Smart City Plan 1.09 Update

Smart City Plan update 1.09 is now available.

This update adds performance improvements, small graphics changes, minor bug fixes and a few gameplay adjustments. Details here:


  • [h2]Performance improvements[/h2]

    The game now runs on average about 25% faster on most systems - the rendering pipline has been optimized quite a bit.
    You can notice this easily if you zoom out over a large city: The framerate won't drop that much anymore. Also, the game now runs much smoother on very slow systems.

  • [h2]Adjusted graphics[/h2]
    A lot of minor changes to a lot of buildings and modules have been made. Your city might now look a bit different now after this update.
    Specifically, the ground for a lot of buildings - which was always concrete gray is now a bit changed for quite a few buildings.

  • Fixed a bug causing the Football Stadium not to be displayed sometimes when placed at unusual places

  • Adjusted the population growth for cities larger than 8000 slightly

  • Changed fire spreading algorithm a bit to be not that aggressive anymore



Please note that although this update makes the game engine faster, we are also working on a further performance improvement which will specifically target systems with large resolutions and/or older graphics drivers.

Smart City Plan 1.08 Update

Smart City Plan update 1.08 is now available.

This update adds oil power plants, earlier subways mod, real-time global water stats, and various improvements everywhere. Details here:
  • [h2]Oil Power Plant[/h2]

    There is now an oil power plant available in the game. It can be used as smaller alternative to the coal power plant: it unlocks at the same time, but costs much less,
    is smaller, a bit cleaner, but also provides less energy at a in relation larger upkeep cost.

  • [h2]Realtime global water stats[/h2]

    Corresponding to the Realtime Global Power Stats introduced in update 1.06, there is also now a stat showing you the amount of water water currently used and provided by your city.
    To see it, simply click on the "display mode" button and then on "water supply".

  • [h2]Earlier Subways[/h2]

    there is now a mod available named 'Earlier subway', when installed, making it possible to build subways much earlier. This was requested by many people, and so you can
    now build subways when you have a population of 9200 already, instead of the default 23000.

  • Various small improvements in the traffic routing algorithm, causing congestions to be solved sometimes earlier (or in a different way) and the simulation to be run a bit faster in very large cities

  • The mail notification sound has been replaced with a nicer version, reducing the stress experienced reported by some players quite a bit. Hope you like the new one better.

  • The mail filter button in the mail dialog now has a tooltip so that it can be found easier by new players

  • The mod button is now visible in the main menu next to the "Settings..." button so that it gets a bit more visibility.

  • Values in the realtime global power stats display are now aligned to the right so they can be compared more easily.


Please note that updates are currently a bit slowed down due to the COVID-19 lockdown, so this update doesn't include everything we planned for the first one.

Smart City Plan 1.07 Update

Smart City Plan update 1.07 is now available.

This update adds landmark buildings, continous building key, new shortcuts for gamespeed, various minor improvements and more. Details here:
  • [h2]New landmark buildings[/h2]


    There are now new landmark buildings to decorate your cities with:
    - Statue of Liberty
    - Eiffel Tower
    - Arc de Triomphe



    You can download these as mods in the game under Settings -> Mods -> Download.



  • [h2]Continous Building key[/h2]
    For most larger buildings such as schools, churches or structures such as bridges, you usually need to click again onto the toolset palette if you want to build more than one building.
    If you want to continue to place more buildings of the same kind, you can now just hold down SHIFT while clicking, and then build more.

  • [h2]New shortcuts for gamespeed[/h2]
    There are now a few keyboard shortcuts for setting the game speed:
    - Pause: Pauses and un-pauses the game
    - F6: Normal Speed
    - F7: Fast Speed
    - F8: Very Fast Speed

  • There is now a "disable autosave" mod available in the mod dialog.
    This is useful if you don't like your harddrive to do things every 3 minutes. The game still is being auto-saved then, but only if you switch from the game to the main menu.

  • The firetruck wasn't sometimes audible when driving to a fire. This has been fixed now.

  • Nicer seeded random number generator when creating a new patch of land when starting a new game.

  • Various minor improvements here and there




Please note that updates are currently a bit slowed down due to the COVID-19 lockdown, so this update doesn't include everything we planned for the first one. But we thought better release the updates in tiny steps than in slower ones.

Smart City Plan 1.06 Update

Smart City Plan update 1.06 is now available.

This update adds improved placing indicators, mail filters, realtime global power stats, adjustments to mods and more. Details here:
  • [h2]Mail filters[/h2]

    You can now define filters for mails you get in the game. For this, click the new button on the center right of the mail reader.
    There, you can select not to receive any notifications anymore, to reduce the noise. For example, you can decide to no longer receive a message if some buildings don't have water or power access anymore, or if your citizens demand a specific feature.

  • [h2]Improved placing indicators[/h2]

    When placing new police stations, hospitals or fire departments, other existing buildings of the same times are now highlighted, and the fire savety, crime or health rate are now displayed as overlay on the city, so that it is easier now to find the perfect spot for the building.

  • [h2]Realtime Global Power Stats[/h2]

    You can now view the current needed global power usage and power generation statistics. This is very useful for planning power plants ahead of time. Simply click on the "display mode" button and then on "power supply".

  • Mod changes
    The upkeep cost of the commercial center and the hotel resort have been reduced quite a bit.

  • Fixed a problem causing the initial window size to be set incorrectly on some systems

  • Fixed a problem causing income staying at 0$ when it is very small in the beginning and the expenses are similarly high
