Perhaps attentive players will find that this little girl with a big backpack on her back is almost as tall as herself, and has appeared many times in our recent sharing. In the recently completed scene - workshop, Noli will also appear here. Taking this opportunity, today the designer Xiaoyun specifically asked the designer Zhou several questions about designing ideas to Noli——

Q1: When portraying the character of Noli, did you focus on certain points?
A2: Noli is not easy to portray, because most people nowadays don't like naughty kids and find they are very annoying. So the key point in portraying Noli is to grasp the scale of "naughty". It is necessary to show a girl who is lively, energetic, and always planning to do some prank, but not to overdo it. To give her a reliable and pleasing side, and to give her a reason for being naughty. It is not for the sake of being naughty, but out of the alchemist’s thirst for knowledge, and that's why there will always be accidents in the process of exploring new things, etc. .

Q2: Noli's image is very cute. Will this give you any inspiration in the design process?
A2: To be precise, there was Noli's character design first, and then the character image. However, the image of the character drawn by the art design is almost the same as I imagined in my heart. The small body is carrying a large backpack, full of props that will be used for experiment (prank), especially the frog on the head is very funny, it shows an appearance that survived the Big Bang in the laboratory.

Q3: If you use three words to describe Noli, which three will it be?
A3: Lively, naughty, and smart.

Q4: In the future, what role will Noli play in the plot?
A4: Noli is the best alchemist in the Black Guards Academy. Although she always explodes the laboratory, she has discovered many important items in the future through failure after failure. In the plot, she will be the backing of the Black Guards, using her alchemy technology to discover secrets that are hard for ordinary people to detect, and of course she will become one of the villains most hated and most want to get rid of.

Q5: What is the marker of Noli?
A5: Noli’s marker is her big backpack, which is filled with snacks, alchemy props, and pots of potions. Don’t think of her as a little girl who can only rely on others for protection. You will never know that the things that she took out of her bag was a lollipop...or a potent potion that could explode a cloud of mushrooms.

Q6: The alchemist seems to be a mysterious and unsmiling character in Western fantasy works. Is it to create a contrast effect for a "Naught kid" like Noli to become such a character?
A6: Yes, the image of the knowledgeable, tall, thin, and unsmiling alchemist is too common. It is difficult to make any new tricks in that image, so I just took another contrast and created a new one. The appearance is a kid, but the knowledge is more profound than anyone else's, this will appear more interesting.

Q7: Have you ever wondered what Noli will look like when she grows up, and who is she more like in the current haracters?
A7: Noli will be a person who always has a childlike innocence, always keeps the thirst for knowledge and exploration. When she grows up, she may be more mature in appearance and figure, but the simple and innocent heart will not change, as always, lively and energetic, maybe will become the girlish version of Brahindo.

[On Developing] WAIT! An idle game with ARPG gameplay mode?!

Hello everyone, the third test of the game is expected to start in mid-to-late December.

In the last test, our new rougelike gameplay The Endless Corridor was well received by most players. However, due to lack of time and manpower, the protagonist's melee action system has not been optimized too much, and it can only be said to be unsatisfactory in the end. After self-examination and a consistent discussion, we felt that the melee experience was not good.

So after the test ended, we collected suggestions from players and optimized the protagonist’s melee actions. After studying many ARPGs, we redesigned the protagonist’s melee action, and adjusted the combat logic and system. Let's see the results!

The original melee system has a simple combat logic, which can only be moved by the left click, and the player can only attack automatically after engaging the monster, so there is no sense of operation. Therefore, after the redesign, the new melee system abandoned the original method that could only be controlled by the mouse click. The basic operation modes is now use WASD to control direction, click "Space" to dash, and click left mouse to do melee attack, which makes the current melee more operational, and at the same time allows players to play more fun. In the future, we will optimize the sound effects of the attack and design the corresponding skill perk to enrich the melee system.

But here comes the problem. As a idle game, this combat system of the protagonist should only be placed in the battle of The Endless Corridor. The main gameplay is still idle. Whether to expand this gameplay requires more consideration. After all, if we dig deeper, it seems that this system can be developed as a part of our next game...

[Designer Talk] Scarlett iteration! What were we thinking during the designing?

As a character that has been existed in our game for a long time, Scarlett is believed to have been well known to players. Recently, our art team have done an iterative upgrade for her drawings. Therefore, taking this opportunity, the designer Xiaoyun deliberately asked the designer Zhou (Scarlet’s backstory writer) a few questions about creative ideas, let’s take a look——

Q1. When designing this character, is the character background design based on drawings or vice versa?
A1. Because the plot system only started to develop this year, so the design of Scarlett’s character was first drawn by the art team. Then, according to the image and style of the artwork to write the character background. That's how this half-elf girl been created.

Q2. When designing the character, how to associate her with other characters?
A2. From the perspective of personality, Scarlett is a girl with a silent personality, so the relationship with other characters is based on "silent" as the starting point, and is divided into two directions: One is the "different personality", such as the outgoing Husilotti, who is completely opposite to Scarlett. She brought Scarlett into the academy with her enthusiasm, and the two became good friends with very different personalities but very tacit understanding. The other is "same personality". People with the same personality tend to attract each other. The taciturn Scarlett always enters and exits the academy with those who are equally taciturn, such as Vina and Fitch. These three girls who do not like to talk are often been dubbed by people as "autistic trio".

Q3. When designing the background story, will it interact with the character's skill design?
A3. Of course! The skill story and the background story are definitely related. If the character is a good sniper shooter in the background story, but adds a charge skill to him in the skill design, it will seem very unreasonable.
The same is true for Scarlett. Her silent character and superb fighting skills are easily reminiscent of "Assassins", and the design of skills is based on this as a starting point. Therefore, we build her as an assassin who swiftly shuttles through the battlefield and kills the enemies invisibly.

Q4. During designing, will there be cases of repeatedly overhauled or completely reworked?
A4. Well, this situation is relatively rare. Repeatedly overhauled will cause the previous work to be wasted, so we will try our best to consider it in the early setting.
Of course, overhaul is not completely avoidable. If sometimes there is a mistake in the character design, or because of designing changes of other parts, the details of the black guard needs to be changed at the same time, we will rewrite the text.

Q5. As a novel creator who insists on writing works, is there any similarity between Scarlett and the female characters you created before? What are the similarities?
A5. I have always liked the character of speak less and do more. In traditional works, the image of female characters is mostly weak and be protected, but this kind of shaping will bring stereotypes, so I don't like it very much. When designing female characters, I try to blur their gender boundaries as much as possible. The traits of strong men will also be reflected in them.

Q6. If you use a concrete image to summarize Scarlett, what is it?
A6. A lone star. It is covered by the brilliant sunlight during the day, but as long as the sun sets and darkness falls, you will find it hanging high in the sky, even if it is not so conspicuous, it is always emitting its own light.

Q7. We often say that people are a combination of contradictions. When creating Scarlett’s story, what's her opposite parts of duality?
A7. The seemingly indifferent appearance, and a heart loyal to partners. Scarlett’s growth environment was not good. She was born in a family of merchants who believed in the supremacy of money, and the education she received from an early age made her feel that everything in the world can be clearly marked. After becoming the Black Guard, the fighting side by side among her comrades gradually changed her mind. Although her personality was still silent, and she speaks less, she also had a partner that she could trust from her heart.

Q8. Has Scarlett’s personal story been iterated before? What contents were still retained during the iteration?
A8. In the original setting, she was a purebred elf, which can be seen directly from her elf ears. But it was later discovered that the pure wizard design would reduce some possible plot conflicts. So she was set to be a half-elf with half-human blood and half-elf blood, just like her complex personality.

Hello everyone, almost 2 months have passed since our second test ended, and our third test is expected to start in early December. (Of course there is also the possibility of postponement)

In order to let everyone know about our work during this period (and also to let everyone know that if there is a postponement happen, it has some reasons!). System Update

New Gem Socket System. Now, commander can collect “Blackstone” to place them into a socket of the gear to enchant a special ability. (More items to collect and more ways to customize your gears!)

The Blackstone system is still being optimized, and we are trying to create a deep enchantment system similar to Runewords.

The Bond System has optimized. New single character scene has added, where commanders can contact specific black guards, give gifts, interact, and view the images and information of the black guard.

Optimized the melee action and battle logic of the protagonist during the Battle of Endless Corridor. Now commanders can raid the Endless Corridor more smoothly!

[Designer Talk] When designing The Verdant Ranger, what were we thinking?



Hi everyone, I'm Xiaoyun. During this period of time, I worked with the art staff to remake The Verdant Ranger. Thanks to the wonderful drawing of art stuff, I have a lot of inspiration to rewrite her character background story.

[h2]【Design】[/h2]
According to Zhou, one of our designers, if we use a specific symbol to summarize the personality of Kieyanna, it should be the green of the forest.

At a time when the urbanization process is constantly moving forward, and it is difficult to turn back, more and more people are pouring into the city. At the same time, more and more small towns are actively following the pace of history and constantly changing their own style. Among those who flock to the city, most of them are young people who are full of infinite yearning for the future.

However, in remote areas surrounded by nature, there are fewer and fewer young people. The young people's long journey took away the vitality of the small town, and the vast nature behind it just watched all this quietly and silently in the deep emerald green. As for nature, it has "naturally" become a common symbol in the minds of people living in cities—mysterious, romantic, and remote.

It may be a kind of welcome relief that people who live in the city will choose-or a destination of a short trip during a holiday, or a departure point of an adventure in the game world, where you meet the elves. That quiet and deep emerald green always carries people's imagination of one kind or another in the boundless time. It is a stage loved by various literary and artistic works and entrusted with imagination. But it is not the whole of life after all.

In such an opposition between nature and urbanization, we are determined to create a natural child who was born in the forest and loves this land. This is not only to give the depth of this opposition, but also to continue in our game the type of role that the predecessors of the game industry often designed in the Western fantasy works-the archer in the forest. Therefore, Kieyanna was born.

Combining this idea, in Kieyanna's latest drawing, there are design elements of wolf head and starry sky. An archer girl in green, with a bright red cloak, that can run miles with the wolf king in the forest. When she ran, the red cloak swaying with the wind, meandering the starlight.
In the twinkling starlight, her story begins here——



[h2]【Past】[/h2]

The earliest memory of this girl is the quiet night sky full of stars. She doesn’t know who her parents are, but it may not matter. She grew up on her own in the Monteverde Forest, where she lived and walked freely among the shaded forests, racing with cheetahs, swimming with butterfly fish, drinking and singing with the beasts who were feasting, and learned Elf's language in their settlement. With all these, she never felt lonely.

However, when the girl was 12 years old, misfortunes came quietly. In order to expand the territory, an imperial noble lord led an army to Monteverde Forest. They razed the former green forest to the ground, hunted and killed animals wantonly, and drove out all the natives living here.

The young girl lost her home, and also separated with her friends in the forest. She spent a long wandering life. In the end, she came to Arkrance, the city behind the great wall. And recalled the story about Black Tide that she had heard from the Elf Elder.

The girl didn't have the idea of becoming a black guard at first, but just wandered aimlessly in Arkrance... Until one day, she saw the exploration team returning from the god abandoned land. The way the injured black guards supported each other and encouraged each other, reminded her of the once-dependent partner in the forest, and her desire for home was rekindled in her heart.

In the end, the girl passed the selection with amazing archery, drank the holy blood and successfully awakened, becoming a black guard.

In the Black Guards roster, the girl writes her name "Kieyanna". It's an Elvish phrase, which means-step out of the past and start again.

As for the story of Kieyanna coming to the academy and becoming a member of the Black Guard, I won’t reveal it here, please find out by yourself in the game~
