New World Update 2.0.4

Greetings, Adventurers!

Updated on 9/12:
The Siege of Sulfur event will be extended until October 3rd.
 • We recognize that the event's launch didn't go as smoothly as we had anticipated and are dedicated to improving the overall experience through additional fixes. In light of the difficulties that have affected completion and enjoyment, we have made the decision to extend the event. We hope that this extension will provide players with a better opportunity to fully experience the encounter and its unique rewards over the next few weeks.

New World Update 2.0.4 downtime will begin at 11:00PM PT (6:00AM UTC) on August 29 and last approximately 2 hours. As the final portals close on Luck of the Bones, a new danger descends upon Aeternum. Defend sandwurm eggs in the Siege of Sulfur event for a Mini-Devourer hat skin, sandwurm egg housing item, and more.

You can also check out the upcoming store catalogue in our first showcase video, plus Transmog bug fixes, a new community spotlight on fashion, and the August Q&A.
SIEGE OF SULFUR
Team up with 10+ max-level players to defend sandwurm eggs from waves of Sulfur Elementals for limited-time, sandwurm themed rewards on August 30 through September 12. You’ll also earn rewards that will help you defeat Shah Neshen. How will you stop the Siege of Sulfur?

Explore our announcement article for more details.
STORE SHOWCASE
There is a constant swirl in the balance between light and shadow, the real and the void. Take your stand and look for new apparel, weapon and emote bundles in the store throughout September. These items can be obtained individually or as part of a bundle in exchange for Marks of Fortune. Here’s a preview of what to expect:
RELEASE NOTES

CLIENT PERFORMANCE
• We previously capped the number of sounds in high-density player scenarios. These limits were bypassed when developing new content which reduced the game client performance in any scenario with more than five players. Most players should now see improved client performance during PVP and heavy PVE game modes as a result of reinstituting those audio limits.
QUESTS
• The proper Samuel Worthington Bloodgood III will now be visible for the Stalk of Shame quest turn in.
TRANSMOG
• Updated the icons for the Corrupted Dynasty Longsword and Musket at the Stylemancer.
 • Players with female character models will now see updated the icons for Thorpe's Helm, Prime Light Headwear and Yezariael's Visage when viewed at the Stylemancer.
 • Updated icons for several items including Bear Bones Medium set, Vagabond Light Handwear, Breach Void Gauntlet and Corrupted Orichalcum Ice Gauntlet.
 • Updated Transmog error messages to show which skin is not being applied, either because there is no item in that slot, or that skin is already applied.
SPEAR
• Invigorating Crits - added a 0.1s cooldown to prevent it from triggering more than once per attack.
 • Invigorating Combo - Reduced target limit from 4 to 2, so now it can only trigger 2 activations per use.
PVP ARENAS
• Improved 3v3 Arenas queue to more quickly get players into pre-match games that need additional Adventurers.
NOTABLE FIXES
• Fixed an issue that prevented trophy buffs from being applied and allowed some decorations to be placed more times than intended.
 • Fixed an issue that caused a placeholder in the Crafting Station list upon first login.
 • Fixed an issue with the Transmog preview when previewing gloves while using an Ice or Void Gauntlet would result in your right forearm turning invisible until you exited the Stylemancer screen.
 • Fixed an issue that allowed other players to appear when using the Stylemancer/Change Skin menu.
 • Fixed an issue that caused some skins to not show a proper tool tip in the Transmog window.
 • Fixed an issue that allowed players to gain more experience than intended after bulk leveling Trade Skills.
 • Fixed a visual issue with some roofs throughout Aeternum.
 • Fixed an issue that caused Golden Scarab crafts to incorrectly count toward Season Challenges.
KNOWN ISSUES
• Voice chat may briefly stop working while on the respawn screen.
 • Voice chat may stop working upon joining a group or when entering/leaving an instance like Expeditions, 3v3 Arenas, and Outpost Rush.
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT
We asked you to share your best Transmog images in celebration of the new feature. Here are some of our favorites:

Transmog FAQ

Greetings, Adventurers!

Show off your favorite skins when Transmog comes to New World on August 21. Downtime will begin at 5AM PT (12:00PM UTC) and last approximately 1 hour. Use consumable Transmog Tokens to capture the appearance of any gear collected in the world and then transform it into a usable skin for your cosmetic collection. How will your aesthetic inspire other players?

We caught up with the Development Team to discuss everything you need to know about the new feature. Read on for a breakdown of how it works.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
HOW DOES TRANSMOG WORK?
Interact with the Stylemancer NPC in any settlement and select a specific piece of gear to view its Transmog options. Next, you’ll see a thumbnail grid of potential appearances for the slot. This includes both collected skins and entitled skins from Twitch Drops, Prime Gaming Loot, and the in-game Store.

After you’ve acquired an item as loot, the option to capture its appearance will be permanently available from the Stylemancer, even if you salvage, discard, or trade the item. Any items obtained prior to the release of this feature, but no longer owned must be reacquired for the menu to recognize and allow players to Transmog it.

The appearance of almost any weapon, tool, and armor can now be converted into a skin for 1 Transmog Token.
 • Transmog Tokens cannot be spent on Twitch Drop, Prime Gaming Loot, Leaderboard reward skins, and in-game Store items since they’re already available as skins. New icons will identify the source of each item for your convenience.
 • Some items like Leaderboard reward skins will not appear on the Transmog screen.
 • Any item that was in your inventory following the release of Transmog can have its appearance captured, even if you no longer own it.
 • Once confirmed, the skin will now appear in the Change Skin menu as a skin option. Transmog skins will be available forever account-wide, regardless of ownership status of the original gear piece.
 • You can sort through the menu by Name, Source, Owned vs. Unowned, Captured vs. Uncaptured, Full Sets vs. Partial Sets (includes the option to apply appearances available from the matching set so you can quickly change the entire outfit), and Transmog Factor (Tier).
WHAT ARE TRANSMOG TOKENS?
Use consumable Transmog Tokens at Transmog Stations to capture the appearance of any item in your inventory. Once an appearance has been captured, it is permanently available as a skin. The captured skin will then appear as an item that can be applied to another skin in the change skin menu.

Each skin capture will cost one Transmog Token. Your current amount of Transmog Tokens will be visible in the menu.
HOW TO GET TRANSMOG TOKENS?
Transmog Tokens can be obtained for free through the following methods:

Free Season Pass Rewards Track:
 • 1 Transmog Token can be earned at Level 15, Level 50, and Level 100 for a total of 3 Transmog Tokens.
Elite Chests: (1% Drop Chance)
 • You can earn one Transmog Token per week from any Elite Chest.

Transmog Tokens can also be obtained for Marks of Fortune:

Premium Season Pass Rewards Track:
 • 1 Transmog Token can be earned at Level 7, Level 18, Level 65, Level 75, and Level 85 for a total of 5 Transmog Tokens.
In-Game Store:
 • 1 Transmog Token for 2,500 Marks of Fortune
 • 2 Transmog Tokens for 5,000 Marks of Fortune
 • 5 Transmog Tokens for 10,000 Marks of Fortune
 • 10 Transmog Tokens for 20,000 Marks of Fortune

Please note that Transmog Tokens are not tradable. There is no functional difference between free and paid Tokens.
CAN I TRANSMOG SKINS ACROSS DIFFERENT WEIGHT, WEAPON, AND APPAREL TYPES?
• You can Transmog from light to heavy or medium armor appearances and vice versa.
 • You can only Transmog within the same Weapon type (Muskets can only apply to Muskets, Swords to Swords, etc).
 • Transmog only works across the same slot for apparel (head only works with head, chest with chest, etc).
 • All Tiers and rarities are eligible for Transmog.
HOW DO SKIN DYES WORK WITH TRANSMOG?
You can use any consumable Dye to change the color of your Transmog skins. The underlying piece of gear and the Transmog version can have different appearances. For example, you can dye a Helmet after changing it’s appearance, but that Helmet will go back to its original color when you remove the Transmog skin.
ARE TRANSMOG TOKENS AND SKINS AVAILABLE ACCOUNT-WIDE?
You will have a shared balance of Transmog Tokens across your account. That means spending a Transmog Token on any character will reduce your total account balance. Customized Transmog skins will also be available account-wide, making your preferred fashion accessible to all of your characters. Your alternate characters do not need the underlying skin to select a Transmog outfit. The custom skin will automatically be available to all of your characters through the change skin menu.

Thanks for your support! We’ll see you in Aeternum.
