Hasbro has made about $90 million by letting Larian make a D&D game

Wizards of the Coast parent company Hasbro announced lower-than-expected financial results today, but it did make good book on one front: The company said it's earned about $90 million dollars through its licensing deal with Larian for Baldur's Gate 3...

This week's Baldur's Gate 3 patch will fix its most annoying little party management inconvenience

The next big Baldur's Gate 3 patch is coming this week, and although its kissing-related changes are obviously the star, there's more to it than "improved smooches." Larian announced today that the patch will finally fix a party management inconvenience that I imagine near-universally prompted players to think "ugh, that's slightly annoying" an hour or two into the game...

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6 needs 150 GB, but fixes companions

Baldur's Gate 3 was one of the best games to come out last year, but it didn't launch without its fair share of technical issues. Its creator, Larian Studios, has been hard at work in the months since to iron out these bugs and add in new features, providing the same level of ongoing support that it brought to its past work, like the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Fallout inspired Divinity: Original Sin and its sequel.

Baldur's Gate 3's uber-hard honour mode has now been beaten in under 20 minutes, and I feel bad at video games

A Baldur's Gate 3 speedrunner has beaten the game’s formidably tough Honour mode in under 20 minutes, as part of a valiant crusade against the very idea of video games taking less time than it takes one of your grandparents to persuade their body to leave a comfy armchair.

Whether it’s managing to bed Lae’zel in a fashion that even one of Larian’s romance quest designers thinks is cool or finding a way to rapidly get it on with Halsin in bear form, if you aren’t familiar with BG3’s speedrunning community by now, I’m not quite sure what to say. That is, aside from the phrase ‘what this latest work of art and tell me how you feel about how crap you are at Larian’s RPG in comparison’.

Following on from fellow runner Chronos’s efforts to make everyone who’s tried the mode re-evaluate their talents, Mae’s casually become the first person to coast through it in less than twenty minutes. Their official time was 19 minutes and 32 seconds, a nice little improvement on the 21 minute and 17 second run they notched just a couple of weeks ago.

Baldur's Gate 3 is still beloved after more than 500,000 Steam reviews

After winning multiple Game of the Year awards, Baldur's Gate 3 has just hit another milestone on Steam, as the Larian RPG has over half a million user reviews. That's impressive in its own right, of course, but the DnD game is also holding incredibly strong in terms of the positivity in these reviews, illustrating once again how the CRPG has taken the industry by storm.
