Dev Diary: Storytime
Hey! It's been a while, so we thought we'd give you a small update on how's the development going and what we're working on right now!
[h3]Storytime:[/h3]
Story bits procedurally intertwined with combat are one of the more unique features of Bonfire, but they have been largely untouched since the Blood Bonds update. I started writing new scenes as I was waiting for some art assets, and then one thing led into another and now we're looking at double the narrative content in the next patch. Oh well.
It features the usual Bonfire brand of party banter, but -- as the game gets closer to its conclusion -- the scenes increasingly lead into more serious arcs, providing context and backstory to the world and its characters.
There's also a slew of new (and very challenging) story quests incoming.
[h3]Overall Progress:[/h3]
I'd say we've reached the midpoint development-wise. Most of the new gameplay elements are already implemented and tested, but they require artwork and some general polish. The story and quest are still in their early iterations. We also need to playtest everything more thoroughly once it's done, of course.
We'll try to give you another update in January with some preliminary release date.
