Baldur's Gate 3 News

Good news, Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox players, the update designed to fix those pesky save issues is finally here

Everybody celebrate! The Xbox firmware update designed to permanently fix the annoying save issues that’ve been plaguing Baldur's Gate 3 players on the platform is now available to download!

For those who haven’t been following this saga about unfortunate progress loss and lots of tweets from Larian/Microsoft gently saying that the two companies are working on putting an end to the unfortunate progress loss, it boils down to this - saves disappearing following crashes have been a thing on Xbox for a little while now. But hopefully not for any longer, assuming the promised fix that’s now arrived does its job.

Right on time (January 16), Xbox Support confirmed via a tweet: “An Xbox System Update will be rolling out from today to address the Save Game issue on Baldur's Gate 3. You can manually update your console via the Settings or it will roll out to your console within the next week.”

Baldur's Gate 3's latest hotfix stops Gale from leaving in a huff if you can't spare magical items every time

Hotfix 17 has arrived for Baldur's Gate 3 and the good news is that it contains a fix designed to stop everyone’s favourite member of the shadow wizard money gang - Gale - from deserting you forever if you’re unable to offer him a magical item every time he asks.

Yup, following a hotfix that addressed the item issue which was causing some players to end up with completely softlocked honour mode runs and looked to cause some unintended issues of its own with certain mods, Larian’s put Gale in its crosshairs. To be fair, the posh bastard probably needed taking down a peg.

As documented in the patch notes for Hotfix 17, following its installation: “Gale will no longer permanently leave the party if you don't offer him any magic items while talking to him – unless you're abundantly clear that you don't plan on ever doing so.” Praise Mistra, accidentally being ditched by the magic man is no more!
