items
And there's more!
• We've added a Hall of Fame where you'll be able to see information about your past expeditions in both Campaign Mode and Director Mode. It's accessible from the main menu and the Tavern.
 • Last but not least, we made some changes to the way weekly Club Competitions work, let us know your thoughts!

We hope you'll enjoy this update and rest assured, we're not done yet! There will be more content updates coming in the upcoming months...

If you'd like to support us please tell your friends about the game, ask your favourite streamers to play it and if you encounter any issues, you can submit them using the Bug! button in Options screen.

You can find the change notes on our wiki.

Adventure awaits!

Free DLC coming on May 21!

Dear Explorers,

We're excited to inform you that the first Curious Expedition 2 post-launch content update is coming on Friday, May 21st, and it's going to be a real big one! We don't want to reveal everything right now, but here's some of the things you can expect to find:

 • A new game mode where you'll embark on a chain of expeditions in order to achieve as much fame as possible, bringing back some of the roguelike elements of the first Curious Expedition.
 • A new biome, chaotic and unfriendly, offering new opportunities for those who know what they're looking for.
 • A new masked tribe, related to the fog.
 • Lots of new events, locations, enemies, recruitable characters and items to discover.

This will be a free update for all owners of the game.

Adventure awaits!

New game mode — we're looking for playtesters!

As you've probably heard, since the 1.0 release we've been busy working on new content and on a new game mode for Curious Expedition 2. We've been doing some playtesting already and are now looking for more players to join and give us their feedback.

In order to participate you need to own the game already, but besides that we don't have other requirements. It's not necessary to have completed the campaign.

If you're interested and would like to help please join our Discord server and follow the instructions in the #announcements channel. The playtesting phase is now over, thanks to everyone who participated!

Help us name this truffle hog!

We need your help! We're currently busy working on new content for Curious Expedition 2, such as the truffle hog you see pictured above, which is going find different items by digging around the map. But we have a problem: we don't know what to name it!

Please share your name ideas by commenting on this post or on our Discord server in the #namethishog channel — if your suggestion is picked we'll add you to the special thanks in the game and send you some merchandise (plus Steam keys of both games if you don't have them already).

Oh, one more thing: Curious Expedition 2 is currently 15% off!

1.0.7 Patch Notes

Today's update should improve the game's framerate on larger maps in particular that some users were experiencing. If you had a laggy framerate in the late-game, check it out now and let us know if it's an improvement!

There's also a couple of balancing changes, and a number of fixes to cases where you could get stuck in some maps. Those were fixed based on your Bug Reports, which are very helpful as they include your savegame and log files when you send them in-game. So thanks, and keep them coming!
