Season of the Divide: Artifact Deep Dive
Greetings, Adventurers!
Season 8 introduces a powerful new set of Artifacts. Whether you aim to sprint across the battlefield, outlast your foes, or sap their strength with forbidden magic, these gear pieces unlock new tactical layers for every playstyle.

Let’s take a look at the new additions.
OLD CROWN – MEDIUM HEADWEAR
Once worn by an ancient ruler of Aeternum, the Old Crown is a majestic helm focused on versatility and durability. With its triple gems and balanced stat line, it’s perfect for hybrid builds that need elemental and physical resistances without sacrificing attributes.
Royal: +10 to all Attributes.
Gem Slot: Energizing Spectral Ward.
Immaculate Onyx: +3% Physical Absorption.
Immaculate Opal: +3% Elemental Absorption.
How to get: Available through Seasonal Activities and Elite Chests in Elysian Wilds.
VAMPIRE’S VESTMENTS – LIGHT CHEST
Designed for mages and lifesteal builds, Vampire’s Vestments allow you to trade mana for raw sustain in combat. It rewards ability-based pressure while ensuring your resource pool stays active through smart basic attack use.
Drain: Hitting a target consumes 10 mana. If mana is spent this way, that hit grants 10% lifesteal. If using a magic weapon, only abilities trigger lifesteal while basic attacks restore 10 mana (0.5s cooldown).
Gem Slot: Slotable.
How to get: Earned from Season Pass Rewards or found in Arcane Tempest chests.
LICH GLOVES – LIGHT HANDS
These gloves are a perfect fit for spellcasters who love to stack power before unleashing a flurry of light attacks. Time your bursts well to maximize Empower bonuses before your next basic strike.
Curse: Activating an ability grants +4% Empower for 7s (stacks to 3). All stacks are lost on basic attack (cannot gain new stacks for 5s after losing them).
Gem Slot: Slotable.
How to get: Dropped from Season 8 Elite Trial Bosses.
RUNIC GREAVES – HEAVY FEET
Built with speed glyphs embedded in the plating, Runic Greaves offer tanks and bruisers a moment of mobility after deploying their Heartrune. An excellent option for closing gaps or making a tactical escape.
Expeditious: Activating a Heartrune grants 33% Move Speed for 7s.
Gem Slot: Slotable.
How to get: Available from Seasonal Activity Card and Faction Vendor Cache (Rank 5+).
CHAOS – BLUNDERBUSS
A brutal weapon for area denial and explosive mayhem. Chaos turns Blast Shot into a battlefield nuke, flinging ignited enemies through enemy lines for devastating cleave potential.
Chaos Blast: Blast Shot gains +300% push distance. The first target hit is ignited and becomes a projectile, dealing 50% weapon damage to all enemies they pass through.
Gem Slot: Slotable.
How to get: Earned by defeating the Flamebound Shaman in the Flamecaller Outpost.
WIT – LONGSWORD
Wit is a clever twist on classic tank play, amplifying threat generation and punishing foes who dare strike back. Its insult-laced edge draws aggro like a magnet while softening incoming blows.
Snide Remarks: Taunts are active. Light attack critical hits generate 250% more threat. On crit, reduce hostile AI’s base damage to you by 15% for 3s.
Gem Slot: Slotable.
How to get: Dropped from Seasonal Expedition Bosses or found in Honorable Ward Chests.
RELENTLESS – TOWER SHIELD
Relentless is the embodiment of unshakable support. While sacrificing some of your own defenses, you empower nearby allies with massive armor boosts and gain increased healing intake for long-lasting frontline resilience.
Altruism: While in combat, nearby allies gain +35% Armor. You receive +20% increased incoming healing (excluding lifesteal and consumables). Your own Armor is reduced by 20%.
Gem Slot: Slotable.
How to get: Found in Season 8 Influence Race Reward Caches.

New World Aeternum Season 8 has Hardcore worlds with super-fast progression

While New World's overhaul and expanded relaunch as New World Aeternum was meant to re-establish the MMO as one of the genre leaders, the initial excitement for it has been wilting. On Steam at least, player counts have been gradually tailing off ever since the initial Aeternum spike last year, but with the game's upcoming Season 8 update, it's introducing some high-risk, high-reward gameplay in new Hardcore worlds and testing out plenty of new PvP experiences too.
What’s New in Season 8 – “Season of the Divide”

Hardcore Seasonal World
Speed. Strategy. Survival.

This season’s Seasonal World, Hardcore, introduces a thrilling twist to character progression. New characters begin in a “unfallen” state, gaining access to elite rewards if they survive without dying. Die once, and you will forfeit the ability to unlock the unfallen rewards. However, your character will remain, and your experience on the server will become easier. You’ll still have plenty of other rewards to chase and unlock for your account and primary characters, even after you’ve fallen. If you’ve never experienced some of the pinnacle group content, or struggled to find a group, this server is the perfect place to power up and dive into that content with ease.

Leveling and gearing up is faster than ever in this limited-time world with a completely different, streamlined main questline to follow. Artifact equip limits are lifted, allowing players to power up like never before. Push yourself to the brink or reroll to reclaim your unfallen glory. The choice is yours.

The Season 8 Hardcore Seasonal World will will only be available for a limited time and launch in early June. Look forward to more details closer to launch.
Capture the Flag Preview
Capture the Flag is a new PvP mode coming to New World: Aeternum that players will have a chance to test during Season 8. This exciting new mode pits two teams of 10 players against each other in a fast-paced fight to control the team’s flag. Score as many captures as you can in the limited time to win. Powerups and Jump Pads in this mode make it feel more competitive and unlike any other PvP mode in the game. We look forward to sharing all the details about this new mode before our test events, so stay tuned!
Outpost Rush: Barebones Preview
Outpost Rush: Barebones is a new spin on our most popular game mode that attempts to level the playing field completely. In this version, all gear perks are disabled and everyone is bumped up to max gear score. If you feel like your gear isn’t good enough for PvP or want to prove that you’re better than your gear, join us!
3v3 Arena Map Preview
We will also preview our latest offering for 3v3 Arenas that features our largest arena to date set in an ancient temple grove. The death fog closes in sooner in this map causing an early ranged advantage to quickly become a melee advantage.
Combat & Quality of Life Updates
• PVP Camps - Open world PvP is getting an upgrade! Players flagged for PvP will now be able to place or bind to faction only destructible camps. Hunt down and destroy enemy faction camps to remove your enemy’s ability to respawn close to the fight, creating a more strategic experience in Influence Races and open world PvP combat.
 • Ready Up – Start PvP matches faster when enough players opt in.
 • Spectator Cam – Watch the battle after death in select game modes.
 • Survival Potions – 5 new potions to choose between to modify different aspects of survivability in combat.

* Burst Regen Potion - A small burst of healing followed by a passive regen for a duration (Combination of Health and Regen potions)
* Health Shot Potion - Similar to a health potion but provides with less healing, but can be used more often
* Shield Potion - Grants damage reduction for 3 hits taken, lasts until timer runs out or until the hits are taken
* Grit Potion - Grants the uninterruptible effect for the duration
* Lifesteal Potion - Increases the power of all lifesteal effects for the duration.
 • Target Lock Updates - Target lock and aim assist were added primarily to assist controller players to compete with mouse and keyboard aiming, but when combined they made aiming almost completely unnecessary. In retrospect, we feel that removing aiming as a necessity on controller harmed the skilled nature of our combat so we’ve made some changes to target lock to bring back the skill.

* We’ve reduced the amount of aim assist you receive when locked onto enemy players on controller, making it harder to hit moving targets, but have also tuned aim assist to work better with controller outside of target lock. The goal was for target lock to still be useful in certain situations, but players must now manage it more actively since it isn’t as simple as just locking on a target and expecting everything to hit.
* Target lock now breaks when your target moves behind the camera. This was changed to add more counter-play to target lock as you can dodge through someone to break their lock and it’s now more difficult to track a target that is actively trying to disengage your lock.
* Target lock also now breaks when entering aim down sights.
* We’ll be keeping an eye on this feature in the future and will make more tweaks to dial things in as needed.

Stay tuned for more information in upcoming deep dives and release notes as we approach launch. We’ll see you in Aeternum.

New World Aeternum: Season 8 - Season of the Divide Dev Update

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Greeting, Adventurers!
Season 8: Season of the Divide is on the way, and with it comes a new wave of content, features, and updates for New World: Aeternum. To help players better track what’s coming next for Season 8 and beyond, we’re continuing with our Living Roadmap format. Our goal is to keep you informed as development progresses across three stages:

 • Next Season (short-term): What is coming in the next seasonal update.
 • In-Development (mid-term): What is in active development and will be coming in upcoming seasons and updates.
 • In-Exploration: Ideas the Dev team is discussing or exploring. These are features we've heard from players would be exciting for them, or that we just think would be good additions to the game. Some might move to in-development, some might fall off altogether if they are determined to not be feasible or are no-longer of interest to our players, but we want to show what we're investigating here in the studio.

Watch the full video for a complete breakdown of what’s launching in Season 8, what’s currently in development, and what the team is exploring for the future. We’ll see you in Aeternum!

Changes made for this preview:

 • Cleaned up the environment collision to aid in navigating the map.

 • Adjusted fort entrances so they are equally distant from Sol outpost, allowing both teams to arrive at the same time.
 • Adjusted lighting to reduce saturation and improve visibility throughout the map.
 • Reduced the cost of buildable bridges to 40 stone/40 wood and made them buildable from both sides.
 • Removed the barriers leading to Baroness.
 • Adjusted the subterranean areas of the map to improve visibility.
 • Fixed an issue that allowed player to mantle wall of Star Outpost in the original Outpost Rush.
 • Fixed an issue where players were able to platform into Sol & Astra outposts, bypassing the gates.
 • Fixed an issue that caused Outpost Luna icons in Trench to not appear when zoomed in.
 • Fixed issues where the terrain was raised above the ground in multiple areas.
AGiD (Amazon Games ID)
You’ll be prompted on login to link your account with an AGiD via QR code. This is not required, but if you link your account, you’ll receive some rewards for your effort! Please note that linking your account will permanently tie all game progress and purchases to your Amazon Games iD.
Notable Fixes
• We are currently looking into the cause of VFX culling across Aeternum and have implemented changes that will resolve some of these VFX culling issues, but not all of them. This is a high priority for our team, so we will continue to dive into this to provide a full fix.
 • Fixed an issue with body blocking in raids on PvP servers when players are differing factions
 • Fixed an issue causing Typhon to sometimes remain in phase two when phase three is initiated.
 • Fixed an issue that allowed players to activate Hatchet's Berserk ability without playing its animation.
 • Fixed the Season Pass 'Hail to the King Seasonal World Bonus Challenge' Task not mentioning you need a melee weapon equipped for the challenge to be completed.

Thank you for your continued support! We’ll see you in Aeternum.
