Demo Update & Updates Coming Up ✨

Meowllo!

The demo will finally have parity with our current 0.9.4 version. Up until now, demo players were still experiencing the old UI and lack of new game settings.

I went back to check just how out of date the demo is, and it doesn't even have the dark mode UI toggle in the beginning of the game!

...Yeah, it was a lot of work porting the 0.9.4 update to the demo version since locking the game was completely different.

Now, demo players can also get experience a bit of what the quest system is like and the overall game flow in the first few days. Sorry it took us so long 🙇

The limitations are similar, the main demo (game preview with tutorial days) ends on day six, or if you reach the "Them Apples" cutscene, whichever comes first.

In sandbox mode, it ends when you reach the next day.

As for existing players, we are working on our next major update: 0.9.5 will mainly deal with a lot of building QoL as well as build mode in general.

For something that is closer on the horizon, I've been working on a small Halloween-ish update. It'll come with quests, a new crop, a few recipes, and some furniture. So please look forward to that!

Honestly, our thought was "we should quickly update the demo!" and we thought it would take, you know, like a day? But we ended up running into some issues, and it ended up being more like three. In the process, we ironed out some bugs, like character customization not saving on intro skip in the main game, so that's good!

We did lose our minds a little bit, though.

0.9.4_9392 🐟 Guppy Spawn, Fixed Tundra Rivers, and Moon/Sunglow Flower Rates

  • Moonglow flowers now have 2X drop rate during the evening and night
  • Sunglow flowers now have 2X drop rate during the day and afternoon
  • Stardrop flowers now have 2X drop rate during the mornings
  • New fishing areas added to the Mushroom Forest's shallow pond around the large tree. These will spawn Guppies, so they are no longer locked behind the gacha machine and the mine's lower floors
  • Fixed fishing issues in the Frozen Tundra; you can now easily get Tilapia from the rivers by the campsite
  • Added an additional fishing spawn in the shallow pools up north in the tundra; there's a higher chance of Salmon spawns in the fall

0.9.4_8386 📖 Better Quest Card Navigation & Small Fixes

  • You can now go through the "Tasks" and "Rewards" section of the quest card with a gamepad and press right when you're on those sections to scroll through the list
  • Fixed Date (Bold House) and Kimchi's (Modern Eatery) house collision on the roof
  • Removed ability to edit the text in the mailbox and removed scaling, hopefully reducing the issue where on certain resolutions, the text can flicker
  • Fixed Nobu Jr. referencing himself when talking about Date in Way of the Weapons III
  • Text prompt and icon for item hover is now larger to help with portable systems and smaller screens
  • Misc. typo fixes

0.9.4_9376 🌲 Building Materials Quest Changes & New Quest

Meowllo!
I realized that you used to be able to purchase all the wall panels (Softwood, Drywall, etc.) from the get-go, including things like Nails and Concrete Slab.

Short of it:
  • Building Materials now split into three: the first now able to be taken and completed before the Grassy Plain's Obelisk completion
  • You now have to buy the wall panels, concrete slab, etc. from the blueprint shop. If you've already learned these recipes, this doesn't affect you
  • You'll only get access to the wall panels now as you unlock the ability to get the raw materials for them
  • New questline Futures Market added for those farther along. Requires Kiryl and finishing up to Building Materials III (Desert Canyon completion)

After some things were changed into quests, you were no longer able to easily get the 20 Concrete Slabs required for the Obelisk unless you got lucky breaking down debris.

Building Material has been changed to Building Material I, the first of three quests, and is immediately unlocked after "Intro to the Carpenter's Guild", making it now possible to purchase the Concrete Slab recipe before you unlock the mines.

Instead of the recipes being directly taught, they now cost money in the shop. My intention with money in the early game should be that you feel the need to consider whether to hold onto items or sell them, instead of just simply hoarding everything you come across because currency currently holds little value outside of buying seeds.

Instead of one quest giving you access to all the wall panels, Building Material II and III will now incrementally add the different wall panels and framing to your shop, making it align better with where you are in the MSQ and whether or not you can even obtain the raw materials.

Included now in the quest are tasks that are soft ways of teaching you how to get materials, such as Building Material I letting you know Glue is made from putting Birch or Toasted Birch Wood into a furnace.

Once those are completed, along with some other quests, there is a new quest for those farther along in the game: Futures Market. It's a continuation of some of the world lore covered in Digging Through the Archives. While working on this, since I wanted the quest to branch off based on what you pick, I noticed a bug that also affected some other quests, which explains why sometimes Two Eyes for Nothing would not completely properly for some players. Sorry;; I have fixed!!

It'll set things up nicely for future quests and story bits I'd like to integrate into our mines update, so look forward to that!
