BALANCE CHANGES AND BUG FIXES 9/24/2019

BALANCE CHANGES

Manta rays now should be easier to kill in the SWORD only run by deflecting bullets back at them. Previously it was really difficult to kill mantas unless you had the Fireball or stamina buddy. This new attack should bring up the difficulty against the mantas as well as provide more options for combat.
  • Porcupines can shoot quills in sword only run after a loop
I wanted to prevent porcupines from shooting in the sword only. But after doing a loop I'm going to re-add them back in to heighten the difficulty for the sword only run.


  • Speedrun chests have been reworked. After you exit a shop a separate timer will count down from 2:00 to 0:00 instead of checking to see if you're in minute 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 8:00, etc.


The advantage of this system is that if you have a rough start in the beginning and spend 12 minutes arriving at the first shop area it will not carry over to the other areas giving you a fresh start.

First area loop art change. New title theme will play.


FIXED BUGS
  • Boss health bars are now aligned properly.
  • Sword only run had a camera bug that locked your camera against the Red Reaper.
  • L1 The Thing seems to only go Red Reaper relative to L0 max health (so 1/3rd on loop)
  • Apples no longer fall into the sky while being attracted to you
  • Key pieces are outlined white to see easier


Look how hard it is to see the dropped key on the ground (not the hud). It was really easy to miss. So I put in a large white outline to make it easier to see in really dark areas.

  • Prevented Longsword the Sequel from appearing in the shop after selecting it.
  • Crash on the breaking boxes has been fixed
  • Stamina buddy eyes are now gone when you are interacting with shop items.
  • A camera bug that locked your Camera in the THING fight during sword only run.
  • Corpses will no longer spawn in midair in the sky level.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a sword swing on manta ray when doing a roll in Sword Only mode
  • Prevented Shops from displaying decimals based prices in loops.
  • Fixed a bug showing an incorrect amount of health in the Manta ray level.

  • Fixed the second dungeon music fading out when going down a new hole.
  • Prevented bullets from disappearing if you jump on top of them.
  • Fireballs count for combos, as well as stamina projectiles
  • SCREAM UPGRADE: When taking damage all the enemy hurt sounds will be on a delay based on how far they are.

LOOPING UPDATE

When you finish a run you will anger Don Jon so much that he will start cheating. He will start removing features that were designed to save you. He will send you back to the first dungeon and you'll start a LOOP. Everything has increased in difficulty and taking damage with enough loops may result in instant death.

When a Loop starts all bullets/fireballs will speed up by 10%.
Enemies wake up twice as fast.
All damage will deal half a heart more.

While in a loop you will not be able to survive damage that will kill you with 1/4 Heart remaining. You will just die.

Stamina cost for the ROLL will be increased from 2 to 3 on your first loop(but it will not exceed 3 even after doing multiple loops).
The theme of a loop is that mistakes will be a lot more punishing than before. A miss-used roll will result in a finished run.

Downgrade options will always be 1 when you are in a loop.

CLOAK and MANTA Ray HP Now scale-up in LOOPS.

Cloak's difficulty scales with each loop.
Mini-Manta ray's fireball speed increases based on your current loop.




BUG FIXES
Fixed a bug that would cause your boomerang to move so fast it was impossible to catch.
FIXED DRAGONS NOT BEING ABLE TO ATTACK WHILE THEY WERE ONSCREEN
FIXED STAMINA BUDDY NOT ABLE TO HIT MANTA RAYS
FIXED SWORD FIREBALL NOT HITTING THE MANTA RAYS
FIXED a glitch that caused you to start a loop on the JUMP State! You will now start in the ROLL STATE.
FIXED a glitch that caused the boomerang to move so fast that it was uncatchable.
Fixed a bug that caused the dragons to not attack while they were on screen.



GAMEPLAY CHANGES
Dragon boss: Lowered second phase fireball speed from 1.8 to 1.6
This will make it easier to dodge the fireballs considering they ricochet.

Experience needed for next level up formula has been reworked.
New EXP formula
EXP_NEEDED= round(5 * ((CURRENT_LEVEL+2)^4) / 5);

Added a minimalistic HUD option. Enable it by pressing F1 once

UPGRADE CHANGES
+1 Heart has been changed to 1/2 heart on level ups
+4 Stamina has been changed to +2 stamina

ADDED half heart to the shop.
Removed I HATE GRASS as an upgrade for the time being.
Removed -1 Stamina Cost to Roll upgrade.
Removed +1 Stamina when rolling into an enemy.
When the above upgrades combined players would be able to abuse the invincibility frames fo rolling and skip entire levels. These upgrades will be removed until further notice.
Lowered Derpy Dice luck modifier from 12% to 8%

Apple Shake: (DURING BOSS FIGHTS RESTORE 1/4 OF A HEART EVERY 15 SECONDS)
Made it one-time use (Only works for the upcoming boss fight)
Reduced its price from 950 to 750.
This particular upgrade was meant to help out new players take on boss fights, so a price reduction will help it be picked more for a player that might need it. But it will also not be able to be abused to consistently refuel your HP for multiple boss fights.

Shop has been reworked



NEW SHOP VIDEO

The shop has been reworked completely

Items will now appear on the ground with different color codes:

Half-off items are blue.

Orange-red is not a purchasable option.

Yellow is purchasable.

Talking to shopkeeper should always be because you want to, not because you HAVE to buy items from him. He will retain all of his lines as well as have custom text based upon what items you buy.
