Cavity Busters Devlog #2 - Utensils for digging
Lets dig! This week I implemented a new mechanic called digging.

Digging through walls is kinda like secret rooms from Binding of Isaac except you can dig through any wall that doesn't already have a room behind it. Digging costs one health and puts you into contact with harder enemies (weeny shaped enemies) then what you would normally encounter on the current level. Why would you want to put yourself in more danger? If you notice in the gif above, there are little island rooms on the mini map. Rooms that aren't connected to the main level. These CAN be special rooms that contain super powerful items or other goodies and secrets.
To go along with this new mechanic are two new upgrades.
First one is a Fork and Knife:

This gives you two free digs per level.
Second one is Tooth and Nail : (can you tell that I made these two upgrades within seconds of each other?)

This upgrade gives a slight damage increase as well as a very small chance for a wall to be dug through upon clearing a room.
Some ideas I have for new upgrades to go along with this mechanic is one that will increase the amount of island rooms that can be generated. Another gives super small stat increases for digging through rooms. The mechanic is young so it will evolve and change I'm sure.
Last but not least, I leave you with a tease of the final boss. You can't see the boss because his design isn't finished yet but you can see some of his attacks :)
