Development News: Luminous Glow of Blazing Mushrooms

Hi everyone,
As we mentioned briefly last week, we were working on a new kind of skill check called “Investigate cautiously”. We iterated on that and came up with a solution that we can integrate it to the existing incidents. There are lots of incidents like “Collapsed Golem” or “Ancient Battlefield” that our hero has only 2 options to interact with: investigate or leave. “Investigate” sends our hero to battlemap and “Leave” exits the incident. Now our hero will have the opportunity to “Investigate cautiously” and extract some intel about the battle before he commits to it.

Now these incidents will have 3 options:
“Draw your weapon and proceed!” – sends hero to the battlemap.
“Investigate cautiously (Thievery 55%)” – checks for information about the enemies.
“Leave” – exits incident.

“Investigate cautiously” skill check will use thievery skill. If successful, hero will learn the type and number of enemies. He will also have an opportunity of a surprise attack. Surprise attack will give +10 to all attacks for 5 turns at the start of the battle.

If skill check is unsuccessful, it will mean that the hero made too much noise and enemies became aware of his presence. They won’t call for back up but they will attack and hero will have no choice but to fight.
If hero fails critically (meaning rolling 1-5 on a 100) enemies will not only attack but also call for back up.

Another improvement is about flavor texts of these incidents. Or maybe we should say lack of flavor texts. They were usually very bland. We improved them too. Check below one example:

Old one: “You found the ruins of an old castle. Do you want to investigate?”
New one: “As you wander the untamed wilderness, you stumbled upon the remnants of a once majestic castle, now reduced to a haunting shell of its former glory.”



Here is another example:
Old one: “You have come to a place full of mushrooms. Do you want to investigate?”
New one: "You came to a wondrous place where the luminous glow of blazing mushrooms illuminates the path before you."

Development News: Do You Possess the Courage to Lay Thy Hands Upon This Blade?

Hi everyone,
Following the cooking update, we worked on another long time wanted feature: inventory sorting. With the latest updates, the ingredients and raw food that our hero collects increased dramatically so this feature became a priority.

In the next update there will be a button that sorts the inventory according to item type, first potions than food etc. Every page of the inventory will be sorted separately.



We also worked on some new overworld incidents. One of them is the “Sword in the Stone” incident. Hero must persuade the ethereal defender of the sword that he is brave and worthy enough to wield it. If he succeeds certain skill checks, he may get the sword without fighting. It is a magical sword with one suffix or prefix. If hero’s one handed skill is more than his two-handed skill, he will get a one-handed sword and vice versa.

Another incident is about cultists conducting a ritual under an unearthly statue. There is a new kind of thievery skill check on this incident which is “Investigate Cautiously”. If this skill check succeeds, hero will face less enemies and learn how many there are in the battle map before commiting to battle. But if he fails, it will mean that he made too much noise and the enemies called for back up. So he will need to fight more enemies. This skill check makes thievery more important in the game and we are looking for ways to integrate it to some existing incidents too.



After the battle, the hero will have the chance to search the otherworldly statue. It holds some surprise treasures, but only a hero with strong mind resistance can safely claim them without slipping into the madness of the abyss.

  • Game was calculating wood weight wrongly when putting to backpack, resulting excessive load after the wood was sold.

  • Some of the food tooltips were showing recipes as known although the hero didn't know them (Green pepper, red pepper, butter).

Here is another small bugfix update.
  • Fixed an issue where right clicking on the food recipe at the crafting screen makes the hero eat the food.
  • Fixed an issue where spider eye ingredient was showing the unknown recipe as a known recipe.
  • Fixed a typo in mind resistance explanation roll over.
