We are Big Moxi Games, a studio located in Brazil that dreams of changing the game development scenario in LATAM. We started Wardens Rising back in 2019, with the idea of mixing different genres we always loved: Action Shooter and Tower Defense.
Since we’ve been on this journey for quite some time now, you might already know Wardens Rising, that being for previous demos, trailers, or event participation.
We decided to start creating these Dev Blogs as we get closer to launch so that you will know who is behind this ambitious project.

[h3]Who are we?

Founded in 2018, Big Moxi Games began its mission to become a world-class full-service game development studio in LATAM focused on action, role-playing, and shooter genres for PC and console.
Our studios are located in the beautiful cities of Porto Alegre, Brazil, and Santiago, Chile; we have a large on-site team working side-by-side as well as remote team members from all over the LATAM region.

The idea of Wardens Rising began with the desire to create an experience to cool off from heavy PvP games.
You know that feeling of wanting to continue playing, but you don’t stand dealing with any more annoying people spamming you on chat?
Wardens Rising came as a solution for that.

That’s why you’ll see many MOBA-like elements in the game: the top-down perspective, heroes with different sets of skills, towers, a Nexus-like energy structure, and enemies coming from waves and paths. But here, you play solo or coop to defeat the massive invasions that come to annihilate your Cores.
We also wanted the player to have an active impact on the structures of the game. That’s why in Wardens Rising it all starts with the Build Phase.
This is where you build your defense structures with the resources (Synthesis) available for each invasion. Structures can also be upgraded with Synthesis, gaining more range and damage. New defense structures are unlocked as you progress through the game.
2024
After the Build Phase, you can start the invasion whenever you want. Each invasion has a unique pattern and set of enemies, with their paths highlighted on your minimap. Use your skills and abilities, combined with the structures you’ve built to protect your Synthesis Core.
Since we envisioned a game where each player can customize their loadout, after each invasion you’ll earn Hero Points and Souls, which can be spent to buy new items, perks, abilities, and more.
[h3]The Rise[/h3]
After many years of development, we’ve come close to optimal Wardens Rising build, but it was never exactly what we wanted. Since this is our first IP, we always wanted it to be as perfect as possible. This time we are pretty close.

We’ve struggled a bit with the definitive lighting, the Wardens balancing, the difficulty of the game, and its progression to keep players engaged with the experience.
We’ve also changed A LOT of how the multiplayer mode used to be in our first attempts at showing Wardens Rising to the public. Now it is a much more polished and fun mode where you and your friends can explode thousands of enemies as many times as you like.

Thanks to the support of the community we’ve been building through the years, we’ve been able to elevate the first idea we had and now are ready to scale it to its full potential.
In the next months, we will be providing more up-close communication to show you the evolution of the game, its development, and how the progress is going until its launch in 2025.
