Today's patch combines boomerang, longsword, and bullet run into a new game mode called BETA DUNGEON. To start a beta dungeon, just start a game with bullet run by hitting dungeon block so it says BETA DUNGEON.




Here is how I came with this decision to rework Bullet mode.

According to a lot of feedback the longsword was the funnest way to play Wally. The long sword, it's fast instant and allows you for aggressive and defensive options. For this reason I'm enabling longsword in the BETA DUNGEON. One thing I really want to add is diversity in playstyle to the max. In order to keep the pacing of the game fast I buffed all weapons so that their damage matches the speed of the boomerang or that of the sword run additionally you will now see the boomerang alongside that of the other buffed weapons who will be able to even outperform the boomerang and sword on the right enemies.

NEW WEAPONS
  1. SNIPER RIFLE
    Deals 3 damage per shot, has max range.
    This is the only hitscan weapon in wally to date.
    There is 0.4 SECOND interval between shot.
    It's instant, fast and it comes with it's own lazer sight.



  2. LIGHTNING SHOTGUN
    This deals 3 damage to all enemies around Wally. This is the only weapon that can shoot through walls. If you are in range, that enemy can die. 0.5 Second interval



  3. MINIGUN
    The fastest firing gun in the entire game. Shoots 3 bullets per shot at 0.05 Second interval in between shots. Each shot deals 0.15 damage. It also recoils you back.
  4. BOOMERANG
    Boomerang is now also going to be in the pool of weapons. It's treated just like any other weapon you have 100 boomerang throws before it breaks.

  5. WALL BUSTING BOMBS
    In the new beta dungeon, there will be caves in-accessible to you unless you find a way to destroy a wall. These bombs will do exactly that.


EXPLORATION
In the beta dungeon there will now be secret areas in the walls containing chests/potions/the shopkeeper.



SAD BACKPACK GUY
He can be found inside of the wall. If you are able to reach him you can hug him and give him 1 of your hearts. This will reduce your max hp by one heart. In return, he'll feel better and there will be a 50% chance he'll give you a golden apple or a random upgrade as a way to say thanks.


NEW ITEM THE MYSTERY POTION
Drinking this item will occur either a good or bad effect.
  1. Example of a good effect +1 Don Jon persuade options.
  2. Bad effect example: lose 1 Permanent Heart.


This potion can be found in chests.
NEW ENEMY: THE BEAR

NEW ENEMY: BEAR
Bear starts out passive, until you shoot the beehive off his head. This will explode into several bees that will start rushing B towards you. Bear will also rev himself up and fling himself towards your direction, Bear is the first enemy to have **knockback resistance**while he is sliding on your direction. If you don't roll out of the way, you're going to get hurt.


NEW MECHANIC: HAZARDS
These sawblades are the first non-enemy hazard we've ever included. They will cling onto the walls and will consistently move towards a direction.


BALANCE
  • Boomerang now costs 0 Stamina.
  • Removed enemies gaining 1 Hp after you defeat the dragon/cloak boss
  • Removed enemies gaining 8 hp after defeating manta ray boss.
  • Added enemies gain 2 hp after defeating manta ray boss.
  • Fire does not spread from bush to bush.
  • It made it easier to level up by reducing the amount of xp needed per level by 25%.
  • Increased attack interval for porcupines from 1 second in between attacking to 10 seconds.
  • Increased attack interval for purple sphere enemies from 1 second to 10 seconds
  • Beta dungeon Reduced dragon boss hp by 25%
  • Beta dungeon Reduced cloak boss hp by 25%
  • Beta dungeon every other level up will give you a random weapon and then an upgrade.
  • Dragon enemies now have 2 hp (from 3 hp)
  • Beta dungeon: Increased the drop rate of weapons from chests to 40%
  • Beta dungeon: Increased the drop rate of upgrades from chests to 20%
  • Beta dungeon: Don Jon's will only appear 50% of the time. Every time you go down there is a chance he appears or not.
  • *Dungeons will not increase in size the more floors you go down**
  • Spiders max speed has been reduced from 12 to 4
  • You will no longer lose ammo while there is a boss around.
  • Golden apples have been buffed so that they will always restore your hp to the max and then give you 1 golden heart (instead of 0.5)
  • Wally no longer does damage when he is sliding and has no health. Now you MUST kill something with your bullet/boomerang to while you slide to trigger second wind.
  • Turned boss health bars so that they're on all the time.
  • Shop deals have been buffed to 50% (from 25%)



GAME FEEL CHANGES
  • Hud has screenshake.
  • Added 3rd hud option allowing you to disable the speedrun timer unless you press F1 twice.
  • Added a border that interacts with all the guns around you.
  • Added a settings option allowing you to disable all border effects.
  • Added a settings option allowing you to see the boss transition.
  • Added a settings option allowing


UPGRADE CHANGES
  • added +1 Boomerang damage to beta dungeon
  • added +1 Sword damage to to beta dungeon
  • added +lightning range to beta dungeon
  • added +increase likelyhood of an item being discounted in the shop
  • added +incrased the discount percentage in shop areas.
  • added bomb boomerang to golden chest

  • Removed bomb boomerang from upgrade pool
  • Removed Big book of baddies since the effect is irrelevant now.
  • Removed -1 stamina cost to boomerang from upgrade pool




WEAPON CHANGES

  • All Bullets increase in speed based on your own movement speed
  • Fixed a bug causing a bullet to die if they hit a dead enemy during their "hit" animation.
  • Added faces to all the weapons (this will make them very cute)


STARTING GUN
Has had its ammo increased from 200 to 250;
Damage per bullet has increased from 0.5 to 0.8

SHOTGUN (SHOTTY)
An increased amount of bounces per bullet from 1 to 10 bounce per pellet.
Damage has been buffed from .4 damage per shot to .8
Firing speed has been reduced from 0.6 SEC to 0.5
Pellet count has been increased from 8 to 10

FIRE BOMBS THAT SHOOT IN 4 DIRECTIONS
Ammo count has decreased from 30 to 15
Removed its ability to destroy walls. (since now there are goodies in there)


4 WAY BULLETS BULLETS NOW STRAFE IN THE DIRECTION YOU ARE MOVING!
Meaning that if Wally is moving UP and you shoot to the right, the bullets will naturally start sliding up.
Damage has been increased from 0.4 to 0.7
Firing speed has been increased from 0.15 SEC to 0.1 SEC

DELAYED SHOTTY
Damage has been increased from 0.4 to 0.7 per bullet.
Firing speed has been lowered from 0.5 SEC to 0.3 SEC

BOUNCY BULLETS
Firing rate increased from 0.7 SEC to 0.3 SEC

ADDED A HUB!



Replaced the Main menu with a HUB

Added every single setting option to the pause menu.

The menu was pretty lackluster compared to the rest of the game, so I re-worked it. Everything is now interactable and you will be able to start playing as soon as you load up the game. I also added every single settings option to the pause menu in case you want to speed up changing your options.

Added a minimum size for the native mouse. (I saw that the mouse would disappear temporarily from people's screens, it seemed to be the size was so small that it was impossible to see so I added this fix to alleviate that)

Made the boomerang hitbox more consistent, making it a bit smaller

Prevented Derpy Dice from triggering a slippery slope.

temporary removed "COUNTER HIT" from hitting and clearing all enemies when you take damage.

when screen lockers (vortex enemy) are active made a much more noticeable effect when they lock your camera from moving.

Manta ray fight now has a maximum of 5 baby manta rays can exist in the room.

Updated the art of backpack guy.

Updated the ambience light so UI elements (such as your crosshair and the messages don't get affected by the light)

5 NEW WEAPONS HAVE BEEN ADDED!

    HIGHLIGHT Bullet mode has been reworked.

    Currently, you are able to only modify your bullet's properties slightly. We're going to take it a 10 steps farther!

    Every odd level, you will be presented with a weapon with its own unique playstyle.

    You will be able to switch between your starting bullet weapon or the new different weapon (maximum carrying capacity of two weapons right now).

    Here are all the new weapons that have been added.

  1. 4 way Bombs, throw a bomb that deals damage to everything to the left, top, right, and down. These deal a lot of damage to enemies and to yourself.

  2. Shotgun, deal maximum damage that anything that is close to you.

  3. Delayed shotgun. Shoot a regular bullet that then splits into a Shotgun blast. For when you need to deal a shotgun blast to a boss or an enemy that is too dangerous to shoot from close range.

  4. Bouncing Bullets. This bullet starts out small until it hits a wall, then it increases in size exponentially and it's ricochet's damage is able to one-shot most enemies.

  5. Four-way bullets. Deal the most amount of damage consistently close range, and midrange, but you can only shoot in four different directions.

  6. The default bullet currently will keep its ridiculous passive of being able to shoot faster when you have over 6 combos. The damage has been buffed to keep alongside the rest of the weapons.

Currently, I have allowed ALL upgrades into the bullet run right. As well as allowing chests a chance to spawn upgrades.

I'll come up with some more crazy passives all weapons in Next Update. Maybe in the future having the boomerang be picked up alongside the other weapons would be a fun addition. Please leave any feedback regarding the weapons please let us know in discord, please.

Gameplay Changes[
Bullets now come out of you instead of the Stamina Meter.
Picking up stamina drops in the bullet mode adds ammo to your weapons.
Camera lockers have a new hud effect to let you know when your camera is locked.
Ambient lighting has been lowered.
Boomerang return range starts out slower but racks up speed with each timed hit.
Increased boomerang timed hit range and updated the effect so it's more noticeable where the hitbox is.
Removed dragons from the second area.

BUG FIXES
Fixed a bug that prevented skeletons from firing offscreen AFTER you have woken them up.
Fixed a bug causing the manta ray bullets from showing the wrong bullet.
Fixed a bug that caused the mantas not taking damage from reflected bullets (this will make sword run a lot better)

Art
Updated shopkeeper guy so his backpack is more noticeable.

11/9/2019 THE LIGHTS ARE SUPER BEAUTIFUL NOW

HIGHLIGHTS Added better ambient lighting to Wally and the Fantastic Predators This uses GPU and can be toggled off in the GRAPHICAL OPTIONS menu. BUG FIXES
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to start in 1920x720.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the manta ray from being hit with bullets.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented stamina buddy's bullets from going outside of the stage.
  • Fixed a bug preventing stamina's bullets from going into the walls.
  • Fixed a bug preventing you from using the controller in the CHOOSE a NEW WEAPON wheel when you died.
  • Fixed the skeletons waking up offscreen attacking.
  • Fixed a bug causing the porcupine bombs to bounce infinitely after being hit.
Gameplay updates
  • Killing a baby Manta ray in the SWORD RUN will now spawn a deflected ball in the direction that you hit him by.
  • DPS hud option has been updated, it will now show you how much total damage you've done in the last second.
Toggable by pressing F1 twice in the Main game
  • Boomerang return speed has been increased by 1000%
I wanted to get some feedback as to how this new return speed feels. I originally wanted to increase it subtly after accumulating combos but I also figured I'd go crazy and figured might as well see how this feels first. Leaderboards Are Here

Highlights
  • Leaderboards have been added to Wally and the FANTASTIC PREDATORS! They can all be seen in discord.
  • This includes a leaderboard for every different type of run.
  • A daily sword speedrun, where the fastest time will be dictated based on how quickly you can reach the fifth floor.
  • All enemies have one health and you CANNOT lose health. When you take damage, you will instead have a 5 second time penalty added to your timer. Whoever can reach the fastest time have their time proudly displayed for all to see.
  • Daily Run and Daily twist have new changes.
  • Daily run is a boomerang only run. Whoever can reach the farthest floor will be shot up the ranks in the leaderboard. In case of a tie whoever was on fire the longest, will break the tiebreaker and if both players where on fire for the same amount, then whoever had the lowest time will determine the tie.
  • Daily twist follows all the rules as daily run except it is a BULLET mode only run with a special modifier put every day.



Gameplay

Music/SFX
  • The second and third dungeons now have new tracks. The OST is now available on Bandcamp, too!
  • The Foxlion’s theme has been improved.
  • The Wyrm’s theme has been improved.
  • The Manta Ray’s theme has been improved.
  • The level up track has been removed (will be used somewhere else).
  • New sound effect for boss death.


Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug in the shop room that caused combo indicator to go up before opening chests.
