Patch Notes: 5th Alpha Test
Hello my dear friends! Nimble Neuron’s GM Aesop here with patch notes for the upcoming 5th Alpha test.
BS:ER is still under development, as I’m sure you’re aware, and the game will continue to be improved well into the future. We also read all of your feedback from our 4th Alpha Test and took a lot of it into consideration when developing the game and making changes.
We hope that these patch notes help you further enjoy BS:ER!
New character: Hart Hart, the Peacekeeper, will be taking center stage on Lumia Island. Along with the power of music, she’ll be bringing her own unique weapon type - Guitars.
She will also be featuring a new “Evolution” system. The first time she crafts an Uncommon Guitar, a rare Guitar, or an epic Guitar, she gains 1 evolution point, so you’ll get a max of 3. You can then choose a skill to evolve, granting improvements to your abilities, which you can check out here:
It’s been a few months since our last test, so we’ve made a lot of changes. However, going forward, we plan to have more frequent, minor, changes as opposed to infrequent large ones.

[Character]
New character: Hart Hart, the Peacekeeper, will be taking center stage on Lumia Island. Along with the power of music, she’ll be bringing her own unique weapon type - Guitars.
She will also be featuring a new “Evolution” system. The first time she crafts an Uncommon Guitar, a rare Guitar, or an epic Guitar, she gains 1 evolution point, so you’ll get a max of 3. You can then choose a skill to evolve, granting improvements to your abilities, which you can check out here:
- Feedback (Passive)
- If Hart deals damage to an enemy with a normal attack, she recovers 1/1.5/2% of her SP.
When evolved: an additional sound wave is discharged with every normal attack, dealing .25AP damage. She discharges one additional sound wave per Evolution point.
- If Hart deals damage to an enemy with a normal attack, she recovers 1/1.5/2% of her SP.
- Q - Delay
- Hart strums her guitar, charging her sound waves. When she strums the guitar again, the charged sound waves are released. She can charge for up to 4 seconds, and maintain the sound wave for 4 seconds. She deals 60-180/80-240/100-300/120-360/140-420 (+0.2-0.6 AP) damage, depending on how long she charges.
When evolved: Reduces the movement speed of enemies hit. Movement speed reduction increases per number of Evolution points. - W - Overdrive
- Hart plays a lick on her guitar, increasing her Attack Power for 5 seconds.
When evolved: Reduces enemies' defense to her next sound wave. (Does not affect Weapon Skills.)
- Hart plays a lick on her guitar, increasing her Attack Power for 5 seconds.
- E - Flanger
- Hart quickly dashes in the targeted direction. She can activate this skill an additional two times. She moves 2m and strums her guitar, discharging sound waves in a 4m area around her and dealing 20/30/40/50/60 (+0.3AP) damage to enemies hit
When evolved: Activating this skill grants skill damage amplification for 4 seconds. This effect stacks up to 3 times. The amplification amount increases per number of Evolution points.

[Balance Changes]
We’re really tweaking numbers and working on finding a good fit for every character and their favorite items. Almost every single weapon has been adjusted from the last Alpha. If I were to list every single item and change, these patch notes would be more like a patch novel! It’s been a few months since our last test, so we’ve made a lot of changes. However, going forward, we plan to have more frequent, minor, changes as opposed to infrequent large ones.
- Item builds
- Many different builds and items have been adjusted to help reinforce strategic characteristics of each item. In our previous test, items were largely divided into basic attack focused builds and skill driven builds -- traps excluded.
- We’ve worked to clarify options between early and late game choices or skill types. For example, a build may be focused on auto attacks and would center around attack speed and critical hits, but you can also try and build extra normal attack damage
- We’ve tweaked some numbers around Skill Damage Increasing items. Skill damage increases come in two forms: Skill Damage Increase (%) and flat Skill Damage Increase. Our aim is to make percentage based increases good for powerful skills with long cooldowns, and flat increases better suited towards skills with shorter cooldowns or sustained damage.
- We’ve improved the efficiency of items for HP regen, SP regen, movement speed, vision range, and attack range. With the new zoom out feature, items with vision range are particularly stronger as you get a wider field of view.
- We’ve lowered the rarity of some relatively easy to craft Epic items, like those with 4 materials, to Rare.

[Improvements]
- Map improvements
..I think I’ve been here before- We added some cool landmarks all round the map and gave Lumia a little more life to help remind you where you are at a glance.
- Many item boxes have been changed to more properly match the region.
- The Alley has been made smaller, but the number of items remains the same, improving efficiency.
- We added some cool landmarks all round the map and gave Lumia a little more life to help remind you where you are at a glance.
- New item icons
- BS:ER has tons of items and our art team is working hard on making the icons for them all look awesome, so we updated some old ones and added new ones for items that didn’t have icons yet.
- Initial Restricted Area changes
Where are you gonna start first?- The first restricted areas will not be immediately assigned at the start of the game. This’ll give you all some more time to explore and move around the map and allows for more dynamic gameplay.
- Zoom out
- Whenever you equip an item that increases your vision range, your camera will zoom out a bit and give you an extended view of the area around you.
- Navigation / UI
My UI is so clean now!- The in-game UI now displays materials you can hunt/collect.
- The yellow triangle is your friend! The yellow triangle in the top left of the item icon will appear wherever the item is found. If there’s no yellow triangle, it’s not in your targeted items, and you’re free to delete it.
- The in-game UI now displays materials you can hunt/collect.
- Targeted Items in game
- Previously, if you built or crafted something, the item would remain in your “targeted items” area on the top right of your screen. Good news: we fixed that. When you build or loot something in that menu, it’ll disappear. This cleans things up a bit.
- When you select targeted items, a little yellow arrow triangle symbol thing would appear on the top left of the icons when you could craft it. That little yellow mark now follows you into your inventory! At a glance, it’s much easier to see what items build into now.

- Automatically equip items
Your Headband didn’t disappear from your inventory! You just equipped it!- If you have an empty item slot and you loot or craft something, you’ll automatically equip it and a sound will play alerting you that it happened.Targeted items in inventory
- Hyperloops visible on Saved Plans map
Zippin' around Lumia- You can now see hyperloops on the saved plans menu map. You can now more easily devise an extended route for getting all your items.
- Total stats in saved plans
The numbers.. What do they mean?!- You can now get an overview of the combined stats of each item you plan on building. You can check this out in the “Saved plans” section when you’re selecting your items!
- Better highlighting of containers
Ahh, so the piano wire was in the vending machine this time!- Containers and boxes stand out a lot more, so it’s easier to see them on the map. It’s also easier to see which ones you might’ve missed behind walls or elsewhere.
- Japanese fonts are now more readable.
[Bug Fixes]
Like every piece of software ever created, we also had some bugs. Thank you so much everyone for reporting them and helping us recreate and fix them.
- Weapon skills:
- Glove: Fixed a bug when using ‘Uppercut’ that caused the additional damage to apply to skills as well, instead of only basic attacks.
- Jackie
- Fixed a bug where the duration of the bleed effect of her passive went up with her character level. Bleed duration is now fixed at 5 seconds.
- Nadine
- Fixed a bug where the tooltip for “Squirrel Trap” wasn’t displaying damage correctly.
- Zahir
- Zahir’s passive, “Eye of Azrael”, is now only activated after killing an enemy.
- Traps
- You no longer take damage when outside of the range of exploding traps.
Squashed the bug where quickly clicking would install two traps.
