Huge New World Aeternum roadmap includes intriguing new seasonal worlds

It's safe to say that New World Aeternum, the enhanced relaunch of Amazon Games' MMORPG, has injected some new life into the game. Maybe not to the extent that we all hoped, but with its expansion to consoles and Steam numbers looking a bit healthier, it's certainly not been an entirely detrimental move. To further prove how dedicated to New World it is, Amazon has just dropped a chunky new roadmap that not only looks at what's to come in Season 7 but further into the future too.

New World Aeternum: Post-Launch Dev Update

Greeting, Adventurers!

Welcome to our first post-launch New World: Aeternum Dev Update! It’s been a very exciting past few weeks since the release of New World: Aeternum with so many new and returning players arriving on the island.

In today’s update, we’re going to walk through what to expect from the future of New World: Aeternum. We’ve been listening to players and we know how important it is for the community to be informed of and understand what is planned for the game. We’re excited to share a first look at what is coming down the road in the near term, but also, we wanted to be transparent about some of the exciting content that’s a little further out. We’ve heard you loud and clear and have been thinking hard about how we deliver updates and give more visibility into not only what the team is actively working on, but also what is in early development, and even some of our very early ideas that we’re exploring in the studio.

To that end, we are releasing a new roadmap format that we are calling a Living Roadmap. Our goal with the Living Roadmap is to keep our players informed as much as we can along the way, specifically covering three categories of feature development:
 • Next Season (short-term): What is coming in the next seasonal update.
 • In-Development (mid-term): What is in active development and will be coming in upcoming seasons. These items will not necessarily be available in the immediate next season, but within a season or two.
 • In-Exploration: Ideas the Dev team is discussing or exploring. These are features we’ve heard from players would be exciting for them, or that we just think would be good additions to the game. Some might move to in-development, some might fall off altogether if they are determined to not be feasible or are no-longer of interest to our players, but we want to show what we’re investigating here in the studio.

There is a lot of information here to digest, and we will keep refining this process as we go. We look forward to your thoughts!

We sat down with Scot, Dave V, Katy, Dan, and some other faces from the team to dive deep into Season 7. Introducing Seasonal Worlds, a dynamic new way to experience the game. The first Seasonal World will focus on PvP. There will also be a new Outpost Rush map preview, daily solo trials, and the comeback of popular seasonal events, and also talk more about what is shown in the new roadmap. Watch here and read more below!
Season 7
Get ready for an exciting new year with Season 7, launching in January 2025. It will introduce Seasonal Worlds starting with a PvP focused world, more daily solo trials, updates to Mutated Expeditions, and a preview for a new Outpost Rush map.
Seasonal World 1: PvP Focus
Seasonal Worlds are dynamic, limited-time servers designed to deliver unique gameplay experiences. The first of which features always-on PVP, special loot that drops on death, and unique items. Rewards and progression will carry over after the season ends, ensuring their efforts are never lost. Look forward to learning all about how this World will work in a future article.
New Outpost Rush (OPR) Map Preview
A new Outpost Rush map is coming, offering players a fresh battlefield to conquer and test their skills in this strategic PVP game mode. Outpost Rush is a team-based competition where players gather resources, capture objectives, and outmaneuver opponents in epic battles for dominance and rewards. This new map will have a preview weekend during Season 7, so keep an eye out for more details.
Mutated Expedition Upgrades
Unified Mutations will remove the need for multiple gear sets, add matchmaking for M3, and improve rewards for these challenging Expeditions.
Daily Solo Trials
Solo Trials provide an exciting opportunity for players to test their individual skill, strategy, and mastery in high-stakes battles against iconic bosses. In Season 7, three brand-new challenges take the spotlight: A Mother’s Dream featuring Empress Zhou, Tempest’s Mind starring Isabella, and Daichi Soto, offering fresh, thrilling encounters that push players to their limits.
Combat Balance Updates
Season 7 will bring balance updates, starting with some changes to reduce time to kill in PvP and adjustments to weapons like the blunderbuss and hatchet. More information will come as we get closer to release.
New Artifacts and Perks
Season 7 introduces eight brand-new artifacts to enhance gameplay and strategy, including seven powerful weapons and one unique accessory: an earring.
Seasonal Events
Events like Legacy of Crassus and Rabbit’s Revenge are making a return, offering new players a chance to experience these seasonal favorites. Certain events, like the Legacy of Crassus, will receive enhanced rewards beyond level 700. Expect additional details at a later date.
Looking Ahead: In Development Features
The Dev team is bringing fresh excitement to New World: Aeternum and is excited to share in-development features as part of our new Living Roadmap. These include more types of Seasonal Worlds, a revamped Invasion mode, new PvP modes, additional maps for existing modes, and endgame improvements such as expanded wars. We are excited to share that we are working on long-requested updates such as global storage and the Barbershop. The team is also working to up-level zones such as Reekwater and update reputation systems. The journey ahead promises to be unforgettable.
In Exploration: Big Content Additions
This section of the roadmap highlights early concepts and ideas that could shape New World: Aeternum’s future in exciting and unexpected ways. From new weapons, a new zone, and new PvE modes to a completely new trade skill, these potential additions aim to keep gameplay fresh and engaging. The team is also exploring new features like company halls with storage, a siege system, and unique exploration and collection systems, all designed to deepen the endgame and bring new dimensions to the New World: Aeternum experience.

Thanks for your support! We’ll see you in Aeternum.

Fight Turkulon for the Drumstick of Death

Greetings, Adventurers!

Dinner has never been so dangerous. Satisfy your hunger for carnage when Turkulon returns from November 20 through December 3. Hunt down the Feathered Avenger of Death and his "fowl army" to earn unique, event-specific items, including the Grand Gobbler War Hammer, Turkulon’s Juicy Calves Boots Skin, and Massive Turkey Legs. The new Drumstick of Death Flail Skin is also waiting to be served.
Rewards
Regular turkeys and Turkulon reward players with different loot. Use the Turkulon’s Claw Skinning Knife to "finish your food" for even more rewards. Each regular turkey has a 20% chance of dropping one.

Some items marked below have daily limits. These reset at 5 a.m. local time. For example, if a player grabs three Turkey’s Treasures at 4:58 a.m., they’ll be able to earn another at 5:01 a.m.
Regular Turkey Loot
Regular turkeys can be found scattered across the map. Players will likely spend more time skinning than fighting them.

Diamond Gypsum (20% Drop Chance)
 • Limit: 6 per day

Turkey’s Treasure (33% Drop Chance)
 • Limit: 3 per day
 • Contains coin

Turkulon’s Claw Skinning Knife (20% Drop Chance)

 • Minor damage boost against other beasts.
 • This item will no longer be available after the event.

Infused Turkey Ward Potion (15% Drop Chance)

 • Increases the chance of receiving each Turkulon drop by 5% for 5 minutes.
 • This item will no longer be available after the event.

Diamond Gypsum (20% Drop Chance)
 • Limit: 6 per day
Turkulon Drops
Turkulon can be found in specific locations throughout Everfall, Brightwood, Mourningdale, Restless Shore, Windsward, Monarch’s Bluffs, and Cutlass Keys. Team up with your friends, Faction, and fellow Adventurers to take down this level 66 open-world boss for the following rewards. (Note that players must deal a minimum amount of damage to receive rewards.)

Players are guaranteed to receive all of the rewards after killing Turkulon 16 times. For instance, if someone has yet to receive the Feast-O-Plenty Food Trophy after 15 kills, then Turkulon will drop it on his next death.

The Drumstick of Death Flail Skin (9% Drop Chance)
 • Limit: One per event

The Grand Gobbler War Hammer Skin (20% Drop Chance)
