Don’t forget to do one essential thing before booting up Baldur’s Gate 3 for the first time

The developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios, has taken to Twitter to explain why players cannot preload the gargantuan RPG ahead of release. In addition, it has also recommended that players delete the Early Access version of the game, their save files, and any mods before the RPG launches on August 3 (which is later today, for those of you keeping track).

Keen players have been able to dive into Baldur’s Gate 3 since it was released in Early Access on Steam, way back in October 2022. The full launch of the game, coming in hot in just a few hours' time, will be a whopping 122GB. And it cannot be preloaded.

“Unfortunately we’re unable to make Baldur’s Gate 3 available for pre-load — Steam doesn’t support pre-load for Early Access titles because switching to pre-load would break the game for people currently playing Early Access,” said developer, Larian Studios, over on Twitter.

How do you pick locks in Baldur's Gate 3? If you've come up against your first closed door or chest that requires lockpicking, you've got two options; the long-winded way is finding a key that fits, or, you can attempt to lockpick it, here's how.

This is a DnD game after all, so if you're attempting to open a door by lockpicking in BG3, you're going to need some luck in that roll of the dice. That, and high dexterity and Sleight of Hand. Forget bear sex, Baldur's Gate 3 is "big-budget horny"

One thing Baldur's Gate 3 really wants to get right is love, with plenty of opportunities for you and other characters to get flirty and dirty in the RPG game. Larian's been pushing the Baldur's Gate 3 romances hard up to the Baldur's Gate 3 release date, and now it appears that the infamous (or famous, depending on your disposition) bear sex scene might not be the horniest Baldur's Gate 3 gets. Baldur's Gate 3's narrator posts hilarious outtakes that tease just how thirsty the game might be

Baldur’s Gate 3 is right around the corner - comes out tomorrow, August 3rd - and everything we’ve learned about the mammoth RPG makes it sounds like an awfully horny romp. Of course, there’s the recently revealed hot villainess that had an entire corner of the internet making the same joke: “I can fix her.” There’s the fact that you can seduce a druid who’s in bear form - as in an actual bear, not the gay slang version of the word. And now, the voice actor behind Baldur’s Gate 3’s narrator has posted several outtakes, giving us gems such as “I’m a bard, I can fuck my way through any problem.” Have a listen here.

The release of Baldur’s Gate 3 is imminent, and if there’s a single star at the heart of Larian Studios new CRPG, it’s neither Minsc nor his size-defying hamster Boo, but the namesake city itself.
