Cyberpunk 2077's director reckons pulling off something like Phantom Liberty again is "very achievable"

Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion was very good, so good in fact, that it ended up popping up in some GOTY debates despite being, you know, a DLC. That’s a pretty high bar to try and match, but the game’s director reckons that’s something that CD Projekt is definitely capable of.

Even if a few sneaky additions are still finding their way into the original game, a lot of the focus has begun to shift to its sequel, codenamed Project Orion, with work having kicked off in earnest at CD Projekt on that game earlier this year. We already knew that the studio has pretty high expectations for it, and Gabe Amatangelo seems to reckon it has a good chance of at least matching Phantom Liberty.

Speaking to Game File’s Stephen Totilo, Amatangelo - who became Cyberpunk 2077’s game director in May 2021 and therefore played a key role in its turnaround following a well-documented rocky release - said that he thinks pulling off something like Phantom Liberty again is “very achievable” for the studio. Why does he believe that?

A hidden picture of Cyberpunk 2077's devs has just been discovered in-game, naturally it's near a giant burger

Psst, did you know that the Cyberpunk 2077’s devs had added a fresh little secret to the game alongside one of its recent updates? Well, CD Projekt did just that, and to see it, you’ll have to get up close and personal with a giant burger.

While it’s fun knowing that work has kicked off at CD Projekt on the game’s highly-anticipated sequel, even if some of the studio’s other projects are still shrouded in mystery, it’s still going to be a good while until any of them arrive. So, you can hardly blame one player for having stumbled across this secret by (checks notes) taking in the views from atop a fast food joint.

The joint in question is Tom’s Diner, the eatery where you meet up with Takemura early on in the base game’s main story - you know, not long after all of that relic stuff goes down. As YouTuber Ian Ilano TV has spotted (thanks, GamesRadar), following the game’s big 2.1 update, if you clamber up on the roof of this fine establishment, you can encounter a fun little easter egg involving a picture of some CD Projekt devs.

Cyberpunk 2077's latest must-have mod lets you become an art collector, because mercs can be cultured too

If you’ve long believed that the one thing missing from Cyberpunk 2077 is the chance for V to embrace their true calling as an art snob, rather than just living in a flat full of scruffy Samurai posters, then you’re in luck thanks to a new mod.

While it’s fun knowing that work has kicked off at CD Projekt on the game’s highly-anticipated sequel, even if some of the studio’s other projects are still shrouded in mystery, it’s still going to be a good while until any of them arrive. So, in the meantime, searching Night City for pretty paintings to put up in your apartments seems like it’d be a nice hobby.

Artistic’ is a wonderfully simple name for a mod about collecting art, which is the latest work to come from prolific Cyberpunk modder Deceptious, who’s enlisted some help from a few real-life artists to bring their vision to life. What is that vision, you ask? Well, as they explain the mod’s description: “V can now choose, display, and enjoy art in their apartment(s)!”
