DevBlog 38: Update 1.7

Greetings Commanders,
With all the recent updates and improvements to the game we are proud to be a part of Steam’s Strategy Fest showcasing the best of strategy and tactical games currently out there.
To celebrate and give new commanders the free chance to test their RTS skills on the battlefield of Crossfire: Legion, we have a new Demo!



[h3]This Demo will run indefinitely for the foreseeable future and includes:[/h3]

Single-player Content
  • Campaign Act 1: Missions 1, 2 and 3 which will introduce you to our world and the beginnings of Black Lists story
  • Skirmish vs. A.I on all multiplayer maps for all your comp/A.I smashing desires with all factions and commanders being available to fight against
Multi-player content
  • Standard PvP Mode on all multiplayer maps, for head to head player combat
  • COOP skirmish, to set up custom games with your friends
  • Battlelines mode, to smash armies together with a total focus on their macro-management
  • Commander Cardinal, his special abilities and a set loadout of units for you to master
You’ll notice the demo exists in a separate server space aside from the main game to give new commanders a taste of this RTS before purchasing and diving into the main game with our veterans.

Bug Fixes
We’ve also been busy these summer months on more bug fixes, including those raised by the players. Thanks.

  • The Arachne's 'Spiders Web' ability no longer remains active after the unit is moved by Vulcan's 'Extraction' ability
  • The Arachne's "Spiders Web" ability no longer remains active after the unit is picked up by the Charon transport unit
  • The Arachne’s 'Spider Web' ability radius is now larger
  • The Arachne now deals friendly fire damage with its 'Spider Web' ability's non-tracking AoE projectiles
  • The Arachne’s 'Spider Web' ability cannot be cast outside of player's vision
  • However, the Arachne's 'Spider Web' ability deactivates after losing vision of the targeted area. This we will fix in the next update
  • The Imperator's Artillery Mode now deactivates after the unit is picked up by a transport unit
  • The Yeoman's "Lockdown" ability now deactivates after the unit is picked up by the Scepter transport unit
  • The Grenade Trooper's 'Deploy Launcher' ability now deactivates after the unit is picked up by a transport unit
  • The Shield Trooper's 'Defensive Stance' ability icon appears in the active abilities window when individual units are selected, not group select
  • The Hyperion's 'Saturation Bombing' ability no longer casts on all units after one order if multiple units are selected
  • The Lycan can no longer be targeted by the units abilities while it’s using its Jump ability
  • The Centipede can no longer apply the 'Paralyzing Shock' ability's movement speed slow effect to buildings
  • Units' and commanders' with healing abilities can no longer heal structures
  • Commander Warden's Forward Operations Base now attacks buildings if constructed up close to an enemy building
  • The Hyperion's 'Jump' ability now works if the ability is used near the ability's max range
  • The Hyperion now stops using its Saturation Bombing ability when the player issues no new orders
  • The Vulcan's healing aura has now the same radius as indicated
  • Commander Stalker's Mercenary units are now affected by researched infantry upgrades
  • A few infantry units have that previously had their range briefly increased by 4 at the start of each attack no longer do
  • Units can no longer uses any movement abilities while snared by the Siren's 'Singularity' ability
  • Airborne offensive units with the stealth capability no have a 'Hold Fire' ability


  • The harvest speed of 14 workers is no longer faster than the intended optimal of 10 workers
  • The New Horizon worker’s shield now correctly blocks status and ability effects
  • Players can now properly target the hostile starting corebase after it is spotted for the second time in a PvP game
  • The Black List's transport unit recruitment and research has now consistent placement in the Corebase U.I. compared with other factions
  • Players can now not research the Albatross's Cloak upgrade at Tier 1 of the Corebase


  • The Satyr's Deterioration VFX does not remain in the last spot the unit was seen before becoming invisible
  • The satyr deterioration VFX will no longer remain on the border of the war fog when the unit which has deterioration VFX applied to it while entering the fog of war
  • The Helios's 'Acquire Target' drone collision with the ground units has been fixed
  • Additional options now hide after the player scrolls through the list
  • The Construction tab no longer fails to load build order after completing a match
  • The friend list icon will now not appear on the auto match screen if the player clicks the menu icon then clicks the background by left clicking.
  • The result screen construction will not display the construction upgrade.
  • Rank name text no longer overlap in some languages the player profile menu
  • Borders of the loadout warnings shouldn’t now peer through the presets list
  • The Lobby chat cannot be activated in the settings menu or with the Friend List open
  • The Friend status now shows the correct player status
  • The Friends List can now be closed by clicking outside its borders or by [Esc] key
  • The Friends List button now fades in several situations
  • The Text size in the Accessibility tab no longer decreases after changing the language to Russian


  • Mission 6 will no longer be lost abnormally if the player only uses Imperators to get to the second checkpoint
  • The A.I. albatross transport unit will no longer unload all units into the air on Mission 11
  • The worker can now build the sentry turret after replaying mission 9’s second checkpoint
  • The defense VFX of the nodes on Mission 9 no longer disappears
  • The Titan is now transported towards the correct direction of the animation on the relevant campaign mission

DevBlog 37: Update 1.6

Greetings Commanders,
This month of development has focused on cleaning up shop and so we have an update for you that’s full of important balance changes and bug fixes. No new content today while we work towards a bigger content drop later this summer. Read on for all the technical fix details that come together for a better game experience.

The Arachne's Spider Web ability now has the appropriate intended falloff. In short, the further from the impact center, the less damage taken. The splash radius has been significantly lower to 3 from 15

  • Phalanx units controlled by the AI now enter Hull-Down when attacked and correctly deactivate Hull-Down when the attacker is out of range
  • The Jester's Repair ability now no longer remains active after the Jester gets picked up by a transport unit
  • The Silverfish’s ammo is now not reset if less than six projectiles are fired in a single burst
  • The Centipede no longer gains energy from attacking allied units/buildings
  • A damaged Black List watch tower will now gain full HP after upgrading
  • The Global Risk trooper’s deployable forward turret no longer remains from one Round Robin match to the next


  • Commander Freefall can now use her hack ability on turrets after restarting the first checkpoint during Campaign Mission 3
  • Workers now start PayLoad games correctly assigned to a materials resource node
  • Workers will no longer not harvest at the beginning of game
  • Workers no longer get stuck inside Resource Nodes after canceling a building order
  • The 'Repair Structure' ability of Worker units now has a consistent description
  • Post-game Combat Scores are now consistently calculated
  • Spectators can no longer take an A.I's place in the game lobby after the match ends
  • The description of the production buildings' upgrade button and the description of the current upgrade level are now consistent
  • Units can now no longer be dropped in the river by transport units in Campaign Mission 6
  • New Horizon’s Infantry 'Shield Transfer' ability now no longer remains active after the unit using it depletes its shields


  • When filtering by faction in the Army Menu, the player will no longer not see units until they scroll back up after already having scrolled to the bottom of the army list
  • Display settings now revert correctly when the user reverts the changed display settings repeatedly
  • Grammar errors corrected
  • Right Mouse Button can now be used to open a detailed unit view properly
  • Several unit icons are now correctly placed in the recruitment buildings' UI during Campaign missions
  • Vehicles are no longer spawning without some graphical details once high unit counts are reached
  • The Arachne UI icons now display that it can attack ground units
  • The text and audio now match in Chinese after Campaign mission 12 result log
  • The unit displays no longer show locked loadouts that can be used
  • The Black List Mechanized Facility explosion VFX no longer disappears while it is building and then canceled
  • UI display settings no longer revert incorrectly when the user reverts the changed display settings repeatedly


  • The player can no longer place buildings inside fuel nodes on several Payload maps
  • The player is now not able to build on the ramps in both bases within the Domination map
  • Building boundaries are now correctly set on the east and north sections of the Labyrinth map
  • Player base building areas are no longer so severely limited by map border on the Snow Base map

  • Black's List's supply depot can stealth to avoid detection, providing line of sight when built out in the battlefield.
  • New Horizon's supply depot can recharge their unit’s health and energy for abilities.
You can often use your core base to heal surrounding units.

DevBlog 36: Update 1.5

Greetings Commanders,

Today we want to expand the strategic depth of our roster system and give you greater deck building options. These changes are, as ever, based on community feedback and we’re confident they will please.


The roster system now has a total of 10 slots. One commander slot, and then three slots for each unit type category, infantry, vehicle/tank and air.

However, unlike the vehicle/tanks units, Infantry and Air rosters currently lack enough units to fill their 3rd slot. So, we will open that slot to all unused available units from the same unit type being selected.

So for example, if the player likes T1 infantry rather than the T2 option, they can now use that 3rd infantry slot to round out their roster. Same thing with the air units. Previously, you had a tough time deciding between the Falcon/Prion/Wasp. Now players will be able to have at least 2 of the available air units for their 3rd unit type slot.


Each faction's transport unit will now be available by default under the Corebase build menu. This affects Standard Versus, Skirmish, Payload, and Cooperative games modes. Battlelines and Brawl game modes do not need air transport to function, while Round Robin does not support slot loadouts and this game mode does not have a corebase, so we can exclude it.

  • The cutscenes now appear consistently during the campaign
  • Victory payload container has now a truck model in it
  • The player now gets experience from finishing the game
  • The screen now refreshes synchronously with the minimap
  • The player can now surrender in a 4 player game with 1 A.I.
  • The defeat screen will not disappear for the player who is defeated in a game which has over 2 teams
  • The game's host can promote another player to be host during the countdown screen
  • Optimal mineral gathering workers setup has been returned to 10/10
  • The A.I. will no longer become unresponsive if blocked from fulfilling a build order


  • The Locust no longer deals AoE damage only with its 'Final Surge' ability active
  • Chameleon's 'Liquefaction' ability now also slows allied units
  • The Scarab's 'Extra Firepower' ability no longer remains active after the Scarab has been picked up by a transport unit
  • The Paladin's Heal Infantry ability ends after the Paladin has been picked up by a transport unit
  • Rhino's 'Ghost Kit Ambush' ability no longer remains active after the unit has been picked up by a transport unit
  • The Stingray's Ghost Sphere ability no longer remains active while the Stingray is carried by a transport unit
  • The Phalanx's "Hull Down" ability no longer remains active after the unit is picked up by the Scepter transport unit
  • Researching the Fire Ant's Flame Injectors no longer lowers its range
  • Arachne do not detect units in stealth any longer
  • The Grenade trooper unit will no longer cancel its deploy launcher ability when the players press the A hotkey
  • Dragonfly demo video for its Improved Igniters ability now shows bonus structure damage
  • Condor's drones now deal AOE damage
  • The Hyperion Saturation Bombing ability animation will no longer trigger when the ability is not in range yet
  • Hyperion's 'Jump' ability can now be cast outside its range
  • The Chameleon's ability "Liquefaction" now works consistently on New Horizon units
  • Angel's Null Field ability no longer persists after the area of effect vanishes
  • Upgrading the Black List Watch Tower with “Fortification' no longer fully restores its HP in Standard Versus and Payload game modes
  • The Icarus' speed is now consistent with previous patch notes
  • The Pegasus basic attack cannot target air units and not be turned off by air targeting ability
  • Damage modifying abilities or effects now affect Global risk unit with Armor Plating
  • The Vulcan is no longer able to extract enemy units


  • The Payload no longer stalls at its destination before deploying on the Mountainside and Snowbase map
  • Hyperion gets stuck after jumping into a spot under a cistern located in the middle-right part of the Torrent map
  • Victory payload container has no truck model in it
  • On Operation Northside (COOP) the Ambassador Vehicle doesn’t get stuck after spawning a structure by using the Commander's abilities and units can no longer move outside the map bounds
  • The air units won’t clip with high objects on the Payload Badlands map
  • Flickering ground textures should not appear on the Torrent map and when the camera moves on Predator map
  • After completing campaign Mission 15 the credits are now displayed
  • Eclipse's 'Super Shot' ability is now correctly described during the Campaign
  • Building boundaries are now set correctly in the north section of the Mountainside map
  • Buildings can now be built on the ramps and invisible collisions no longer block unit pathing on the Torrent map
  • Z-fighting textures are no longer present on multiple spots of the 'Predator' map
  • The boundary of the Typhoon map is not misplaced and causing a blocked area for placing buildings
  • The player cannot place buildings inside fuel nodes on several Payload maps
  • Textures have been realigned with the collision boxes on the ramps of Frostbite map
  • The bridge on the Labyrinth map is no longer flipped to the side and transparent roadlines do not overlap
  • Base building boundaries are now set correctly in multiple sections of the map Badlands
  • Typhoon map boundaries are not misplaced anymore causing a blocked area marked as available for placing buildings
  • The player is now not able to construct buildings on the stairs on the top-right side of the Labyrinth map or construct a building inside a truck near the middle left side of the map
  • Some of the objects are no longer missing collisions on the Brawl map
  • The Payload path to point 2 on Badlands map is now the shortest possible
  • Traffic lights on the Labyrinth map are now positioned correctly
  • On Campaign Mission 5, one of the hints present during the first objective no longer has a spelling mistake
  • Factions' descriptions scale correctly in the recruitment tab for the Round Robin Game mode
  • Cavaliers now have the stealth detection ability on the Round Robin Game mode


  • The GR trooper animation displays normally when chosen by the player
  • Friends list members are now properly rendering their in game status
  • Punctuation is now consistent in the Spider Web ability unlock info prompt title within the Vehicle Assembly building
  • Hold Fire description scales properly if the player hovers over it while toggling it
  • Localized key control in the settings for FR/DE/ES/RU/PL/JA languages
  • Hovering over/clicking slot 4 after creating a Standard Versus lobby now shows the correct unit previews
  • Punctuation error is now fixed in the campaign mission 12 description
  • The Rhino unit 'Ghost Kit Ambush' HUD status icon is no longer displayed twice after the ability reaches max stacks
  • Missing defeat post screen on game lose has now been found
  • Cardinal's "Fire at Will" ability will not play its VFX after the ability has finished
  • Hightower's "Radar Scan" ability VFX no longer disappears when the player constructs more than one unit
  • Armory building is now properly attached to the Helicopter when being deployed
  • While in Campaign, Eclipse's 'Hull Down' ability description now has its information about movement restriction on the unit
  • Friend List UI typos have been fixed
  • The Lycan units description is now consistent with its 'Heavy Jump' upgrade's effects in game
  • Adding a friend in game will no longer present the the friends list from refreshing
  • Typo and grammar corrected in the description of campaign Mission 2, 4, 5 and 8
  • The Siren unit's "Eviscerate" ability's graphics and audio now play together when the affected target is in the fog of war
