The next Celtreos patch is live!

New Defender Pod, “Sentry”

A new power-up “Sentry” is now available in the Weaver Series (and custom arrays).  Sentry pods will occupy defensive positions near your ship and automatically fire a short-ranged laser at anything nearby.  You can acquire up to 5 Sentry pods.

New Boss Abilities

Several bosses can now fire a new type of weapon!  These larger, oval-shaped projectiles can be destroyed but they are more resistant to weapons than regular bullets.

Artwork and Animation Improvements

Several stage backgrounds and animation effects have been improved throughout the game.

The next Celtreos patch is live!

New Default Weapon “Beam”

The Weaver Series now has its own incredibly cool default weapon (also available in custom arrays)!  The Beam is a mostly-horizontal attack that adds more and more rays of energy as you power up, either over time or by collecting “+” power-ups.  This weapon is initially quite weak but is extremely powerful at maximum strength.  Also, it penetrates any type of barrier, is easy to aim and you effectively gain even more rays by using defenders like the Shadow.  Certain weapons fire default shots at the same time so you may want to try these weapons with Beam (or any other default weapon choice in a custom array) for some interesting combinations!

New Defender Pod, “Trailer”

This is similar to Shadow except it shoots backward instead of forward.  This pod is now part of the Plasma Series.  It is also available in custom arrays, and keep in mind that this allows you to shoot any default weapon backwards: Gun, Laser, Rocket, or Beam.

New Enemies

A new type of enemy ship now appears in two stages, Colony Evacuation and Last Stand.  These small vessels attack from behind, in groups, shooting lasers and dropping bombs.  Be careful!

Artwork and Animation Improvements

As usual, a lot of tweaks throughout the game, and this time you will notice it right at the beginning because even the Options Screen has a cool new background.

Music Updates

A couple of songs have had some minor improvements, and volume has been slightly adjusted to make songs more similar across stage transitions.

Standalone Soundtrack

A reminder, the soundtrack is now available separately on Steam!  See the main store page for “Celtreos” and look under “Content For This Game”.  The latest tweaks to the in-game soundtrack are also present in the standalone soundtrack.

The next Celtreos patch is live!

New Enemies

Several stages have new enemies, which are easily recognizable because they have a greenish-blue color.  Beware of their multi-way attacks and ability to evade!

New “Fragment” Items

Every stage now has 3 gold “fragment” items.  By themselves, these are worth nothing; you must find all three to see your reward, a massive cluster of bonus power-ups!  The exact set of power-ups is random: maybe you get a bunch of weapons, a bunch of defenses, lots of points, lots of extra lives or just a mixed bag.

Fragments do not always appear in the same place (though there are only a few possibilities in each stage).  They also vary by stage; they could appear close together or far apart.  Pay attention and don’t miss any!

New Weapon-Destroying Negative Item

A new type of red orb is out there: marked with an “X”, it will destroy your current weapon and reduce your default weapon’s power level to 1!

User Interface Enhancements

When tabbing between buttons in the main Options Screen or elsewhere in the game, keyboard focus is now combined for related buttons (such as “+”/“-” settings or the music play/next-song buttons).  This allows you to use the left and right arrows to easily change values using the keyboard, or use the A and B buttons to change values with a game controller.

Also, a subtle cool-down timer is now displayed in the bottom center of the screen whenever you use a wide-area effect such as Bomb, Lightning, Ray Burst or Time Warp, to remind you of the 5-second delay.

Artwork and Animation Improvements

As usual, a lot of tweaks throughout the game.  Several backgrounds, enemies and effects have been updated slightly to look cooler than before.

Standalone Soundtrack

A reminder, the soundtrack is now available separately on Steam!  See the main store page for “Celtreos” and look under “Content For This Game”.
