One of the best RPGs ever made is about to get even better, with Larian Studios announcing what looks to be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3 coming in 2025.

Been thinking you're done with Baldur's Gate 3? Well, Larian isn't done with you, as photo mode, cross-play, and 12 subclasses are coming in 2025

It's not like most people are ready to move on, but Baldur's Gate 3 is getting even more content next year, and it's the kind of stuff that will make most diehard fans roll an eleventh playthrough. Meanwhile, I've yet to finish my first one.

It's not like Baldur's Gate 3 really needed much in the way of improvement and additional content, but not satisfied with its GOTY-hoarding base game, Larian Studios has been bolstering the RPG with major content updates ever since launch. It has now revealed plans for BG3 Patch 8, the game's final update before the studio fully moves onto its next project, and quite rightfully, it's a big one. Photo mode, cross-play and a dozen new subclasses are all coming to Baldur's Gate 3.

When Larian said it was ready to "move on" from Baldur's Gate 3 back in March, rather than continue to work on an expansion that had started to morph into Baldur's Gate 4, I assumed that meant it would be winding down the updates, too. But since then we've seen a bunch of substantial patches, and we've just learned that another one is on its way.
