Just wanted to share a quick update on stuff the team has been doing. As we mentioned before, we are doing some Steam Deck optimization-focused stuff, and that work is going quite well...

[h3]Halloween Contests[/h3]

Attention Terrarians, skeletons, ghosts, and other creatures that lurk within this server! Halloween is quickly approaching and we are hosting some special spooky contests this month that could potentially give you a massive boost in Prize Points.

What are Prize Points / Special Prize Points?
Prize Points are used to purchase game codes, signed Terraria merchandise, and server roles from our Prize Merchant Bot! You can view the Prize Points shop in the bot-commands channel by using the shp!viewshop command. Special Prize Points only apply towards the @Zenith and @Ultra Instinct roles.

Terraria Prize Shop
The exclusive Terraria Prize Shop features many incredible prizes including signed t-shirts, hoodies, pins, Steam games, and much more. You can redeem prizes with the prize points earned from events. In addition to these Halloween events there are daily activities in our communities ranging from Trivia to art creation and you can earn prize points from all these activities. TERRARIA HALLOWEEN PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST[/h2]
The first contest will be an in-real life pumpkin carving contest! This is a tradition in the community that has taken place many times over the years, since the first iteration in 2013. Think you got what it takes to enter that hall of fame? Check out the images below for examples of past winners!








How do you enter?
Create a spooky piece of Terraria-related art on a pumpkin, put a candle in it, and photograph it in the dark for the best look!

Please DM your photo submissions to @Submission Bot on our Discord to enter the contest. The first photo should be of the entry by itself, and then send a second photo which has your Discord username on a piece of paper in front of your entry, so we can verify that it is original. Entries without this second image for verification will not be accepted.

The rewards for this contest are as follows:
🥇 1st Place: 25,000 Prize Points or 250,000 Special Prize Points
🥈 2nd Place: 15,000 Prize Points or 150,000 Special Prize Points
🥉 3rd Place: 10,000 Prize Points or 100,000 Special Prize Points

TERRARIA HALLOWEEN IN-GAME COSTUME CONTEST[/h2]
The second contest will be an in-game Halloween Costume-themed Vanity contest so let your imagination and creativity go wild and create some real spooky costumes that would even scare the Moon Lord! Of course, if you have an amazing in real life Terraria costume that you want to show off, we won't turn that down either.

Terraria Halloween Costume Contest Rules
- Characters should be submitted with a Gemspark block background of your choosing, the Gemspark must consist of one solid color. Example entry below!



- Editing using image editing software is not allowed (direct, in-game screenshots only!).
- Try to avoid submitting your character wearing a normal full set of undyed armor.
- Modded content is not allowed.
- Include a name for your costume when submitting!
- Your character's costume should stand out on its own, without the help of any additional effects (including, but not limited to: summons, pets, particles, mounts, or environmental features).
- Only one submission per user.
- Submission must follow all server rules.
When you feel your submission is ready, DM @Submission Bot Bot on our Discord with your submission. Any submissions which do not comply with the rules or are not within the submission period will not be considered.

The rewards for this contest are as follows:
🥇 1st Place: 15,000 Prize Points or 150,000 Special Prize Points

Fall is nearly upon us, as 2021 turns towards its latter stages. We have always figured that the final few months of this year would be an intense and fantastic time for Terraria and Terrarians, and the reality is lining up with that quite well. From Xbox/PlayStation getting Journey's End in a week to ongoing work on Switch to a wide array of new merchandise items and much more - 2021 may be winding down, but Terraria is just getting started! We have a ton to go over this month, so let's jump right in!





[h2]PLAYING AROUND WITH STEAM DECK[/h2]



Recently, we were fortunate enough to receive one of the early waves of development hardware for Steam Deck. Terraria runs so well already on this amazing new platform, it is so customizable and opens the door for all new control schemes and more - in fact, the team is already looking for ways to further optimize the experience. This will take the form of a small upcoming PC update in order to optimize the controls, etc. in time for Steam Deck launch. We cannot wait for everyone to experience Terraria on Steam Deck - it really is a fantastic device for playing our game.

The level of quality and quantity on the Terraria Steam Workshop just continues to climb - nearly 30,000 packs and worlds so far, which is just insane! If you have not checked out the Workshop yet, what are you waiting for?



[h2]TERRARIA WORKSHOP DEVELOPER'S CHOICE SELECTIONS[/h2]
As in the past, we are gathering up our possible selections that we will reveal in a future State of the Game!



[h2]WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON?[/h2]

The team is taking a bit of a break from the Game Jams to work on the small Terraria PC update mentioned above in the Steam Deck news. We are looking forward to diving back into our latest Jam with both feet once we have that all squared away. It is a pretty cool second concept, and we are really enjoying how it is turning out.


So, for now, we will have to just continue to ask for your patience and trust in our process as we continue our own journey towards whatever lies ahead.

[h2]XBOX & PLAYSTATION[/h2]


Greetings, Terrarians! One week ago, we revealed the launch date for Journey's End on PlayStation and Xbox - leaving us one week out from this amazing update being in your hands!





The team is eagerly anticipating the launch, and we hope that each and every one of you enjoy the fruits of our labors over the past several months. We have really enjoyed working on this update and thank you as always for entrusting us with the opportunity. It is not a responsibility that we take lightly!


Of course, the team will be on full alert and standby for any bugs or issues that arise at launch - so be sure to use the Bug Report process that we will share in the launch day post if you encounter any issues!



[h2]NINTENDO SWITCH[/h2]


The team is continuing to chip away at the extra work needed to bring Journey's End to Nintendo Switch! What all does that entail? Mostly it has to deal with the specific features and scenarios that the Switch presents. Things such as


UI differences - Docked vs Undocked, etc.
Further Performance Optimization
Touch Controls Optimization, including the hybrid control styles dictated by Switch
All of the specific platform-required stuff
etc.



We do not have a precise update on timing to give you just yet. Give us a bit longer to be sure that things continue to stay on track and on schedule - we certainly do not want to give you any timing estimates that we are not confident to hit! That said, as of today, everything is very much going well and remains on time.

Hello everyone!

Hang in there, our Mobile friends - your time in the spotlight will come again soon enough. As you will see above, we are getting ever-closer to that console release, after which we will be entering the era of "Parity" where we are going to be pushing for a world where all Terrarians are on the same version.

We have also been made aware of some issues impacting some players in regards to Android 11. The team will be looking into this shortly, and we will get any needed fixes out just as soon as possible!
