DEVLOG #65 - Changes

Firstly, you deserve an explanation and an apology. Unfortunately, we did not meet the deadline for publishing the current devlog as we initially expected. This fact may have saddened many of you because we know that you are eagerly waiting for any further information about Chornobyl Liquidators.

However, as they say, what goes up, must come down. And the reason for our delay is both trivial and positive. It was simply difficult for us to find time to write these few words. There's so much going on here. The project has entered its final phase and work on it is speeding along, like the Soviet Soyuz in Earth's orbit. Chornobyl Liquidators, taking their final shape, began to transform from an ugly duckling into a beautiful and majestic swan. We know how much you count on us, that's why we try to refine every, even the smallest, part of the game down to the smallest detail. Although we don't want to brag about the gameplay (so as not to spoil your fun), we are posting a few screenshots showing changes in levels and graphics tweaked by our developers. Grab it and write in the comments what you think about the final look of our locations.

PS In response to your questions - the screenshots were taken after level optimization, so you don't have to worry about performance issues problems ;-)

DEVLOG #64 - PGA aftermath

Hi,
Some time has passed since our visit to the largest gaming fair in Poland, and we have not yet had time to share with you the great news resulting from our participation in PGA. Here I hasten to explain that our delay is not due to ignorance, but to the amount of work that fell on us like radioactive fallout on the Red Forest. And this is, of course, good news, because the project has entered its final phase and our team is rushing forward, like General Pikalov's BRDM. But that's not all, because our participation in the Poznan Game Arena turned out to be a success that none of us could have expected.

Namely, the interest in our stand exceeded our wildest expectations, and the queue to the Chornobyl Liquidators stand did not decrease during all three days of the fair. It is said that only one other game enjoyed so much interest - a game whose action also takes place in the Zone and refers to Chornobyl (if you know what I mean) ;-) Our success was noticed and appreciated by the organizers, who honored us with the prestigious PGA Awards 2023 Best Indie Booth statuette! However, for us, the greatest reward was the enormous interest that you - the players - showed in us during this event.

But PGA is not only about meetings and long conversations with players, but also about establishing new relations within the industry. Here again, we can boast of several successes, such as establishing direct contacts with the GSC team, exchanging industry experiences with other gaming industry representatives and establishing contacts with many external companies.

So you can say that it was a very successful event. Next week we will show you how work on the project is progressing!

DEVLOG #63 - PGA

The next edition of one of the most important gaming events in Poland - Poznań Game Arena - is fast approaching. Due to the fact that work on Chornobyl Liquidators is already entering the final stage, we decided to take part in the event and start promoting our game. Therefore, we would like to cordially invite you to visit our stand, which we hope will be quite a surprise for you. We will let you touch history! Literally! We can't reveal too much, but playing the demo of our latest version of the game will take place in circumstances that will take the immersion to a new, unprecedented level. Can't wait to meet all of you. We’re waiting from October 6 to 8 in Poznań!!!

DEVLOG #62 - The weight of history

As you may have already noticed, our project has undergone many changes recently. We've managed to significantly improve the mechanics, we've expanded the gameplay with new elements, and we've also ensured that the historical and factual compatibility of the world presented is maintained. What we have not mentioned so far is the fact that extensive work on the game's storyline has been going on in parallel. This is because we decided to create an elaborate, poignant story depicting the dramas of people caught up in events that would go down in the annals of history in an infamous way. Often against their will, placed in unfriendly circumstances, they had to make decisions that would affect the fate of many people. Choices affecting those closest to them and those they did not know at all. Situations from which there is no good way out, each with dire consequences. All this fell on the unwitting participants of those events, crushing their consciences. With the benefit of hindsight, it is easy for us contemporaries to pass judgement and evaluate the behaviour of others. However, we must ask ourselves, how would we have behaved in such extreme situations? Would we have carried the burden of the decision? Would we be able to look ourselves in the eye years later?

When creating the storyline of Chornobyl Liquidators, we decided to give players the opportunity to make moral choices, which are also storyline choices. For each of them will be reflected in the storyline. Each will have an effect. These choices will affect the story to a greater or lesser degree, but you can be sure that each of them will be a Conrad-like choice. None of the decisions will be easy and will leave a scar in the players' hearts. Ultimately, the sum of our decisions will lead to one of many endings, none of which will be unequivocally bad or good. Instead, each will be bittersweet... like life.
