Pact

The etymology of the word witch is "one who knows"[1], so to become a witch, you had to have certain information. Due to the medieval shortcomings of the education system, obtaining education was problematic. It was believed that if a candidate for a scholar wanted to pass the session, she had to make a pact with the "devil". In exchange for minor erotic favors (devoting oneself to the devil, participating in orgies, kissing the tail), one could allegedly gain access to secret knowledge, mainly broadly understood magical arts[2]. Unfortunately, such practices do not work today. At least in my case.

An iconoclastic act

What if the devil wasn't at hand, or for some reason he didn't want to accept the devotion? Plan B with a bit of finesse. As it was believed in the vicinity of Kielce and Głogów, one had to climb the cross barefoot on Good Friday. Because - as it was believed in some places - one could become a witch "by rubbing your ass after the Passion of God"[3]. We don't know if this is still true. Let me know if it works.

By chance

However, the fate of a witch most often befell women who asked for the devil's grace. Often the path from a neighbor's milk turning sour to someone being called a witch was very short. Unfortunately, it usually ended with torture and the stake for the unlucky witch. And all this in the majesty of law and justice. You could say that such a woman was a witch for a very short time, but at least she was the only one with papers to prove it.

Priest Simulator: Vampire Show is waiting not so much for being finished, but for the right arrangement of stars and other events that will allow it to emerge from Early Access in full glory. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it means it's about money. There can only be two premieres, and only twice you get a chance for visibility, which can provide decent earnings. That's why we're waiting for synchronization. With what? I won't say it because of the NDA and because it's a surprise.

Booze Masters: Freezing Moonshine is already fully released, but it will be even more complete. In a few days we will release a patch that will improve various fucked up attractions, such as clumsy jumping, half-baked cutscenes or unfunny dialogues. JOKE, we won't correct the last one issue, because we love you precisely because we can make fun of you. And love is the most important thing. Top1. Right after the money from Priest.

Your Principal is waiting until I have the processing capacity to finish the cutscenes. There isn't as much to do as in previous games, but for now I want to finish another project. The one from the next paragraph.

Mercyful Flames: The Witches is the closest to release. The fresh, fragrant, bugged demo is already prepared and is just waiting for the official announcement of the premiere. Remember to react enthusiastically, because the game is quite sad. Welcome it with joy and encouragement.

We are porting Human Farm to Unreal Engine 5 because we can. This is a game with the greatest commercial potential, so it will be in development for many months, so that some grumpy person doesn't write a red review again because they clicked something wrong.

Mercyful Flames: The Witches is a dark documentary game based on the classic movie Häxan (1922) that delves into the world of devils and witches.

Its gameplay is similar to Dagon, focused on story and atmosphere. The narrator will guide you through the history of witchcraft enriched with contemporary knowledge.

It’s a cooperation with fellow priests from Asmodev (creators of highly acclaimed mockumentary games) who hit on this idea.

Hey, you gloomy bastards.

If you have played Dagon, you probably know that 21.37% of the game's charm lies in the details, i.e. hidden (in plain sight) interesting facts. I was afraid that such a meta-narrative would break the flow, but nothing could be further from the truth. If you are also a curious person or nosy person, you will be happy to know that Mercyful will also be rich in this type of collectibles. More: we are in a privileged position due to the fact that we are making a documentary game, where the plot plays a secondary role. And just like in documentaries that you may find in the true crime tab on Netflix, the trivia stuffing simply does the job.

Mercyful may not be an encyclopedia of black magic, but rather a fancy special issue of a history magazine. One that will not exhaust the topic, but will plant clues that you will be able to harvest on your own. For each interesting fact, we always provide the source, and - believe me - we put a lot of effort into research. We will not refer you to Wikipedia, nor will we stop at the magnificent books published by Polish Replika, a series that could be used to create a thousand Mercyfuls.
