EXPLORE THE ETERNAL ISLE
The shipwreck was only your first step into the clutches of an island lost to time. Death does not exist here. An even worse sentence — a lose of memory, purpose, and self — awaits. For all immortality gives, it continues to take. The mindless hordes possessed by the insatiable evils of the Corrupted only accelerate this vicious cycle. Whether by coincidence or fate, you learn of an ancient order that stood against those seduced by whispers of power. Choose how to shape your journey as you unravel Aeternum’s mysteries and thwart the Corrupted before they drift beyond its shores.
FORGE YOUR FUTURE
Everything from your character to their outfit, weapons, tools, mounts, camp skins, and emotes are fully customizable. That flexibility extends to the rest of your journey as the entire story can be completed alone or with friends across all platforms. Learn various Trade Skills like Cooking, Crafting, Musical Instruments, and Fishing along the way for an even more immersive experience. Need stronger gear? Craft a sword and sell it at the nearest settlement. Want more coin to purchase a house? Play an instrument at the center of a bustling town for tips. There are multiple ways to progress and grow in power.

Factions are another way to forge your legacy. You can join either the Covenant, Marauders, or Syndicate. Each steadfast in their beliefs, your allegiance will dictate your allies in cooperative activities. Together you can complete quests, fend off dangers in the open world, and even form a Company. Contribute to their reputation throughout Aeternum for additional rewards. Your fellow members might gift you gear for easier progression or revive you in chance encounters while traveling to their next destination. Lend a hand to help your Faction thrive.
PLAY YOUR WAY
Discover your perfect combination of weapons, abilities, and skill trees to survive the island's wild environment. Throughout the vast world, you’ll collect an arsenal of 15 distinct weapons. Finding the best one for your playstyle is part of the adventure. Early on you'll select a character archetype. This will determine your starting weapons, better ease you into the dynamic, real-time combat, and include initial Trade Skill boosts. Regardless of your choice, you can freely switch between any of the following weapons after you find them:

New World Update 5.0.2

Greetings, Adventurers!

New World Update 5.0.2 downtime will begin at 5:00 a.m. PT (12:00 p.m. UTC) on June 4 and last approximately 1.5 hours. Hunt or be hunted in pursuit of new and returning event-specific loot during Rabbit’s Revenge. Explore the full release notes, including the addition of our new server Shard tech, below.
RABBIT’S REVENGE
• The furry little killers are back for even more explosive vengeance. Corrupted rabbits will roam the wilds of Aeternum from June 4 through June 18. This rabbit season includes a corrupted Flail, a corrupted armor skin, and an emote that only the most corrupt Adventurers will discover. All rewards except for the emote are guaranteed after a certain number of corrupted rabbits have fallen.
 • Check out the full reward breakdown here.
SHARDS
We’re excited to introduce Shards, a new server technology coming to New World.
WHAT ARE SHARDS?
Shards are duplicated segments of the game world designed to better manage player populations. Each region or zone within the game has population limits. By seamlessly duplicating these segments into new instances, we can accommodate more players in the same space without affecting game performance or the user experience. You won’t encounter loading screens when moving in and out of Sharded areas and will typically be unaware that a Shard is present.
INITIAL ROLLOUT
For the initial release, Shards will be implemented for the starting beaches and settlements of Monarch’s Bluffs and Windsward. This will help us accommodate new players and reduce queue times. Based on technical performance and player feedback, we may expand Shards to other regions of Aeternum in the future.
IMPACT ON GAMEPLAY
We aim for seamless gameplay whether you're in a Shard or not. Here’s how Shards will work:
SOCIAL CONNECTIONS
• Groups: Prioritized to stay together in the same Shard, as long as there’s capacity.
 • Solo Players: Paired with friends or Company members in the same Shard when possible.
 • Joining Others: To join someone in a different Shard, be in the same area and select “Join Shard” from the Social Menu.
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS
• Area Chat: Limited to players within the same Shard, while Global Chat remains unchanged.
 • Proximity Actions: Activities like trading, music, and dueling require all participants to be in the same Shard.
PLAYER VS PLAYER
• Dedicated PvP Shard: Each area has a single Shard for PvP to ensure fair play.
 • PvP Flagging: Players flagged for PvP in non-PvP Shards will transfer to the PvP Shard.
 • Initial Implementation: Sharding will be limited to Monarch’s Bluffs and Windsward initially. Expansion to other zones will depend on feedback and performance.
CAMPS
• Camp Locations: Camps remain in the Shards where they were placed.
 • Recalling to Camp: You can recall to your Camp location without being forced into its Shard.
 • Shard Shutdowns: If a Shard with your Camp is shut down, the Camp will be removed, and you’ll be notified.

Stay tuned for more updates on Shards as we refine this feature based on your feedback.

Adventurer Spotlight: Utopian Organ

Greetings, Adventurers!

Get to know some of your fellow Adventurers throughout Community Convergence. Our second profile spotlights the Utopian Organ, an online newspaper dedicated to a group of players’ lives in Aeternum. The site covers guides, fashion, builds, news, and Mutations with some fun extras like the Agony Aunt advice column and Classifieds section. Here’s the story behind Newworldnews.org.
BEHIND THE ORGAN
“I'm Landi and I play on the Delos server with my husband, Narokstar, and daughter, Playlish (Lish for short),” Landi said. “We all work together on ideas for the site. Lish and I do most of the writing, while Narok streams on Twitch. We encourage contributions from our company, Don't Die Alone, and feature content written by the following Delosians: CheeseGX, Zelus, Moon, A. Bacon, sirvulcan, ABYZZMOS, Jeigo, CV Turner, and Meddikk. One of our most useful articles, the New World FAQ, was created and is maintained by Geofgivens from El Dorado. We also have a guest article on rare furniture written by Eirill from the Nyssa server.”

“The Utopian Organ is the brainchild of Lish and myself. We wanted to make something fun and talked about it for quite a while, until Lish pressured me into finally buying a domain name and web hosting. It was originally meant for fashion and furniture features, which we have sadly neglected but hope to get back to soon.”

“We have a lot of ideas but don’t often turn them into reality. There’s a puzzle clue in the Classifieds that refers to this.”
FORGING BONDS AND MEANING
“It's also a fun project for my daughter and I to bond over. Playing a journalist and collecting stories and pictures enhances our gaming experience. Getting other people involved really makes it feel like we're doing something more meaningful, and we love every piece of content that has been contributed.“

“Ultimately, we want people to see the depth that online worlds have to offer. As well as the game mechanics, quests, battles, etc., there's an underlying community of player interactions. We would really like the site to be a place to showcase that community. While we're open to article idea submissions and have forms for builds, classifieds, and transmog, it's sometimes harder to network with larger pools of people. For example, I'd love to have a war correspondent and articles about the politics of war companies. It's not something we're involved with, but it sounds fascinating.“
A NAME AT THE CENTER OF THE COMMUNITY
“The name is based on the Utopia server, which we still miss. The organ element is a bit controversial and really took a lot of persuasion from Lish for me to accept it. Obviously, the first organ that comes to mind is the heart, which places us at the center of the community. However, other people seemed to get a different idea about the name, so after a year we purchased the newworldnews.org domain name to convey the connection to the game and provide a more sanitized link to share.”

“Utopian Organ makes the initials UO, just like Ultima Online, which is the game my husband and I met in about a quarter of a century ago. We lived on opposite sides of the country, but we ended up moving to the same city, getting married and having kids. So, gaming has impacted our lives significantly, and we wanted to honor that in this current chapter.”
AN ‘OLDE WORLDE’ VIBE
“There are so many videos out there but not a lot of good websites. We liked the idea of an ‘olde worlde’ vibe, even to the point of doing the unthinkable and using a serif font for the body text. While videos are great for passive entertainment, we feel like information is best provided with words and still images, so you can absorb it at your own pace. We are branching into a little bit of video in our articles though to cater to a more diverse audience.”
GET THE LOOK SERIES
“We love our Get the Look series of articles. Originally, we would take screenshots of random players' outfits and then try to recreate them. This was quite a lot of detective work, but heaps of fun. Recently, we changed it to a more consensual model that receives information from the owner of the outfit and includes a gallery of posed portraits.”

Because of our love for fashion, we spent a lot of time saving the Armor Catalog when the official forums closed and have all the images that were posted. It was a huge undertaking. We haven’t followed up with updating it, since there are other sites with good transmog databases now. It is nice to have the history though. If anyone started contributing submissions, we would add them.“
THE FUTURE OF THE UTOPIAN ORGAN
“We don't make any money from the site, so it's purely a passion project. We get some satisfaction from seeing how much we've created, and almost as a journal of our lives in New World. When you play a game daily, even if it's only evenings, it forms a large part of your reality. So, I guess for me, it’s a way to express my experiences creatively.”

“We would like to get more people involved and have a diverse range of viewpoints and articles. We definitely want to get into making more furniture and fashion features. I'm also in the process of updating the Mutation Rotation templates to make them more factual and functional. We're excited to find out what will happen after the big announcement in June and hope to have lots of new material to write about.“

Look forward to more articles on all things New World from the Utopian Organ in the future. You can also submit your ideas to contribute through the form towards the bottom of their homepage. Thanks for your support and we’ll see you in Aeternum!

Adventurer Spotlight: Newb World

Greetings, Adventurers!

Get to know some of your fellow Adventurers throughout Community Convergence. Our first profile spotlights Newb World, a longtime player with passion for the story of Aeternum. Newb World covers lore, guides, and unique community events on their YouTube channel. When they’re not capturing footage for series like The Story of New World, they run dailies, work towards top tier trophies, or jump into any content depending on their mood. Here’s how Newb World found their niche on Aeternum.
FIRST MEMORY OF NEW WORLD
“New World looked so fun in all of the trailers and pre-release tests,” Newb World said. “I was a console gamer at the time, but eventually got a nice PC, picked up the game on sale, and fell in love. After 2,000 hours, I still look forward to logging in, not to mention coming up with video ideas whilst at work.”
THE START OF A CHANNEL
“I never thought I'd make content until I realized how much I liked the game. I felt I wasn't good enough to make guides, so I started with a small project — video footage of each elemental effect on every weapon type. This was before transmog released.”

“The views were better than my previous channels. I had a blast capturing footage, editing, and experimenting with different content. One and a half years later, I’m still enjoying myself. My goal is to make at least 1 video per week, on my days off of work. The community was a massive part of my decision. All of those positive comments made me want to stay and be a part of it.”
TRANSMOG CONTEST
“When transmog came out, I hosted a contest with random people. The fun, unique outfits people brought motivated me to do it again with higher video production. I also wanted to better tap into the community, which sparked collaborations with some of my favorite content creators.”

“Thank you to DannehTV, itsGlaive, BDLG, TrickTrick, Goddess009, Savvvo, JoshsTip, and vXBlackSwanXv for joining the contest. From there, I built a massive stage and judging section in my house, coordinated everyone's schedule, received all of the submissions, tallied the judges' scores, and finally began editing. It took over 15 hours. I also want to thank the random people in Maramma that emoted for extra video footage.”

“I’ve never been more proud of a video. Working with all of these amazing people was a great experience. The response from each one, plus the community as a whole was really heartwarming. It’s something I'll never forget.”
THE STORY OF NEW WORLD
“Following the announcement of the main story quest (MSQ) rework, I realized I had rushed through the story to reach end game faster. I wasn't sure what was happening on Aeternum. That was a great opportunity to go back, dig deeper into the lore, and take the community along for the journey.”

“I constantly have to stop and work on my series as to not get too far ahead. I always want to hurry back to take the small, encouraging group of people that follow it on the next step in our adventure. I can't wait to experience the rest of the updated zone stories, Ebonscale and Shattered Mountain in particular, especially since I couldn't resist watching the new cutscenes. They're a massive step up from anything I've seen up to this point."
FORGING CONNECTIONS
“Since starting the series, the story does feel far more personal. I wrote the first episode in first person, but it didn't feel right, so I changed it to third. Now I get into my character's head more and the story feels more like it's happening to me.”

“When I received Barkimedes’ Puppy as a reward for an Amrine Excavation quest, I needed to figure out how to weave him into my character's narrative, why the puppy looks different from his father, a backstory, a name, and the character's response. Luckily, I mentioned in a previous episode that Jin-Jae gave me a house in reference to the first house discount system in New World. Next, if the puppy's going to be there and I'm out, I'll need a dog house with water, food, and bathing stations. I bought any furniture I could use from the Trading Post to get all of that done. But you can't leave a dog alone for too long, so I said that Jin-Jae would check on him when I was out of town, as she lived next door.“

“One small little detail sent me down a massive rabbit hole that took over an hour to complete. On my first character, I didn't even know I had that puppy or where I got him. Now, every time I teleport to that house, I see him and remember my journey. I am slowly building a personal connection with the story, but didn't have one going into this series.”
FAVORITE PART OF THE STORY
“My favorite part has to be the Isabella arc, especially after her backstory with Father Russo was fleshed out in the updated MSQ. It really humanizes her. In my first playthrough of the old MSQ, I wanted to take her down. This time I felt sorry for her. That change was only from watching the new cutscenes, since I skipped the dialogue to save it for my lore series. I can only imagine how much more I will feel when I look deeper into the lore.“

Look forward to more The Story of New World and new series like a competitive Dueling League from Newb World in the future. We’ll feature additional spotlights throughout Community Convergence. Thanks for your support and we’ll see you in Aeternum.
