Dev Blog #5
It's time for another dev blog!
Before we dive into what we have been up to, we'd like to formally introduce our amazing animator to you all! Say hello to...
Karly
"Hello!
My name is Karly. I am a Character & Creature Animator. I was a gymnast for many years before starting my career in Animation. I've always loved to study any art form related to movement and performance. It's even more fun to use these principles to imagine how mystical characters would move and behave. I am very excited to help bring these dragons to life."
Check out more of Karly's work here and now on to what we've been working on.
Acid Spitter Growth Stages!
Starting in the launch of our Genesis Update, hatchlings will no longer look like minature adults. Each dragon species will have an adorable baby stage that will slowly transform into the adult model as you grow. Below you can see the hatchling, juvenile, adult, and alpha stages of the Acid Spitter.

Players will start out as tiny, clumsy hatchlings and seamlessly grow to powerful adults.

Check out this time lapse video of the Acid Spitter's growth from hatchling to alpha!
Bringing the Acid Spitter to Life
The rig for the Acid Spitter is complete! As we predicted, we ran into a few hiccups in preparing our first custom model (which is why we started with a drake and not a winged dragon), but we are back on track!

In addition to the dragon model, the egg has also had some work done. Each egg will be unique to its species in design and size. Breaking points have been added for when the egg hatches.

Check out this proud Acidic Momma next to her hatchling and beautiful artichoke.. er.. I mean egg.

Now that the Acid Spitter is finished being prepared for animation, we have begun working on our next dragon model; the Shadow Scale!
