Medicinal Herbs - Cannabis Grow Simulator News

Weekly development log 5

  1. Modeling on the professional options for growing has started.

  2. Detailed objects such as the attachment for automatic irrigation were modeled and programmed.

  3. A lot of work was done on the scripts this week. Logics were adjusted, bugs were fixed and the gameplay was expanded. The game was tested on 8 different computers in order to test the performance and find unwanted bugs.

Next week the focus will be on modeling new items. Then there is another script optimization and then the game and gameplay is already tested and errors are corrected.

So far everything is going according to plan. I hope it will stay that way =). I will try to release the functional game as early as possible and plan many updates in the form of new items and functions.

At this point in time I cannot say how far the simulation will develop. The early access plans are implemented (circumcision, temperature, humidity, CO2, mold, insects, fertilizer). Since an expanded nutrient system also requires real experience, I will probably not integrate this into the main game, but rather publish it as an addon or DLC. I really like this idea, but I want to avoid it being too much information for the players who just want to simulate.

Weekly development log 4

  1. A lot of work has been done on the performance so that the game can be played on as many PCs as possible. In order to be as efficient as possible, performance zones have been implemented. For example, when the player enters the grow room, all performance related objects are switched off unnoticed. An AMD RX580 graphics card reachs 136 fps or requires approx. 80 watts @60FPS at 1080p highest quali.

  2. The terrain itself has also been adjusted. Since it is the most important point in terms of performance, I am considering an option to be able to completely deactivate it.

  3. The first 4 grow boxes were largely completed. The only thing missing is the optimization of functions and optics.
    From left to right:
80x80x180cm grow box for mother plants.
80x80x180cm grow box for 4 plants.
120x120x200cm grow box for 9 plants.
240x240x200cm grow box for 18 plants.

  4. Mother plants and clones were added. This can save a lot of time.

  5. The function of the inventory has been revised. You can now pick up and place objects directly with the mouse.

  6. Water consumption has been added.

Weekly development log 3

    [previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
  1. The basic framework of the plots was completed this week. Smaller details will be added. A very big point, the performance, was started. All models have been adjusted and edited.

The performance will be further optimized with the help of benchmark tests.

Next, more items will be created and cultivation will be optimized.

Weekly development log 2

  1. The arrangement of the flower pots has been expanded. It will be possible to plant 1, 4, 9 and 16 plants at the same time in one box.

  2. Work has started on light, shadow and performance. I plan to find a compromise between good texture quality and performance.

  3. Work on the first property has started. This is not the quality of the end product, it is rather a demonstration of the development. The Devlog 2 video was rendered with the following hardware:

  4. This week there was another phone call with a good friend from the USA who could give very helpful information about cannabis growing. He works in a medical facility and is very knowledgeable. These are very useful informations for the simulation.

Weekly development log 1

A week after the release of the shop page in Steam, I would like to introduce you to the updates from last week:

  1. Various types of devices with screens have been added. The focus was on the function of the display. Menus with touch input are now possible.

  2. An example of the use of the LED screens is the wall thermometer and the electricity meter.

  3. There are now 10 different, original varieties that can be planted. Details such as the color of the plant and finished products have been added.

  4. Cutting the end products by hand can sometimes take longer, which is why the classic trimmer has been added. It works fully automated and does not require a lot of energy.

  5. The drag & drop function was added to the inventory. In most cases, this makes it easier to deal with the inventory. The next step is design.

  6. Functions have also been added to the inventories of the devices. Wrong things in the inventory can damage the devices.
