New World Update 1.3.4

New World Update 1.3.4 downtime will begin at 11PM PT (7AM UTC) on March 8.

Greetings, Adventurers!

This week’s update includes fixes and changes for Tuning Orb cooldowns, alongside fixing some general key issues.

General Updates & Fixes
Weapons

Sword
Leaping Strike: Fixed an issue which caused this ability to be interrupted if the player was hit by a light attack.
Void Gauntlet
Refreshing Harvest: Fixed an issue where this passive ability would incorrectly reduce cooldown from any damage taken rather than only on damage taken from Harvest Essence.
Tradeskills
• Logging: Reworked logging exp curve with most of the focus on the first 100 levels. We felt that leveling logging especially at the lower levels was progressing slower than we liked so we sped up the entire curve to make the experience feel smoother.
 • Crafting Stations: Fixed an issue preventing a number of characters matching an uncommon criteria while playing on a German or French language client from interacting with crafting stations.
War
• Fixed an issue where a War would not occur if the defending company had no members.
 • Fixed an issue where War cost was not refunded if the server was in maintenance mode during the Siege Window.
Expeditions
Fixed an issue that was preventing players from advancing past the glyph puzzle at the beginning of The Lazarus Instrumentality Expedition.
Expedition Orbs
• Fixed an issue where Mutated Expedition Tuning Orbs could only be purchased once per week, instead of once every three days as intended.
 • Garden of Genesis and Lazarus Instrumentality Expedition Tuning Orbs can now be purchased once per day, down from once every three days.
 • These changes will not affect orbs that are currently in cooldown from a recent purchase. However, all future purchases will reflect the new, shorter cooldown.
Input Buffering
• Fixed an issue where inputs buffered before a player was affected by a crowd control effect (stagger, stun, knockdown) would activate when the effect ended, instead of more recent inputs. Crowd control effects now clear the input buffer when they are first applied.
 • Fixed an issue where attempting to use an ability and then swapping weapons would incorrectly attempt to use the ability on the new weapon that shared the same hotkey.

Thanks for your support! We'll see you in Aeternum.

Heart of Madness Update Reveal

Greetings, Adventurers!

With the March version of the public test realm releasing soon, we wanted to share a first look at some of the content you’ll be able to experience in the upcoming PTR before it eventually releases into the main New World game.
Tempest’s Heart - The Myrkgard Expedition
This update will conclude the story of Isabella. The main story quest line picks up as you pursue Isabella back to Shattered Mountain, leading to an epic final showdown. Enter the Tempest’s Heart as you venture into a corrupted dimension of reality through the twisted capital city of Myrkgard. Discover the secrets of her past while you dive deeper into her corrupted mind.

The Tempest’s Heart is an endgame expedition for 5 players. Recommended for level 60 players with Gearscore 550 or above.
New Weapon: Blunderbuss
The Blunderbuss is a ranged weapon that offers high-mobility coupled with potent close-to-mid range damage. It’s the first weapon to scale on strength and intelligence, making it a good companion for bruiser or mage builds.

Adventurers will be able to progress through two weapon mastery trees, allowing the player to choose between two distinct playstyles.

The Containment tree is all about closing the gap and unloading hot lead into your enemy’s face.
Conversely, the Chaos tree focuses on keeping your distance and bombarding areas with explosive AoE damage.

Alongside the release of the Blunderbuss weapon itself, we’re also releasing a new Legendary Weapon Quest series. Upon reaching Level 60 and the maximum skill level with the new firearm, players should seek out Wang Tang Zhi in Ebonscale Reach settlement to start this epic endeavor.
New Experiences, Balance Updates & Bug Fixes
Alongside the storyline conclusion and the new Blunderbuss weapon, this update will include new encounters in the wild, impactful balance changes across a variety of weapons, and a huge swath of bug fixes.

We’ll have more information on the PTR release of this update soon - including areas we would love feedback on before releasing the full Heart of Madness update into the main New World servers. Stay tuned for our PTR announcement article with details on how you can get involved.

As always, thanks for your support. We’ll see you in Aeternum, Blunderbusses in-hand.

New World devs will focus on "bugs, bots, and balance" this month

Amazon Games has laid out its plans for New World in February. Now that the developers have completed the first world merger of the year, the team is focused on "bugs, bots, and balance". There are also teases of "more exciting content in the future".

The MMO's next update is currently on the Public Testing Realm - if you want to take a peep at Amazon Games is cooking up. The team is currently testing out changes to combat, PVE, Outpost Rush, and crafting. The big change to Outpost Rush focuses on scoring and rewards. Dealing damage now increases your score, and the number of points given for killing player-controlled enemies and AI foes has decreased. As for prizes, completing a match now rewards faction tokens, and Outpost Rush caches now contain two pieces of armour specific to the mode alongside a mode-exclusive weapon.

As for player combat, you're getting the ability to swap weapons while reacting, dodging, traversing, and using consumables. Using the action won't interrupt those moves, though keep in mind a one-second cooldown to "prevent instant weapon spamming" has been added.
