Hello, Gunsmiths!
First of all,
we would like to thank you for your presence and support. Working on the game is a very long and hard process, but your support gives us great motivation to continue!
You're probably curious what we're up to and how work on the game is progressing. That's why today we come to you with another,
third devlog, in which we will introduce you to some of the gunsmithing works that you will meet in our workshop.
Ok, so let's start at the beginning. The basis for working with guns is to take them apart. This will allow you to assess the degree of dirt, rust and damage to the various parts of the weapon.
SANDBLASTING
If we have done this, we can move on to cleaning the weapon. We can do it with a simple rag or we can go a step further and use a more advanced option -
using the sandblasting process. As you know sandblasting is a technological process which consists in cleaning or shaping a surface with an abrasive material in a stream of compressed air or liquid. This is somewhat similar to sanding, except that the cleaned surface is more even and gets the roughness required for painting and there are no problems with cleaning hard-to-reach corners or curves. It’s worth mentioning, however, that while sandblasting is a quick way to do it, it is not suitable for precision mechanism parts or antiques in general.
So let's take a look at what this process will look like in our workshop. You will be able to use sandblasting cabinet for it. Just put the parts you want in there and go. Below you will find the video of this process.

BLUING
In addition to rust, the old oxidation is also removed, because it's rusty and is no longer even.
Ok, now a few words about
bluing. It’s the process of coating the surface of metals with a thin layer of their oxides. This activity is intended to provide protection against corrosion, but is also done for decoration. Now we will show you how bluing will work in our game.
We have a table with four tanks. Looking from the top, the following tanks are located here:
- Caustic Soap Tank,
- Cold Water Rinse Tank,
- Bluing Salts Tank,
- Hot Water Rinse tank.
First you have to turn on the heating. Then you must clean parts in caustic soap solution, rinse in cold water, oxidate in the bluing tank and again rinse in cold water. At the very end you have to rinse parts in hot water and voila - oxidation finished. Now you can take out blued parts.

Don't worry, even if you haven't memorized the order in which you dip the parts into the tanks, it's okay. The game will tell you in which tank to place the metal gun parts.
That's more or less how it will all look in our game.
Let us know how you like it and write what your experiences are with sandblasting and bluing parts. We would love to read it!
And more news from our game coming soon!
Stay tuned!
