"Cхватил за пах на глазах у всех": Бывшая сотрудница Larian Studios заявила о домогательствах — вокруг студии сгущаются тучи

Принимавшая участие в создании RPG-хита Baldur's Gate 3 бывшая сотрудница Larian Studios Хэш Бандикут рассказала о домогательствах и нездоровой рабочей атмосфере в студии. Заявление прозвучало на фоне попыток отменить разработчиков после высказывания Свена Винке об использовании генеративного ИИ в производственном процессе.

Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian defends itself as fans react to generative AI use: 'I'm not entirely sure we are the ideal target for the level of scorn'

Larian CEO Swen Vincke said earlier this year that the Baldur's Gate 3 studio is using generative AI to automate certain prototyping tasks, such as creating mock levels for designers to work with before replacing them with handmade art. The comments didn't attract much notice at the time, but similar remarks in a new Bloomberg interview about Larian's next big RPG, Divinity, have kicked up a storm of complaints which the studio is now pushing back on...

Baldur's Gate 3's Neil Newbon isn't sure about a mocap Game Award, but he's got a great alternative

Clair Obsur: Expedition 33 is perhaps the most exciting gaming success story since Baldur's Gate 3. Brought to vibrant life by a small, double-A developer with a true vision and knack for storytelling, it may not have the same scope as Larian's epic, but Sandfall has etched itself into many a history book - including the Game Awards'. The most decorated RPG yet, it earned three nominees in the performance category: Ben Starr, eventual winner Jennifer English, and Charlie Cox, who implored fans to recognize his motion capture actor, Maxence Cazorla, instead. Cox's comments have bred the question of whether the Game Awards needs its own motion capture category. I ask Baldur's Gate 3 and Resident Evil alumni, Neil Newbon, for his take.

"F**k AI in performance," says Baldur's Gate 3's Neil Newbon: "it's dull as hell," and companies should "spread the wealth"

Neil Newbon's stance on AI is pretty clear. Earlier this year when the SAG-AFTRA videogame strike was at its peak, he formed the Pixel Pack: a collection of some of gaming's most prolific actors that includes everyone from heavy hitters like Troy Baker and Matt Mercer to newcomers like fellow Baldur's Gate 3 alumni Devora Wilde and 2025 Game Award winner Jennifer English. "Fuck AI in performance," he tells me, but despite the cuss word, he's dead serious - Neil Newbon isn't here to play.

Baldur's Gate 3 "rekindled many players' love for CRPGs," which Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader dev says is a blessing

It's easy to imagine rival developers as, well, rivals. Crossing their fingers for game-breaking bugs, checking Metacritic scores and slapping their knees in comic anger when another CRPG breaks the 90 barrier. The reality is very different. Many developers at different studios are friends and former colleagues, or they just want to see their corner of the games industry thrive. That's certainly the case with Owlcat Games, the team behind Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader. Owlcat brand manager Anton Emelyanov has recently gone on the record to say he admires Baldur's Gate 3 and the team at Larian, going as far as to say it has proved to the team that there's an audience for narrative-driven CRPGs.
