The best New World iron ore locations and how to get fae iron

Looking for New World fae iron? According to the new MMO game's lore, fae iron is iron "tinged with a dark, magical essence". It's an uncommon tier two metal used in refining and smelting. You can get fae iron in exactly the same way as regular iron: mine an iron vein with a pickaxe. There's a small chance that you'll receive fae iron instead of normal iron. However, this is exceedingly rare and without using modifiers to tip the scales in your favour, there's little chance you'll get one out of the blue.

According to the Brave New World fansite, you have zero chance to obtain fae iron from iron veins without boosting a modifier called 'mining luck'. Fortunately, there are several ways to boost your mining luck in New World, which we'll explain below.

If you're not looking for the coveted fae iron and instead want to know all the best iron ore locations so you can level up your trade skills, craft the best New World weapons, and perhaps make money at New World trading posts, we've got you covered. Here's everything you need to know about mining iron ore and fae iron in New World.

New World is still breaking gaming GPUs and it's not just Nvidia's RTX 3090

How to make money at New World trading posts

Want to know the best way of making money in New World? In MMOs such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, and Final Fantasy XIV, making vast sums of coin fast takes a bit of time and effort. While there is no way to create a massive pile of coins to swim in (like Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales), you can always buy a big ol' house and fill it with all sorts of fancy furniture.

New World houses are not the only thing you can buy with tons of cash. If you want the best New World weapons, you have to spend some coin on specific resources at any town's trading post - which are shops where players can sell their unwanted equipment and desirable resources to make a profit. There are a couple of ways to make a fortune in New World, and while they're both straightforward to execute, you also need to spend some time doing some rather mundane tasks.

Another way to obtain coins is from quests, so if you get bored of the more repetitive methods outlined below, you can always opt to finish tasks given to you by the townsfolk in each of the towns.

New World hits another player record as more EU servers come online

Hey, have you heard that New World is popular? Because it's been absurdly successful so far - and, honestly, with the queue times as they are, it's not like there's much else to talk about right now. New World has been particularly difficult to get into for players on EU servers, but Amazon has been rolling out additional worlds all day, as the game is reaching ever-bigger player counts.

Since launch, dozens of new worlds in the EU central region have come online, and judging by the unofficial stat trackers, it looks like queue times in that region are finally starting to drop off. Queue times have been an issue worldwide (and other regions have been getting expanded server lists, too), but EU players have been hit the hardest. For a brief time earlier today, there were more EU players in queue than in-game.

With more players flooding into the game, the Steam player count has reached a new concurrent peak of 734,496 - just under 30k more than the record set on launch day. New World is still ranking as the fifth-biggest Steam game of all time by concurrent player count, and it's within striking distance of the million-plus records set by Cyberpunk 2077, Dota 2, and CS:GO. (Who knows if PUBG's three million count will ever be topped.)

New World fishing - how to get fish oil

Want to know everything about fishing in New World? Fishing is one of many different trade skills in New World, and catching rare fish takes a lot of work. Sometimes a quest asks for you to catch certain types of fish. Of course, you could just buy them from the auction house, but as the famous saying goes - If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Teaching your character to fish opens up new possibilities, but it's more complicated than just casting a line and reeling in fish. The quality of your equipment makes rarer fish appear more frequently, and the types of bait you can attach to your fishing pole work differently depending on whether you fish near the sea, or from riverbanks and lakes.

So here is everything you need to know about fishing in New World, from how to craft better fishing poles, what each fishing pole perk does, how to get bait, and where to find fishing hotspots.

New World server list and streamer servers to join or avoid

Looking for the New World server list? There are a great deal of New World servers available at launch for North America East, North America West, Central Europe, Australia, and South America. Some of these servers have suggested languages, but otherwise they have no further focus - PvP, roleplay, or otherwise - so it can be a little confusing figuring out where to make your character.

If you're on the lookout for New World streamer servers, there are a fair few substantial communities that have already pledged their allegiance to particular servers. This fact may be important for you to consider when deciding on a New World server, as these servers could be imbalanced when it comes to New World PvP if thousands of people choose the same New World faction as their streamer of choice.

New World reached a peak player count of over 700,000 on launch day, and many players are facing substantial New World server queue times. Amazon has added several new servers since launch, and has offered free server transfers "in the next two weeks", which will allow you to move to "any available server" when it goes live. You can find up to date information on maintenance and downtime on the official server status page. Here are all the New World servers available.
